Missing you dear old friend.

Dear Npulse,
I miss you so much! Your beautiful tiles and the way they surpassed Graals beauty. Jadynx always around the corner. Hell, I even remember Jadynx allowing me to edit her heads and unlock them for me! She was my mentor xD! I remember Twinneinz, Moonie, Ducati, Andy, slickrick, and more. One of my favorite parts was when me and my old friend Alearie and her friends went into our room editors. We would role play for hours. My dad was baffled as to why I was so addicted to Graal. I also remember Kay who is still around on U.N. as a GP. Many don't remember me but some do. I was ET on Npulse for a bit also. I really liked the fact that you could set your own hat, the fact that the economy wasn't run by hats as U.N.s currently is. The fact that there was no corruption AT ALL. Twinneinz was like a mother to me, a mother to all. She always took PM's and so did moonie and everyone else really. They showed me Graal and how fun it could be. Not to be mean, but now I am stuck with Unholy Nation. In fact it is unholy because in some aspects it is corrupt with players and staff. WHAT HAPPEND GUYS?

I MISS YOU NPULSE. GODS SPEED AND I HOPE YOU GET WELL SOON AND GET BACK ON YOUR FEET. DO YOU HEAR ME?
Thanks. ;)
P@TR!CK or Laren (Laren is my classic : D!)

I don't understand why the server was removed from Classic. The server technically worked fine, it was just a matter of getting players.

Other than events there was nothing to do on the server for the most part. When people stopped hosting, the player count dwindled. I believe it was because n-pulse had no real economy either. So if one was implemented, and events were hosted more often maybe some player count could be established? There was times where I hosted 5 months ago and could get 20-40 players on. No server is what it used to be like, but that doesn't mean N-pulse should die. There just needs to be something other than events to keep players happy. It could have been the staff that turned away players, because to be honest it didn't seem like a very friendly environment. Just sayin' #bring it back

Now I don't know much about Npulse, and can't really comment to justify going UC as I'm not aware of there being any subsequent effort to redevelop, but going by a very similar set of circumstances I've experienced I think the second quote answers the first.

It's possible that Npulse could have seen a mini revival, but without serious development of alternative things to do getting players would always be a struggle when the main thing to do is offered elsewhere just with greater numbers of players involved.
I recall Matt saying himself that he felt going UC (note the server wasn't forcefully removed), and therefore abandoning the responsibility of maintaining a playercount entirely was the best way to achieve a higher focus on development, a concept I agree with in the event of there being little to nothing to lose. Whether there could be a return gain however remains to be seen.

They could make it available to the public and the same old players could hang out there.

patrickp2p 06-27-2011 08:42 AM

Yep. I thought it was fine O: I wasn't here when they removed it, since I just came back after quitting. :I

oo_jazz_oo 06-27-2011 09:01 AM

I miss the old days...before Rebirth was the main focus, and there was an actual playerbase...

But once focus was put on Rebirth, things just seemed to fall apart. I did my part to try and stop that...I developed as much as I could by myself, but it just wasn't good enough. ;P
I think the last big thing we did on N-Pulse before it really died was the revamped guild war island I made...that was fun.

Well, there were other things to do other than events, they just weren't used. Or they worked but were closed due to reasons unknown at this point.

I don't mind the fact that it is UC, but when I go on Graal stats sometimes and see one 1 user (npc server) on N-Pulse it makes you wonder if they are even trying. We never hear anything about updates or what not, even if they are working on it, it would be nice to know what they are doing...

patrickp2p 06-28-2011 01:13 PM

So true... When I go to use RC, I too, look at player counts on servers... I agree 100 percent. Do they know how many players really had to relocate other servers? They don't need to redo older activities, they just need to make new ones!

As what has been stated in previous threads, N-Pulse was taken UC due to Matt requesting it. I told Matt then, and still believe so now, that it was an unwise move and would kill the server, and it remains true right now.

patrickp2p 06-29-2011 09:25 PM

Eh, the server probably is dead, lets just face it? D:

I miss the old, old days! Before Kalton and Armodian

By the way, which year was Kalton and Armodian implemented?

