Trading Card Game Released
This may come as a surprise to many as not only is this a fairly big update but it's separate from our normal questing plans, but over the last 5 days the Trading Card Game has been rescripted completely from scratch.
A preview video can be seen here: (although there has been several cosmetic changes since this video was made) The location of the Card House is where Fuitad's mansion was originally, which is to the left of the main bridge or slightly north of Sister Gertrudes/Unstick me. Simply talk to Nightmareangel to receive both the item to begin playing aswell as the manual describing how to play the game. While the game is played in exactly the same way as its previous release, most of the differences are visual, the biggest change however is that the game can be played/watched anywhere minus PK/Spar/Team Event levels, simply by firing the weapon infront of other players that have fired it, similarly to how high five works, players will remain paused and unable to be hit during this. While the server itself is Under Construction however it is only the game itself that has been released, deck building/card trading has had some preparation but will not be implemented until a later period of time, inwhich we are also hopeful of cards being obtained in quests, aswell as it being possible to design your own personal cards in game, in the mean time players are able to use a pre-set deck. |
 Night would be proud.
|
Beer card should totally be better!
|
I liked the FF8 version more, but this is still pretty freaking cool.
|
This could bore the ugly off a CSPAN representative.

The set up is ugly and odd. Why isn't your hand at the bottom, where it should be? Why do you sacrifice so much screen area to show the opponent's hand rather than only showing the top/bottom halves of their cards (which would be at the top of the screen)? The player's hand in card games that take place on screen is always best situated at the bottom of the screen, this way it's easier to look at without taking your eyes off the rest of the gameplay. The opponent's hand on the other hand is fairly unimportant, so it should be low priority, only being visible enough to show how many cards they have and maybe enough of the card to identify it if you for some reason are able to flip it.
The transparency of "the board" could not only cause distractions (other player's trying to talk to you, I know I'm unable to ignore that sort of thing) but also shows a missed opportunity to create table images for display under the playing field. It's cute that you try to incorporate the classic gui sprites, but number display for things like health in magic is just tacky. A bar (or even actual hearts for health) would not only be more cosmetically pleasing, but would make the game itself identify as Graal related much better than just "☯: 10/10". tl;dr, you drew a card, but dropped the ball |

The transparent background iirc was specifically intended for you to possibly see others that might join the game as a watcher, I could however disable the display of chat during the game. A bar may look better, but I think it's important to show the specific number in a game where one Card or HP/MP point can make a difference, what if it were turned into a bar that displayed the current number on top of it? |

This update is great, keep them coming :) You can really tell that a lot of effort went into this, and effort is something kinda absent from Graal these days. (Needless to say, it definitely paid off) Congrats! Keep up the great updates! |

It was sloppy in final fantasy, its sloppy on classic.
Pojo's got some good suggestions for streamlining it. |

Couple of changes:
Background chat is now disabled, it is however now possible for all of those watching/playing a particular game to talk to eachother within the toall box, just by talking as if by normal with the chat bar. Particular cards now have a related sound played when they are placed such as extra.wav with gelat cards, crush.wav with bush card, jump.wav with frog card etc. When a card disappears after 6 turns it is now fading out rather than disappearing instantly. |
I am the master of the card game -- ask gladius.
|
removal of futiad's domain slap to face etc
|
plz let me catch them all
|
So cute 3 years of Dark Cloud's life rescripted in 5 days.
|
lol
|
as of right new, there's no indication of which cards are yours on the board. perhaps a border color change indicating ownership or something.
I liked it so far, keep it up. Also the sounds that play are quite nice. |

As Kia has pointed out the card information is displayed at the bottom by hovering the mouse over a card, this works on your turn.
|
Is there a card with an iPhone reference, like if you draw it, you get overwhelmed with "CAN I B ADMIN!1!" and have to skip a turn or something.

Would any pre NPC Server players like their level 3 sword + shield and 12 hearts back? |

I would like to be able to go through my cards while my opponent is making his decision. Also mousing over does not seem to work when its not your turn either.
Id like to help with this project if any is needed |

Hovering the mouse over cards was intentionally made to only work on your turn but I've enabled it for both turns now. It's possible we could do with some further graphical help in future, but as things are with it released in its game only form and no deck collecting there aren't really any further requirements, atleast until the server is being pushed to go live. |

Your remaining deck cards can now be seen within a scroll at the top of your screen (size is reduced if your screen size isn't large enough). You can show or hide this by clicking the card count icon within the corresponding stats box of your player. There are now 2 NPCs within the Card House playing a pre-staged game between eachother which can be seen by touching them, this is intended to give new players a visual sense of how to play. It will be possible and perhaps interesting for there to be other NPCs throughout the server that play a card game between eachother. The grid has also been remade to look somewhat glassy, we will continue trying to spice up the appearance of other parts further, and are also considering the possibility of having customisable display images in future. |
^.^,
Try this card game, it's pretty good; I liked it while I could still play it.. My last game was from some random new person who was actually beating me by a small degree who just quit the game and basically after a few minutes logged off the server.. xD It was a sad win.. |

LOL! I see.. did you talk to him afterwards? I was wondering why he randomly disappeared after you asked him to follow you D:
Normally when someone says okay, they don't just log off xD |
I remember when this first came out I used to be #1, good times.
|
I was doing pretty good while I could play it! ... and then Thor kicked my butt horribly D: ... I have a problem with not remembering who placed what, and don't feel like hovering over cards lol.. and then when/if I do to look, after I am done thinking about it I have already forgotten.

Naw, he happened to be on and in the card shop when I seen someone online running around clueless. I asked him if he wanted to play cards.. then had to tell him how to respond with tab because he was pressing a lot of buttons.. Anyway, I brought him to the card shop and that is where it all happened. :D
I come on to annoy Thor anyway. ^.^ He is actually one of the few nice people I like to talk to. |
one improvement I'd like to see is clarification of what's damaging what, once several cards are out on the board it becomes tough to tell what cards are doing what
