Zone iPhone

Whatever happened to Zone iPhone? I heard it was completed and approved by apple, why hasn't it been released yet?

Imperialistic 07-24-2012 06:19 AM

you really need to learn how to use the search feature on these forums.

I did in fact use it, and I couldn't find an answer to this. That is why I decided to make this thread.

dude2020 07-24-2012 04:11 PM

You really need to learn to search by posts and not threads. I've been talking about the redesigned iZone for months.

Emera 07-24-2012 04:19 PM

The server is 100% complete. I haven't got a clue what the hold up is. I believe Stefan just needs to find the time for it.

dude2020 07-24-2012 04:20 PM

This is surprising news, considering anytime I asked Stefan about it he acted like it wasn't finished. :O

Well I also got told that it's actually done

dude2020 07-24-2012 04:27 PM

By whom? Stefan? I thought he was having trouble finding people for it.

Feonix 07-24-2012 04:35 PM

The server is done...? What's the hold up? This is possibly the only shot PC Zone's got at ever getting players again. But I wonder how we'd manage to keep them...

dude2020 07-24-2012 04:52 PM

Event spamming for 6 hours straight obviously.

Zone PC is dead. iZone is replacing Zone PC.

ffcmike 07-24-2012 05:27 PM

Project not being released when said to be complete by Graal management horror.

Also the screenshots I saw were of Shangri-La's tileset, so I'm not sure what it has to do with Zone exactly.

Crono 07-24-2012 06:55 PM

Weren't there talks about iZone being part of iEra in the past? Perhaps that silly plan was changed. When iZone eventually comes out I hope PC Zone is reverted back to the way it used to be.

To my knowledge, iZone is still planned to become a part of iEra, and not to be a standalone release.

dude2020 07-24-2012 08:28 PM

Then iZone might as well be called iSuck.

It also kind of conflicts with the whole "You can access iZone through facebook, client, and iOS device" unless they planned on making iEra the test rat.

I've got access, and I can confirm it's completely finished.

How does it conflict? I thought they released iEra on FB recently?

It was implied that you would only be accessing iZone, why make it a mini game if you can just access it directly.

I think it finished about a month or so ago, but you'll have to clarify that with somebody like MysticalDragon since he's got a better knowledge of their development progress.

dude2020 07-25-2012 07:47 PM

Just tell me this.

PowerProNL isn't on the development team, is he?

dude2020 07-28-2012 03:05 AM

This is actually my favorite part of iZone. As a good friend of Shawn64 and ex Manager of Shangri-La it was a great feeling seeing Shawns stuff get used. He was a huge contributor to graal in general as a developer. However Shangri-La (Skyworld) is like the central point of iZone, like the "Main House". That's we're you choose your missions weather its PVE or PVP type missions. There is also a Memorable Statue on Skyworld for Shawn64 (RIP).
But if iZone was to be released by it self (Which isn't the plan anyways), your right at BlueMelon it wouldn't be ready. But iZone is a kinda like a minigame that's going to be a addon to iEra, not sure if this is still the plan. But in that case its ready to be added and played, not sure why stefan put it off though.

P.S PowerPro isn't on the development list.

I'm sure it's great from the perspective of someone who was involved with Shangri-La, I was more concerned with the perspective of those previously involved with Zone.
When you consider that it's just a minigame for iEra, it's pretty sickening to recall such posts as this:

Independent work on the Zone PC server could be interesting but the first thing everyone asks me is to remove the Gelat shop which is a no-go. It makes much more sense to help on the new Zone server and also help making it work better on PC.

Currently the Zone iPhone server is in the works, and since it's much more advanced than the current Zone PC server it would make sense to also let PC players login to it sometime. The focus is on the iPhone server of course though. I've asked some former Zone staff if they would be interested to help but wasn't seeing a lot of interest yet, so currently we are working mainly with Era iPhone staff.

So lets get this straight. An individual who imposed changes to a server which led to its death, then neglected many different peoples pleas to adjust and/or remove said implementation, asked for help from those previously involved with the server, but only wanted to make it a minigame for a different server?

This is essentially a big spit in the face to those with any remaining hope for Zone.

dude2020 07-28-2012 07:45 PM

if iZone is truly a minigame. I've lost all faith.

Crono 07-28-2012 09:09 PM

Using Shangri-La on iZone is just...wrong. Zone can stand on its two feet anyway, why implement it with iEra? :frown: it's ok john, we can still flip through old screenshots.

dude2020 07-28-2012 09:44 PM

I lost all mine D:

Imperialistic 07-28-2012 11:41 PM

I was so excited for iZone until I just read that it's going to be a part of iEra. Can't even be bothered to check it out at least.

Feonix 07-29-2012 01:46 AM

Well it was fun while it lasted, but after a while people lost hope and too many friends left. izone updates were probably the only thing keeping me on these forums, but kinda depressing to hear it's only going to be a minigame on a server I'll never log onto. :/

WE AINT GOIN DOWN LIKE THIS

DeathOfRa 08-22-2012 02:04 PM

If they make it as money-hungry as Zone currently is, it'll fail anyways. Zone PC should be revived before they release something that may or may not fail.

It's only common sense:
You wouldn't send a dead soldier into battle, why should you release a dead server?

The un-dead are better fighters duh.

DeathOfRa 08-22-2012 02:10 PM

And for those who say it'll be released into iEra as a minigame...

I don't think that says the soon to released minigame, I'm reading this correctly, yes?
Zone wouldn't do with iEra anyways, as they have two different aiming and firing mechanics built in.
Era players cannot fire diagonally.
Zone players can.

And Mike, stop posting retarded videos in the thread, thanks.

Felix_Xenophobe 08-22-2012 03:23 PM

What you need is Zone Police again.

The developers for it however, said it's in a minigame type state for iEra which apparently was part of the plan but conflicts with what Stefan had previously said. I'd would love to get a confirmation from Stefan on this matter. MY LAST HOPE.

also,