I'd have to say it was around 2000 or 2001

Yeah, that sounds right! Who was manager during this period by the way?

SlikRick 07-03-2011 04:18 PM

Moonie was.

Ducati_Link 07-06-2011 01:43 PM

Moon God (bless him) and Moonie, yes. I think it was more 2001.

Classic N-Pulse will always be 'Graal' to me. Sadly, any UC server bearly ever, if ever, comes out.

Lao_Su2 07-07-2011 06:15 PM

Classic N-Pulse will always be what I picture as Graal way back when I played as well.

Just had to post after Duacti <3

Glad to see you are still around, and active on Graal, even if it's iphone. :)
Classic N-Pulse will always be Graal for me also, even though I started out on Classic before N-Pulse was even here.

Ducati, my high hopes for N-Pulse faded away after you had stopped working on N-Pulse Dev. I remember that 2006 Christmas deadline... and the Fall 2008 deadline for Rebirth.

On a brighter note, N-Pulse looked it's best from what screenshots I saw of you re-making levels (level2.nw) with the pics1.png tileset. It wasn't trying to be anything it wasn't, it was a Classic style server in the truest form. God, I miss seeing your work.

Which is why, I'm striving so hard to complete Bellview's main city. Players get very bored and whine so much, when in reality they never know how much work it is to get things done, not only in real life but in "Graal Life" as well.

This is not at all easy to do, it takes time. I still stand by my decision because i tried everything else to get N-Pulse back to a normal, active, community. From when i was involved in Management the biggest problem, by far, was concentration on specific development. With N-Pulse, there will always be that large community of oldbies who do not want the server to move on and see new things because of 'originality', which is what it all really boils down to.

There is no steady direction for N-Pulse from when i was there last, which is why i took it UC. This was so our developers concentration could revolve around one large project, instead of trying to maintain classic status with terribly outdated files.

Ducati_Link 07-11-2011 09:12 AM

PANDA! MOONIE! Nice to see you guys :D
And yeah, Moonie.. as you know.. Graal never leaves your blood.

As for N-Pulse, I guess I am guilty as charge.. as I would love to see a classic version of N-Pulse back. I started graal because I enjoyed that Zelda feel to it, and thats still what I like about it today.. but you only get that from the classic servers. Moving forwards? moving forwards to what?

Rave_J 07-25-2011 06:46 AM

after moonie and moon god left it went threw alot of players
i miss Queen Beedoe, jadynx and wildman oh and DS and SaDie

Ducati_Link 07-26-2011 04:16 AM

Beehoe shall never be missed in my eyes.

But I still talk to DS and SaDiE quite often :) can probably get you in touch with them if you like.

Unkownsoldier 07-26-2011 04:55 AM

Ducati_Link 07-28-2011 03:37 AM

Xander joined the army.

I still talk to Xbob too :) He hasn't changed a single bit! Still makes you laugh, or asks for topless pictures. *nods* good ol' bob.

Here is old level3 and a updated classic version I did when they were going to bring back classic in a new way (I like this version best.. If I had N-Pulse, this is what I would do to it.).. levels were never totaly finished.

I'm probably not the first to ask, although would it possible to bring back the old levels? The ones that were used when you took that old screenshot of level3?

The scripts would probably be slightly outdated though..

Ducati_Link 07-30-2011 04:30 AM

possible - yes. The image next to the old one was a classic re-vamp to bring old classic back with obviously an updated tileset, levels, and scripts. But there was change of management, and then change of plans.

As for now, I dont think slik wants to bring back classic.. everyone just keeps talking about 'moving forwards'.. Which is fine.. but it wont be N-Pulse anymore.. I think N-Pulse should be N-Pulse. But I'm a classic lover.. so maybe im bias.

Though is we were allowed to remake classic N-Pulse, with N-Pulse permission, and anyones up for a project! I'm certainly in.
