They should just rip off the recent version of Crossfire's source code and make that GK2. That would be so awesome.

Because there's no motivation to play. Everyone who left has already seen all GK has to offer, and any additions (crypt) are worthless to those already high up players.

And emphasis on trading is a part of the problem.

While looking through Graal bible i found this:

Quote:

The Graal3D project is GraalOnline's official 3D development project.

Rumors suggest that the Graal3D project is to recreate Graal Kingdoms in a 3D environment, using the Graal3D Engine.

Currently, only a preview of the project is available.
But i think they gave up.

It was an intresting server. VIPs got to play it for a bit in 2006, it was fun for a work in progress. There was a small town to explore, you could ski down the mountain course and throw snowballs at people and fight some snowmen. It's a shame it never got completed because it would've been amazing.

joel34 06-03-2010 09:16 PM

Ya,

But i never was Vip but still be able to play it tho.

nullify 06-03-2010 10:36 PM

Meh, it would have just been another server to neglect just like now.

To be fair, I recall the 3D models being god awful, and the textures within the town to be really low quality.

And "work in progress" by Graal's standards, I could see the being the final release.

His server.

No offense Drae, but everything looks too noisy. The floor, the characters, the castle. It's too much to look at.

If you say so. So far, you're the first to make that comment.

Holy ****, a contrary opinion, it's not like that's the kind of stuff that builds greatness or anything.

I've come to expect it, actually. Just saying, you're the first to ever make any comment about noise.

I purposely texture my work instead of adding noise most of the time, so if there is any, it's usually a result of having to take the bitdepth down a little bit so the tiles and other stuff will load in graaleditor.

Noise does not technically mean the type of noise you'd expect from a filter or such. Noisy is just another word for busy, where details and a lot of information is crammed into such a tiny space that it the whole thing just looks like too much is going on.

WhiteDragon 06-08-2010 11:38 PM

I can definitely agree on the "busy" thing... I think the main problem is the ground. The walls look very nice.

Seeya 06-10-2010 04:26 AM

I'd rather have more to look at then less, which is normally the problem on servers like GK.. nothing to do.

I agree. I'm trying to make the gmaps on there as geographically interesting as possible. The screenshot you see on the left is actually a fortress atop a volcano, and the one on the right is a big undead cathedral. However, surprisingly enough, there aren't many differences between tiles. The volcanic map, for example, mostly uses a combination of ground, lava, and city floor tiles. All the rest is done with scripting and large images.

PS: I'm actually looking for people interested in giving me a hand with these maps, although I haven't really announced that in the hiring section yet.
