Era's Graaloween 2009!

Carve out your pumpkins and toss 'em on your head, because Graaloween has come to Era!

Over the next few days and weeks leading up to Halloween, we'll be holding events and releasing some new and fun prizes for this season! We've also switched over to the autumn tileset and trees, which is a nice change in scenery after a long summer.

To get started with our main event, log on Era and speak to Jacob near unstick me. He'll tell you your mission. As of today, all that you need is a "Prized Pumpkin". After that, anything else you collect is all your own. Once you get a prized pumpkin, visit Jason again and he'll give you a fun toy to play with!

To gather pumpkins, buy yourself a shovel down at the Seashell Shack and start digging in the grass (not on the beach). You might want to hold on to your other pumpkins, though, because as Jacob said, they'll be used on Halloween eve for something.

We'll be releasing more later this week and next!

To answer a few of the most common questions so far:
  1. The flashlight takes the same batteries as the normal one.
  2. You dig in the grass, not in the beach.
  3. There will be a purpose besides just the fun little toy you get today, but I'm not revealing what or how many pumpkins you need just yet.
  4. Lights can be disabled by pressing F3 and unchecking "Lights", then reconnecting.

Why raise the prize of a shovel to 125$? =_=

EDIT: 100$ to repair.... jerks :(

I have to agree, I only have 525 $ and I don't want to spend it all on shovels..

That's really silly considering the only bearable way of making money is digging.

LordSquirt 10-18-2009 07:00 PM

The price of a shovel isn't that insane. You can make a lot more than the 100 it costs to repair if you dig for shells.

salesman 10-18-2009 07:03 PM

Changed the repair cost to $50 (it actually was only $10 due to a typo instead of $100).

Jcs1919 10-18-2009 07:23 PM

okkkkkkkkkkkkk :o

Venom_Fish 10-18-2009 07:45 PM

You could've done more for Holloween, this seems silly. Who buries pumpkins? rofl.

I'd imagine that being a chore. Could've done something like Monster Pumpkins that shoot out pies and you have to kill them, don't know something more interactive.

People HATE to work for money, but you expect them to indulge the idea of digging for an unknown prize? Good luck with that.

We also could have taken weeks to prepare with new graphics and stuff for a two-week event.

Our time is better spent elsewhere. No one is forcing you to participate.

I agree, why not do more for it? Era is losing people anyways..lol..why not give it a shot?

But maybe there will be more to come, halloween event-wise.

I do like the light effect for the gmap though :D

Dnegel 10-18-2009 10:37 PM

I love the color of the trees, also you should been able to eat the Pumpkins, like with the crab sticks. :P

ldhfd 10-18-2009 10:41 PM

I have now 10 prized pumpkins and 16-20 of the others.

Oh man, i wonder when i should stop! :D

swift 10-18-2009 11:21 PM

I dug up 74 pumpkins within the first hour.

Chris: WTF

Then it seemed they came in alot slower.

IT GOT NERFED.

kia345 10-19-2009 01:26 AM

My very first dig was a prized pumpkin, then nothing else

BlueMelon 10-19-2009 01:36 AM

Its all a big race, "Selling pumpkins 100$ each"

rofl this morning even

"PC PUMKINS"

kia345 10-19-2009 01:41 AM

How is this flashlight any different than the other one?

More importantly, how is this flashlight worth owning over the other one?

Why would we even own the regular one to begin with?

The flashlights are just to get everyone into the Halloween mood :)

Remember, it's not even Halloween yet. The fun has not yet started.

Vman13x 10-19-2009 02:30 AM

I chased some noobs around with my halloween flashlight, and either they went into obs mode or logged because I never saw them again.

ldhfd 10-19-2009 02:58 AM

i ended up grabbing 10 flashlights and sold 3 of them for 10$ each.

*thumbs up*

Lol

Actually I loved this because like 50 % of Era were actually NOT in Unstuck Me, I think this will be a very cool month. I have faith. ^^

So you say, but time will indeed tell. I hope wherever your time is being spent, its for the better, for Era's sake... it can't afford it to be otherwise.

Oh, that orange Graaloween at the top right hand corner of my screen sure seems to be nudging me into it, can you remove it or disable it?

CharlieM 10-20-2009 03:18 AM

I see this whole thing as a money sink, shovel prices and repair fees hiked, and a prize hinted but nothing saying there is one or you will get anything other then a "Gj" as reward. People will spend a large quantity of money trying to win because they hope what they get is good

"ok i got it: sought after holiday item, but it functions and looks like a preexisting item! no wait even better! it functions and looks like a preexisting item that is completely useless and not worth owning! and it costs money to use!"

Just who do you think you are, GK?

Chris, don't take this wrong way, I'm not questioning Era's staff's plans, nor am I trying to make Era look bad, I really have no idea what to expect from Era, I'm just having fun <3

Frankie 10-20-2009 01:36 PM

it's a ****ing flashlight. who cares.

Dnegel 10-20-2009 04:04 PM

Hahaha, I like the flashlight. But I prefer the old one. ;)

BlueMelon 10-20-2009 10:23 PM

People who play graal on Halloween night...

Wow.

Venom_Fish 10-20-2009 10:35 PM

I sense that he has no ****ing idea of what the prize is and his probably going to half-ass it when the time comes. Which really doesn't matter to me, just felt like pointing that out. Lets call it a Fun Fact.

Jcs1919 10-20-2009 10:52 PM

omg I need to get p2p before halloween :(

So wait, it's silly and unreasonable to think that someone would bury pumpkins, yet in the very next line you suggest monster pumpkins that shoot pies at the player. That's logical.

Sure people hate to work for money. But it's an unknown prize. Might be good, might be bad. It's a risk you'll have to take. It's like going to the casino.

And here's a shocker, no one forces you to. Don't like it? Don't do it.

The best part about this is everyone's reaction. If it's just a little event, they complain. WOW, CAN'T DO ANY BETTER THAN THAT?

Yet if we had made custom graphics and scripted some elaborate quests and events...then they'd go "WOW GOOD JOB WASTING YOUR TIME ON POINTLESS HOLIDAY ****, FOCUS AND FINISH UP ERA DEV INSTEAD, DUMBASSES."

Andre2006 10-22-2009 12:17 PM

Where is all the zombies :(

Dnegel 10-22-2009 04:33 PM

There should be an massive event, with all players in one cave, as a team. Then hundreds of zombies comes, and when you kill one the blood come out of their head and all stuff. <3

Like Left 4 Dead... Mhmmm.

To MontyPython: My point was if you're going to go illogical about the situation, go all out. Basically, go hard or go home. Burying pumpkins is dumb, boring and overall homosexual. Monster Pumpkins and ****, is dumb, but its so dumb that its fun and entertaining. Balance out the stupidity with entertainment/fun.
