Cool, but, uh, I would rather see shards of rock and ash in a Graal level than just the words.

As far as the writing goes... It's interesting, but I think it would be better if all verses, save the last, had the same number of syllables. It goes smoothly in my head, but sometimes the reading feels a tad bit bumpy. And it's a little awkward. (I think there's an average of 8 syllables per verse, and that feels right.) But other than that good job. :)

1. Use a script (zooming text is not hard) instead of a YouTube movie. Adam made a script for this kind of scenario: http://forums.graalonline.com/forums...hp?t=134260336
2. Don't waste too much time on an intro, most people will probably skip it.
3. It's funner to interact than to watch. The last thing people want is to be bored to death by cliches before they even get to play the server.

I agree with MattKan, having just text is kind of boring.. reminded me of the Ken-Burns effect used on slide shows too.. kinda gave me a headache lol.. I was kinda expecting some sort of scenes..

With that said, some of the text went too fast to read.. you should pretend it is the first time you are seeing the text to see how long it takes to read it and keep it up.. that and the fact that a lot of the community are kids and may not read that fast.


I also agree with fowlplay4, while you can script that easily, it also isn't too fun.. I don't really watch intros.. Classics was pretty darn good though.. then again it had mainly visual.. I am also a visual learner.. But if it is only an into, it isn't too bad. Just don't do a menu like Malorias start up.. I hate seeing that on entrance, I already have to go through two menus to get to the server lol..

I need to work on it and i would like other players (NOT NPC's) to act out the parts.

Real actors with players... sounds interesting, but I believe it would take too much time to get something decently acted.

As much as I'd like to give a good complement about this.. I can't do as much.. I can suggest that the rock and scene look like it was a part of the game though... Might want to reread what I said about how long it takes people to read things, this time to shorten the time. NPC's would be much much better then players in this situation I think... It usually takes shorter time to read then it takes some people to type.. lol

Anyway, I assume it is your server so you are free to do what you want.. I wish you luck. ^.^ At least you are trying something like this.

It'd most likely turn out MUCH nicer if you used NPCs.

Is there really no way to make a video appear on Graal?
I mean if I have to I could save it as... I don't know.. 2400 pictures assuming I have a two minute video, then create it my self as a video via scripting.. But I'd think there would be another way. :cry:

I'd like to have a 3D preview for the upcoming server, to give an idea of what they would be doing... to promote the server. Possibly even cut-scenes..

Is the answer really no? Possibly implement it in the future?

You can display Flash videos but I don't believe that's working in the latest V6, so personally I would avoid having that as a dependency.

I would really hate to have to download a large video just to see what a Graal server would be like.

D: I was thinking of having a small preview of guy chopping a tree, guy mining, guy walking to a cave, then having the title come on.. I mean I just made this up but it would be probably around 30 seconds lol.. just a small interesting skit for the starters.

Would they be able to make something read a url to show video in the future? People could have a youtube video, and a ?gui window? could pop up and show the url video.. I'm unsure how it would be made..

Either way, I can definitely skip it, I just remembered this thread yesterday and had the idea.

It needs a lot of work. You need to look at it as a person who doesn't have any clue what the server is about.
Also you should concentrate more on a backstory than a storyline. The storyline bit is very hard to do on a multiplayer game.
Some players hate a storyline and would rather quit than have to watch a movie. Other players might be fine with the storyline, but it could be a turn-off for some of graal's population.

This isn't an intro, this is an advertisement for why I shouldn't play your sever.

imo you should change your font to comic sans

It wasn't exactly a back story, or story line.. It's more for facebook / one of those games that keep you coming, addicted, and don't have much reason.. I won't go into it here.. Don't worry, if there was a way to have the video up, it wouldn't be bad. I'd take more time to make and come up with it lol..

Oh sorry, my mistake, Emera, the video that is up first, already notified in another post that she was no longer doing the cut-scene. I was only bringing back the question in another perspective because I wasn't sure if the answer was directed at her, or the question in general.
