OasaTor_PK 12-23-2011 02:01 AM

Is it halloween yet?

Supaman771 12-23-2011 02:19 AM

It's unfortunate they have to wait for holidays like this to release such stuff (New monsters/dungeons).

Glad [however] to see they're actually getting some progress made.

We don't have to wait for holidays, I just don't generally have a lot of free time, which is why I can't release updates as frequently as I'd like to :oo:.

MajinDragon 12-23-2011 06:55 AM

I'm assuming that whatever problems with debug that prevented Halloween are fixed now? Then I have to ask, will we be receiving the updates that were planned for Halloween 2011 any time in the next few months? Personally I feel that I was mostly robbed of subscription money during that period as 'key' members of staff hyped the event, only to have it scrapped at the last minute - what a waste of a week. So will Graal Kingdoms staff deliver what was promised months ago, or will it be a complete cop-out?

If it's the latter then I can only assume one of two things: There were no actual updates prepared for Halloween 2011 (That's a scam) or 2011's updates will carry over to 2012 (That's laziness).

No, I don't have time to work on two big events right now. The Christmas event is using some of the plans from Easter so it is somewhat larger than it would have been otherwise, though.

NicoX 12-23-2011 07:52 AM

Hey nice Monsters :P Haha

Clockwork 12-23-2011 10:04 AM

wouldn't this be better released on xmas eve or the 26th? o.o

The events will last at least a week so everyone should have time to participate. Similar to last Easter.

I was under the impression the Halloween updates were already completed. Or was the hyped based off ideas and not actual products?

joel34 12-23-2011 09:55 PM

Fortunately, they still care.
Unfortunately, it's only for subscribing players.

NicoX 12-24-2011 01:21 AM

Would be great

I'll post some information when it's released but some of it will need to be discovered. It's not too taxing, though. The concept is fairly simple.

There will be a competition similar to the one last time, but even if you only play a bit you should come out quite happy (hopefully).

There will be some ways in which trials can participate, but we've got to leave parts of it reserved for gold members unless we want observer mode back. You might take a look at the new method of "paying" (SuperRewards)—it makes it a lot easier to upgrade and doesn't require you to pay anything.

zephirot 12-24-2011 04:13 AM

The revenge of the blue clay men.

ShadowFist 12-24-2011 04:46 AM

Andre2006 12-24-2011 01:03 PM

Merry Christmas everyone!

I heard that those rarely actually pay out

NicoX 12-24-2011 01:16 PM

Well I am able to get 400 Gelats each month with doing them. But maybe because I am in Germany and the adds are different. But it worths a try !!

No; I meant all these things are generally themed to a holiday (Easter, Christmas, whatever) and then go away after a week or month of being around and the server returns to normal.

That's true, but I've found they're still pretty fast (<15 minutes got me 300 gelats by installing their adware offers in a virtual machine).

Cubical 12-24-2011 06:40 PM

Yeah, even though I have the money I don't feel like wasting it for a temporary update. Just like I don't feel like wasting time doing the super rewards. Start putting out updates that won't go away like the crypt or the monsters in the dungeons and I'll start throwing my money at Graal again. A seasonal update is pointless if the player count is just going to drop in a week or so. Kingdoms isn't like WoW or many other mmos; the playerbase isn't good enough to put out events/updates for a week or so and then take them away.

cbk1994 12-25-2011 10:10 AM

Just finished testing the events with Kale. I think you guys are going to like it--it's a lot of fun :).

Right now we're planning on releasing it on Christmas day around 8 PM EST but that time could change significantly. The launch itself is not important so don't be too bummed if you miss it. It's just hard for us to schedule it since all of the involved people are away with family. Sorry we can't give an exact time.

I was going to let this be a surprise at the end of the week, but I'll reveal now that the things we've developed won't go away, although there's still good reason to play now (lots of new items, etc. won't be available later).

Merry Christmas!

NicoX 12-25-2011 10:12 AM

So perm updates? Very hot. So the release is now on the 26th??

Sorry, I've been up so long I've got my dates confused. We'll release on the 25th around 8 PM EST. Same as originally planned/announced.

14 people online at the moment. Waiting for the Event :D !

cbk1994 12-26-2011 02:02 AM

I hate doing this but at this point it looks like we may not be able to release tonight. I'm staying with family now who don't have any access to the internet (bandwidth caps on their satellite internet, they're in the middle of nowhere). I'm posting this from my phone right now and am trying to tether my computer.

If I can get it working at all we'll try releasing. If not it'll probably have to wait until tomorrow.

Hopefully this doesn't cause too many problems. Again, a release tonight is still possible but is looking very unlikely. I'll try to keep you updated.

edit: at this point we're planning on releasing on the 26th but not sure about the time, I haven't been able to contact Tig yet to work that out.

Tashkin 12-26-2011 07:07 AM

Per Chris Vimes (cbk1994)

Regarding Christmas updates:

They're done, but not on the main server yet.

I was supposed to have internet where I am right now, but apparently the family whose house I'm staying at reached their bandwidth cap (they have satellite internet) and it got shut off. I managed to tether to my phone right now but my latency is ridiculous and I keep getting disconnected since I'm in the middle of nowhere.

I've tried contacting Tig via IM and phone and can't reach him anywhere, so there's no way for me to get the updates out tonight (he's the only one who can do them).

At this point I'm guessing updates will be transferred some time tomorrow night (about 22 hours roughly).

If anyone has any questions I can try to answer them. Sorry about that, but I hope you'll find it's worth the wait.

OasaTor_PK 12-26-2011 06:05 PM

I am guessing there is some sort of game ending bug on the server that Stefan needs to log on to fix like last time tight?

Looking forward to not enjoying the new updates. I really hope you can pull through and release something worth while. Maybe you can start to turn he server around. Good luck and keep up the hard work.
