Need Feedback
1 Attachment(s)
Alright, I'm working on a sword, and I'm not sure what I should change/improve, so if you have any advice/compliments/criticism post it here please. Thanks.

It's rather dark and could use a brighter palette, it needs more colors! :)

Tweaked the sword a little, added mini spikes on the hilt, and started shading the black part of the blade.
Attachment 52364 |
The blade is rather small so it's kinda hard to detail something on it
Here's a quick edit showing what you could change. I didn't touch the blade outline, but edited the handle some: Attachment 52366 Next, it probably needs more work on the outline, handle and blade design. |

I like what you did with the blade, is it alright if I use that?
Also, I tried to imitate the hilt spikes you had where it was a little vertical, I'm pleased with that result, I'm still looking to see what it would need to improve, but so far I like it, thanks for the help, Ill rep you whenever I get enough rep to rep positive. Attachment 52367 |
but can you create the diagnoal and still make it look good?

Another version I made, made the colors darker while keeping the same shape. Attachment 52368 Transition in ascending order from what I have, what looks the best? Attachment 52370 |

Personally, I like none of them to the point of actually picking between any of them. 1st is too plain, second is just not enough, three seems best of the four out of the pick, four is fine as well but I just don't care for it. I kind of like the idea of just the stick, no side poky parts, make the blade the focus and let the hilt just be a bare basic hilt. (I know my terminology is just so advanced, I'm clearly a swords smith)

Think you can draw what you mean so I can use it as a reference? |

I'll work on it more tommorrow, for now I'm in Super Bowl mode.

your Shading isn't terrible, the biggest part is your color pallet. I found it hard to use. I hope you don't mind but i redid your sword trying not to alter the shape as much as possible. All i did was change the hilt allot...the biggest challenge was like i said using the colors that you chose. Instead of using allot of colors that all kinda look the same try using as few colors as possible to practice (ill post an example). But the sword itself wasn't bad, you will get more creative with shapes with time.
Ill probably post my finished product of the remake when i have more time to play with those colors. Then again, i may not be the best person to take advice from. |

Keep it simple, not throwing colours everywhere :o
Attachment 52383Attachment 52385Attachment 52392 Few tips: Colour selection, look my three attemps above. One is too light, the other too dark and the other's colors have a nice match and turned out nice Shapes When making a weapon, make sure you use shapes instead of throwing colors everywhere |

Alright, I like the advice, Its helping, however I'm stuck with the hilt design so I'll put that sword on hold for the time being. About to work on a sword that will be for a Wind Spirit type monster, heres the shape off the start, anything I should change before starting?
Attachment 52396 |
I don't know where or why but I had the goofy idea of editting your sword...
This is what I got. http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/6...facedoodle.png |

What I have so far. I like the wind effect, but I think I may need cooler colors. Obviously, nothing is finished yet. I'm just posting this so you have an idea of what I'm going towards, and not just a rough outline. The blade colors I don't like, but I'm focusing on the effect for now. I'm looking for ideas on colors/designs, don't give criticism on the sword blade colors yet, as it's pretty much placeholder colors (feel free to suggest colors however), but I do want design criticism and wind design criticism.
The wind design is also in progress. Keep in mind this is a very rough draft, and nowhere near perfect/completed. I'm only posting it because I want you guys to get the feel/idea for it, and not just a blank black skeleton of a blade design, and also it's my stopping point for today. Attachment 52397 |

Sillyface approves of this, But if you could make an animation of it that would be superb |

Its already almost contrasted to the max. eh? It needs more shades of colors to shape it in my opinion.. |

Constructive Criticism is a form of giving feedback, brah. |
You should animate, maybe this helps...
Made this for Zodiac 1 year ago, but ended up being unused http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/3419/swarclaive.gif |

That's amazing. Chaotic, you're pretty good though, probably just need to work on the metal shading a bit imo. |

What Im working on now. Need major help on the hilt, probably going to ditch both hilts and start over on the hilt, and I need feedback on the blade. Its supposed to be a angelic sword or something along those lines.

Experiment with animation. Used makeagif.com to make it. I like it. Supposed to be light coming off of sunglasses like rockstar style stuff.
