ReUpdated SizzlesEra

Visit Sizzle's Era Site

After a year and a half I decided to re-update some things. Nothing major, just to get it out of the slump it was in.

If anyone want's to help I'll let you, but seeing as this isn't a .com website with the ability to restrict FTP permissions I won't be giving anyone the password.
Just make comments and corrections the best you can. All help is very much appreciated.

Few Updates:
-Prices
-Locations
-Upload Information
-Gangs
-Owners and Leaders
-Poll
-Forum Link now directs here to Era Forums

Thanks everyone.

Hey, thanks for the work you put into that site man. It's very well done!

Venom_Fish 02-16-2010 11:59 PM

Indeed, FAQ Admin please. The PRs do a terrible job at FAQ.

Dnegel 02-17-2010 12:05 AM

Always found this site helpful!

sizzle1989 02-17-2010 12:55 AM

I pointed this out to them when it was removed, and even sent in tickets saying how to do it better, they said they would do it and guess WHAT!! nothings been done. But Gabriel was the one who said he would do the things

Nataxo 02-17-2010 03:17 AM

I love your site :). You did an amazing job.

Venom_Fish 02-17-2010 03:19 AM

Gabriel doesn't know how to tie his shoe. I always wondered why he had FAQ Admin.

Good_Ol_Daze 02-17-2010 03:40 AM

Most people wear two shoes.

Great site. Really helpful (:

The site has a lot of good content but is lacking in website design principals. For example, pages like the sewer quest should only show one screenshot (step) at a time.

You might want to eventually see about working with Nataxo's Era Wiki, or the official Era site (which currently has nothing on it).

I updated the guides now, hope they're a little better now. Check em out. ^^

Any other suggestions you could offer would be great.

I'd personally suggest for like the sewer guide, creating a map of the sewers and using that instead to guide the way. A map, with some talking through and occasional screenshots(jpeg serves much better for large screenshots like that, as their filesize are way smaller than PNG, thus load faster) would probably make it a much more streamlined and useful tutorial.

Also, the one page per screenshot thing isn't really all that true. Especially if you use jpeg instead, you could probably have 5 per page, even 10.

Looks good :)

Well, I was thinking more along the lines of a Lightbox-type slideshow (Flash is very bulky). My main concern wasn't so much file size since that's mostly irrelevant on the internet, but instead about layout. By placing one step per "page" you can isolate each step better.

Well no, the way I've done it now is a mixture of HTML and Flash I edited from photobucket's Slide show. It's actually pretty nice.

The map idea, thought about it and most likely I'll add it when I get the time because I do like that idea.
But the JPG, as I've got the Slide show now, I don't see much need for it, I'd have to save all the pictures on my computer as JPG, reupload them to photobucket, edit all the HTML to switch to JPG. It's just a large headache that I don't see the need for any longer. But the thought is appreciated.

Not all pictures(jpeg is not good for fine-quality things like buttons and such), but just screenshots. It doesn't matter if it's a slideshow if you still have to wait for the screenshot to download.

Oh I see, thanks for the input. :)

You need to update! Amber is no longer the owner of her previous business, she is Co-Owner.

But good work!

Soala 02-21-2010 07:08 PM

If you buy a domain I can offer free hosting for this project.
Of course it wouldn't have freewebs web builder.

I would definitely recommend against this because of your history in what you put on websites.

sizzle1989 02-22-2010 02:21 AM

You've got to be the 5th person to offer me something like this.
You're going to be the 5th person I decline.

Why?

There's absolutely no need.
I'm well within my limits of bandwidth, space, etc.
I've got all the tools I need to deliver help to the people of Era.
I mean theres really no reason why I'd want to go with a different host.

And as for gaining hits which is a big one people seem to throw at me, theres no possible way I could gain anymore hits. The only audience this site is directed to all know of my site, and if not are normally told of it sooner or later.

This "project" has never been anything more to me then providing the best help I can for the players of Era. So with that said anyone else interested in offering me these deals can just read this, my views won't be changing.

I do however appreciate your want to help.
(Sorry for the wall of text.)

Edit:Also I'll be working on re-updating the ninja quest today. I'll be adding the famous "red line" trail markers, and those pictures that are almost too dark to see will be redone.
