An Idea for Passive Income
(I have copied this from the support ticket I made.)
Everyone hates grinding, but how else do you get cash in Era? You have to find a tedious job or risk the streets to pick trash. I was hoping of thinking about a simple way to gradually get cash, with upsetting the balance of the game. Then it hit me: Investments. First, you'd need to buy a "Shop." Not like the player owned shops where you can sell items, but a sort of NPC stall. They'd have multiple sizes; - "Stand", "Stall", "Shack", "S. Building" "L. Building". Each "Level" of building would cost more, but there'd be unlimited available to players. What would be the point? Ways to earn cash! For example, if you invest $1,000 in a Printing Machine, you'll get $1/5 Minutes for every Printing Machine that you have. The next Printing Machine you wish to buy would cost 10% more than the last one. Higher levels of "Income Generators" could exist, ranging from "Coffee Machine" to "Ammunition Vendor" or any number of varieties! Players wouldn't be able to interact, but each would gradually give money whenever a player is online and playing Era. For example, I have 5 Printing Machines. I get $5 every 5 minutes. I spent (1000+1100+1210+1331+1464) ($6,105 total) to invest in those machines. They would NEVER despawn. However, to get 5 of them, I had to upgrade my "Stall" to a "Shack" for more room. Thank you for reading! |
What's stopping me from investing a good $7,000,000 in machines and making an infinite loop of money?
|
Good question. The cost would continuously go up; - Even then, it could be higher. This was more of a rough sketch, its 100% open to the harshest criticism and ideas. What do you think would be a good way to balance?
Also, there'd be a maximum building "Size", and that means a limit on machines. |
Grinding is a necissary evil. A lot of games revolve around grinding to get cash, experience, and items.
|
Definitely, but I like the idea of more resources, options and choices available. For a new player it could be a lengthy long-term goal; - For an older player, it'd be a quick and sound investment to ease up on the work they do. I never intended for this to replace jobs; - Rather, it'd be slow and inefficient over time compared to picking trash ($70 per tire sure beats a dollar every five minutes), but its a long-term thought-idea.
It isn't really the best, but I figured I could post it anyways. |
Would you earn money while offline?
|
Doubtful. Considering it, but not really. I'm not very far into the idea, its mostly a flip.
|
EZ talked about this a couple days ago; and then we discussed turning Era into Farmville.
I just don't see this coming to life; Tim is right too. |
To much work. Won't happen.
|
It should probably be noted that a staff member who saw his ticket loved the idea and told him to make a post on the forums. Don't get the idea that no one is in support of this idea.
I think it needs some tweaking, but it might help break the monotony Era is falling into. |
Era in a nutshell
get gun shoot die shoot die get money. INVEST HEAVILY? idk |
so its basically like investing in a retirement fund as i can see.
you spend a large sum o money on a never dying entity that constnatly generates low amounts of cash but 24/7 so over time you end up making "profits". to be honest this seems more like a motivation to idle its like one of those APP games idle clicker. |
if anything i can see possibly the bank offering retirement plans wher eyou can invest money in it to get a percentage back.
but again money is soooo easy to make its sort of pointless if everyones rich. |
Yeah, money IS a bit easy to make. An hour is about 90,000 for me trash-picking I think. Or maybe 80,000, depending. I just like to idle and talk to people, so getting paid to do that no matter how slow appeals to me.

money is literaly dropped on the map in the image of trash seems sort of dumb XD yet no one is creating the trash.... my guess is theres another dimension and they are so advanced they are sending their trash trough worm holes to the current era. XD its the only plausible explanation money in trash form warping trough worm holes to land on the street. |

We just don't have the people/development to make big changes like that. It's become more of a maintenance than a progression from my view. |
I still think we need to add in-game voice. That would make the game a lot more sociable.
|
We used to have it though. Could you imagine what would be said, so many bans would happen I bet.
We also used to have controller support. |
Not if you do it right. Make it so you can only talk to others by joining their party or being invited. If they do anything wrong they can leave the party or be kicked. I don't see how there could be a problem and if there is one its your own fault.
|
I imagined just walking into unstick with everyone blabbing "brbrbrbrbr euhhuehue jajajajaja duende viva gibe monie"
Damn tht would be awesome |
Ya but only I would hear because nobody else would join your party.

Now that players aren't split between two comms protocols it might work a bit more reliably. |
wow people so worried abou random crap for nothing.
they had a mute button in the profile of that person incase you didn't want to hear them -.-. people 90% of the time just played music on their "mic" you didn't even need a mic really to play music. |

How we go from talking about investments to talking with voice in-game. You guys ever wonder why things dont get done. You guys are dreamers lol
|
I still vote for you guys to give me all the money you dont use, weither it be the used cash TP, or if your cash pool is overflowing, to lazy to re-re-reacquire profits and assets again.
