Graal v6 Compatability issues

Whenever I run Graal6setup.exe nothing happens and I don't know why. It previously worked about 6 months ago but I just tried to install run it and nothing happens. I don't think it's my firewall blocking it, I've turned it off and it still won't run.
When I right click it however It has a "troubleshoot compatibility" option, which I tried but it still doesn't work.

I'm guessing it is some sort of compatibility error but I'm not sure. Has any else had this error/know how to help? Thanks,

fowlplay4 10-30-2012 08:21 PM

Put it in it's own folder and rename it to Graal6.exe

JesusFreak250 10-30-2012 09:08 PM

The same thing still happens.

Tim_Rocks 10-31-2012 12:48 AM

Have you tried uninstalling Windows?

JesusFreak250 10-31-2012 12:11 PM

No. Haha

Admins 10-31-2012 03:09 PM

When you right-click it and watch at properties, signature, does it show a correct signature?

JesusFreak250 11-01-2012 10:51 AM

In the digital signature bit it says "Linux" if that's what you mean.

Crono 11-01-2012 03:50 PM

Right click and run as admin?

edit- I think this exact same thing was happening to me with v5. I forgot how but I remember FP4 had me do something...

JesusFreak250 11-01-2012 06:53 PM

Yeah I've tried that :/

Not to pick on you, but why do people always suggest running Graal as admin? I can't imagine ever running a game with elevated privileges. I've never really understood that about Windows.

Dunno, sometimes I'll try to load up an installation (sound drivers for example) and it'll poop out on me whereas running it as admin makes it smooth as silk.

Crow 11-02-2012 12:31 AM

Graal doesn't write anything to system folders and doesn't need any elevation for registry keys either. Running it as admin will change nothing.

JesusFreak250 11-03-2012 06:33 PM

Does anyone know how to fix this, please?

6sixty6 11-03-2012 07:26 PM

ya i log in to v6 and it just sit at the Connecting To Server bullsit

6sixty6 11-03-2012 07:27 PM

just make v5 available again

You mean v6? I mean, all you have to do is download v6 from this link:
http://graalonline.com/downloads/Graal6Setup.exe

Create a folder, call it whatever you'd like, put Graal6Setup.exe in the folder, run it. Then open Graal v6.

Admins 11-04-2012 02:30 AM

Graal doesn't need admin rights, it only puts files into the installation folder.

If that happens to be Program Files on Windows, it does need admin rights.

Crono 11-04-2012 03:56 PM

Try installing v5 first and then get v6.

Try extracting and running the attachment from your desktop.

Try renaming Graal6.exe to Graal6.com (you will need Show Extensions enabled in Folder Options) and running it.

Try modifying useopengl=0 to useopengl=1 in the game_config.txt file.

What Antivirus do you use? Completely disable it or add the Graal folder to the list of exceptions.

Un-check 'Hide extensions for known file types' under Folder Options.

JesusFreak250 11-05-2012 06:29 PM

I tried all these things but none of them seemed to work thanks though :)

Tim_Rocks 11-05-2012 06:34 PM

I didn't know my Grandma played Graal.

ffcmike 11-05-2012 06:36 PM

Try right clicking Graal6_Setup.exe, going to properties, and opening in a different compatibility mode.

Tim_Rocks 11-05-2012 06:46 PM

Serious question, has your computer been updated from Windows Vista to Windows 7? I had a few errors on my PC when I had upgraded my PC.

Yeah I have windows 7, I'm probably gonna get windows 8.

Tim_Rocks 11-05-2012 08:12 PM

So you did upgrade from Vista to 7?

I currently have windows 7. I never had vista :P

Would you be willing to add me on Skype and let me take control of your computer via Teamviewer? You don't have to give me control of your PC, I just want to see what you're doing wrong or what's happening.

Maybe... If that made sense...

Tim_Rocks 11-05-2012 10:19 PM

As in I just want to see what's happening, feel free to add me on Skype, timrocksera.

Edit: I think I can just screen share with Skype anyway.

Somehow sounds like some Anti-"Virus" program, which is preventing you from starting Graal although it is perfectly fine. If it's signed (with "Linux Cyberjoueurs" signature) then it doesn't have any virus.
