Playerworlds down

Currently the file server for the playerworlds is down, that's why all private and hosted playerworlds are currently down. They should be back in a day (may be earlier), we will try to add the missing developer subscription time then. Sorry for these problems.

Imperialistic 10-21-2009 10:25 PM

Nothing I don't doubt from GraalOnline.

At least we were given an explanation and ETA.

It doesn't matter if it's GraalOnline or Google, all companies have down-times at one time or another, so give me a break.

Hiro 10-21-2009 10:36 PM

thanks stefan (8

Just to add: Another game that is not allowed to be discussed on the forums is always down for maintenance on a weekly basis. :fro:

Sage_Shadowbane 10-22-2009 08:32 PM

What ever happened to them being up in the morning, or even EARLIER? :noob:

The frequency of downtime is what he's referring to, most likely. Which is more than reasonable enough to complain, so no break needed for you. x_x

Glad to see the servers back, thanks for fixing or doing whatever was needed ! ^^

We have restored the missing developer gold subscription time.

playerworlds down again?

Admins 11-03-2009 07:27 PM

Already posted in another thread:
We are currently installing the private and hosted playerworlds on a new machine, this can take a few hours. After that there shouldn't be any downtimes in the near future anymore. Sorry for these problems.

coreys 11-03-2009 09:13 PM

Is the wiki part of this as well? It would be nice to have it back.

Hiro 11-03-2009 09:24 PM

well they are down again ):

The support center and graal wiki will be down for a week or two while some security issues are fixed. This may mean that there will be a loss of data on the support center and wiki (recent changes, news and new tickets) because some data was lost unexpectedly.

Right now the sites will be redirecting to graalonline.com while these things are being fixed.

Sorry for the inconvenience. If you absolutely need to get a hold of a staff member for a ticket-related inquiry, you may contact the appropriate person.

graal.net and the support center are getting moved to another server computer for security reasons.

Admins 11-04-2009 01:30 AM

The transfer of the playerworlds will take a few more hours, it's more than 30 GBytes that need to be moved. So they will probably not be back before tomorrow.

Stephen 11-04-2009 01:35 AM

Out of curiosity - why are you swapping machines?

Also, Kudos on returning lost developer account time. :)

Admins 11-04-2009 06:54 PM

The servers have been moved to the new machine. For most servers we were able to upload the latest content, but for some servers we had to use a backup which is a few days old (last friday or so). Sorry for any problems. As compensation we have added one week of dev subscription to everyone with an active subscription.
The /global servercontrol is currently not working, but we plan to bring that back in a few days.

Great, you destroyed quite a bunch of work.

The problem is that the computer has technical problems (won't start) and getting access to it will take 2-3 weeks minimum, but in that time you probably don't need the backup anymore. I can understand how it feels to lose work or needing to redo stuff, but currently I'm happy that the things are working at all.

I don't understand. Did the machine(s) just die and you then decided to move the content? Or did you turn it/them off because you already planned to do this beforehand? If you turned it/them off yourself, why not save a backup of all data before doing that?

salesman 11-04-2009 07:12 PM

fml I did a lot over the weekend, and now I have to do it again.

We made a backup last friday, and yesterday tried to copy the latest data but it died in the middle that's why some playerworlds are good and some not.

I don't think it was their fault. Happy to read stuff like this:

Any improvement in player relations should be welcome. :)

Of course not. I wasn't being serious, just passively pissed.

It's a shame that so much work was lost, but I am glad to hear that Stefan is starting to be a bit more involved with Graal, and also that he is thinking of the players :).

This, I feel, is the most important element; not just in this thread but in all forums currently active. I think it is most interesting and important to point out that Stefan is currently calling the shots.

A second Kudos to Stefan, although he did not directly answer my question without being further pursued by Crow. It's a shame that Crow would continue to flame on Stefan - especially after adding a week of developer status to all active developer accounts - something previously unseen, at least to my best knowledge.

When is Skill Games coming back?

sssssssssss 11-06-2009 05:34 AM

Just curious, its there an ETA on graal support working soon?

Admins 11-06-2009 03:42 PM

I don't know about support center yet, depends on when we get the machines back in the office. Eventually we could setup a new one though.
The skill games server will soon be back.

Admins 11-06-2009 06:14 PM

Update: The /global servercontrol command is working fine again. You can use it to restart a server, e.g. to reload the levels when you have switched levels to gmap.
