But how would you fight with two shields?

You wouldn't fight with two shields, it'd be for travel and stat bonuses.

So...You'd sacrifice your ability to attack for that?
I mean I hate to be the guy raining on this parade but I haven't really found anyone able to answer me who actually uses two shields. |
I think I can clarify what Kale means. Shields on GK give certain stats. Let me give an example. Phoenix Shield offers +2 speed. Wearing two of them might give +4 speed. Cool
I don't really think dual-shields will ever happen though. |
Yeah. I was on the same page--I guess it would just be like Brigid's Weapon Restriction, so I don't see too much wrong with it. Maybe a STR prereq.

meh, when i thought of them i imagined newbs wearing dual-horned shields going into the dungeon to survive their way to a golden chest or something.. 30 strength is a lot to ask for, maybe 23 or so?

Dual shields probably wouldn't work but I do support being able to use the shield to block attacks outside of the sparing arena. It would be really good for lower level players with little armour class and very handy in pvp.

If you did it correctly you could EASILY fight with two shields. Ladies, with some designs of shields those sides aren't just for decoration. Those could be used for some serious gashes while you deflect that random dudes sword of doom and smash his teeth in, Though generally speaking with a nothing but shield style fighting would require you to have yourself at the peak of strength to wield both + charisma to keep going.

True that the spartans did use the shield in the most versatile manner of offense and defense. Think of these three ways of applying offensive shield technique. Shield Toss (Pro Frisbee Golf anyone?) Gashing someones skull and or limbs into mush with the rims/sides of the shield. Block with one shield, GASH WITH ANOTHER. while ur at it can u make it so u can cast 2 spells at the same time.
maybe just give players 2 mouths if they need to say incantations for the spells. this would be a good idea for making magic more powerful and now i can spawn twice as much food. thank you. edit: if i say two alchemys at once will it make twice as much gold? this could fix the economy. another plus. |

That would be cool if GK wasn't as stat-centric, but the way it is now, it would completely break the game beyond repair.

GK can be fixed without a reset. The belief that a reset would fix alot of problems is silly. I wouldn't be against a reset if GK could actually handle one, but it cannot. Right now there's not enough content to support a reset, if it were I'd probably be in favor of one or a partial one (specific skills/stats).

An easy way do it would be to add some kind of spin / bash animations and then just make attacks do damage based on AC. Similarly, you could have a guard action instead that makes the player have x2 AC while they continue to block, but they can't attack or heal.
Interesting concept, but I don't know if either would work well. Dual shield is a weird idea. Neat, but weird. |
