Classic Graal for iPhone

...is on the App Store :p

It's actually quite nice, movement is smooth and it almost feels like Graal

I have to say, nice work, Stefan, and anyone else who worked on it.

DustyPorViva 12-15-2009 03:58 AM

Should use a custom heart interface, there's no need for those hearts to be so large :)

fowlplay4 12-15-2009 04:06 AM

PKing iPhone users on PC Client is lulz.

SwimChao 12-15-2009 04:12 AM

I am going to be monitoring how this progresses very closely. I have been strongly considering an iPhone, or just an iPod touch lately. This sort of sparks a little more interest.

Nataxo 12-15-2009 04:20 AM

Holy crap!

I'm gonna download it ASAP. I need to renew my iTunes account and get the new software version z_z

Deophite18 12-15-2009 04:24 AM

I don't understand why it was released when there is like nothing to do on there.

oo_jazz_oo 12-15-2009 04:25 AM

Its...very Graaly. :3

Movement is actually pretty nice, pking is funny. :P

The paying for outfits thing kinda bummed me out, but they gotta make money some how I suppose.
I'm actually glad their releasing it. Its a pretty neat game for on the iphone, and hopefully it gets people more interested in Graal...

(Maybe with the revenue they recieve from the iphone games, they could cut down the price of subscriptions on the computer graal....well, a man can dream anyways...)

Luda 12-15-2009 04:26 AM

GBC Graal flash backs.. I predict same outcome.

EclipsedAngel 12-15-2009 04:52 AM

It would be cooler if it was for the Gameboy color.

Crono 12-15-2009 04:58 AM

Looks better than PC Graal already.

maximus_asinus 12-15-2009 05:04 AM

Makes me wish Classic was still here. :(

Admins 12-15-2009 05:05 AM

It's probably faster for some people on iPhone :D
The "heart"s are the same size as on PC

Mark Sir Link 12-15-2009 05:07 AM

the big crisis came

That's my point. PC windows undoubtfully have a much larger resolution, thus the larger icons fit. However, given iPhone's, and how much is already taken up by the button controls, I think it'd probably look more fitting with smaller icons(which state.png already has).

Admins 12-15-2009 05:11 AM

The PC resolution was not much larger when Graal has been started, 800x600 was standard :D

Unkownsoldier 12-15-2009 05:24 AM

Downloaded, I will add it to my iPod in few days I am really interested. My computer lags like a female dog so this should be a lot better.

Vman13x 12-15-2009 05:27 AM

Ill try it out, seems interesting. Will any other servers be released anytime soon?

I still think it'd look better :P though I guess the resistance comes from the need to script the GUI clientside.

TSAdmin 12-15-2009 05:50 AM

This is actually pretty nice looking. I don't have an iPhone, myself. Wouldn't mind "borrowing" my brother's iPhone though and trying out the app.

Clockwork 12-15-2009 06:44 AM

Bought it and played with it ^^
The movement seems somehow to be a lot smoother on my itouch than it is on my pc, though it equals out with having to use the directional buttons on the corner of the screen.

As for improvements, players I found whom were actually new to graal and playing on their Iphone/pod didnt know what to do. Everyone of course had fun killing each other, but upon looking around, its actually a rather boring and empty world :P Maybe add options to make the arrow buttons invisible, a small button on the menu that would show you a list of emotions you can press and use ( I found myself thinking to myself "Crtl-d! Drtl-h!" but had no way of using them ;_; )

Also, had to upgrade my ipod for this. Was enjoying the 2.xx FW with it being jailbroken. The 3.xx fw's are a little more buggy, so I hadn't upgraded before. I'm willing to guess that a lot of people are still using the 2.xx FW and that they wont bother with the app with the required firmware :o

Ditto, except I dont know anyone who has an iphone, lol

DustyPorViva 12-15-2009 06:59 AM

To expand on Aeko's idea of the d-pad, you should perhaps have a version that is outline only... an outline would define the button existence while not being invasive at all. After all, you only need to play for 5 seconds to figure out where the d-pad is there, and then you just need to know where they are.

SwimChao 12-15-2009 07:04 AM

It would be nice to see some directions for the players who have no idea what they're doing? Atleast some signs to guide them.

I snuck on before it got shut down for PCs.

salesman 12-15-2009 07:20 AM

Pretty cool. Movement is nice, bomb spamming kind of lagged me though.

I'm assuming CJ is going to expand on this? If so, perhaps a map or playerlist so I can figure out who is online and where I need to go to kill them. And as Streety said, what's there to do? I noticed some of the players were not regular PC-Graalians, and didn't really know what was up.

For emotes, just type them out and your character will do them.

taylor 12-15-2009 07:24 AM

Wow, nice work, I have not capable of playing yet. I am setting up payment issues as far as app's go. But I am looking forward to this!

Demisis_P2P 12-15-2009 07:32 AM

Wow. I wanna hear those 15 songs.

Nataxo 12-15-2009 07:45 AM

Just tried it out!! Its a very good start in my opinion, keep it up.

Add quests and more things to do on classic like killing baddies, maybe spar etc.

A capable spar would be a great addition, imo!

DustyPorViva 12-15-2009 08:28 AM

Ya, they should have at least had a nice spar system for players to occupy themselves with.

Elk 12-15-2009 08:34 AM

Will be interesting if there'll be any interferences from Nintendo

I see absolutely no reason they would interfere.

SwimChao 12-15-2009 08:41 AM

I think a spar system would actually probably be one of the best things they could do for it.

Maybe could get a basic couple of events, have an event bot run them or something. Just races, and stuff. Mini-game styled, so that it can be picked up and set down.

Well there have been problems in the past...and now Graal getting into the "public" most likely with an iPhone project...

There are no legal justifications, though. None of the graphics are stolen... or even close to the Zelda franchise, and you can't copyright simple hack-and-slash gameplay.

Kalyssa 12-15-2009 11:10 AM

omg I'm going to download it asap :P

EclipsedAngel 12-15-2009 01:07 PM

You should port it to Nintendo DS too.

I could somewhat play Graal with this cool remote control application for my DS but it was slow.

CharlieM 12-15-2009 03:01 PM

dling it now :P I know what im going to be doing today

Vima 12-15-2009 03:51 PM

Would it be possible to sorta "Merge" the "real Graal"
I think that it would be awesome if, in the near future, I would be able for example: Play Graal with my account on my iphone when I am ex: on the bus, then when I come home I could log onto Graal on my PC. See where I am going?

It would probably boost up Graal's playercount! Iphone could be the way to save Graal considering we aren't a game with flashy flashy graphics.

Sam 12-15-2009 03:56 PM

I just had a look on it. In general it's nice. The movement is easy to operate, but I think it would be easier to handle if the free space in the middle of the movement were used as "use button" for weapons etc. similar to the space on the PC keyboard.

I hope there will be an instruction added for new users in general.
At present new players don't know what to do. They don't know (e.g.):

What are these green things (gelats) under the bushes?
What happens to the gelats, where are they when you try to earn them and where can I find the gelats?
Can I store the game?
Where can I see if someone else is on the game?

That are my first experiences I made right now when I was on.

Edit: I agree dusty, the hearts are oversized!
