My scribble thread

Often I get an idea and I try to pixel it but I never get very far for various reasons. Sometimes I just don't like it/not happy with it. Other times I only scribble it because I like the idea in my head, even though I never have an intention for it. So I end up scribbling a lot of stuff and then just closing and never saving it... it may be a bad practice, so instead I'm going to throw it all in this thread, along with my 'canvas space'(MSPaint has only 3 undo's, so I often copy/paste versions of the piece as I work on it). I may still accept critique on them, but honestly, don't expect me to revisit it as I probably threw it away because I know something is wrong with it and don't think it's worth trying to fix.

I think I failed at the blade.

Gothika 09-22-2009 09:10 AM

The blade isn't too made, it just looks a bit plastic rather than metal.

I was going to enter the last pixeljoint competition that involved drawing a scene of a popular area after human life had disappeared. I intended to do the outskirts of Dubai, with Dubai in ruins in the background. Didn't get very far.

To a very abstract point of view that tree looks like half of a upper lip and nostril if you take a hard look at it. If you look at it in a certain way but i may just be crazy..

You should get Windows 7, the new MS Paint has a much larger undo stack :) Or maybe you can download the new one for Vista/XP? Unsure. In any case, it's nice, still no transparency support, though :(

I think paint should have the same as photoshop, ctrl + z for undo, and if you press it again, you undo your undo, to continue undoing further down the line you need to hold ctrl+ alt+ z, or something like that. I really like that one.

Ctrl + Y is already redo, don't need to add PS functionality. It sucks anyway.

Omg thanks, didn't know that, i've always been so irritated when i accidentally undid some carefully placed erasing >.<

Sage_Shadowbane 12-07-2009 10:03 PM

I'm under the impression Dusty is attempting some type of platformer? >_< Btw, really nice stuff as usual Dusty. :)

DustyPorViva 12-07-2009 10:29 PM

Nope! I intended to do something else with a tower, but I went way off-track with it and ended up with that.

Elk 12-07-2009 10:42 PM

nice, some plasticity issues though but has a realistic touch

I like how the palette made it look a little pliable/cartoonish. Good job Dusty.

Dunno what's to finish :P

I guess I'll dump my 3D stuff here too, since I don't do 3D that often and none of it is really that great.

Heh, only reason I rendered it is if I eventually want to pixel an animated one rotating -- it works as a good base for shape and such. Was no reason to put any detail into it. However, I love the way the DS games render their 3D objects, even the simplest shapes(like keys)... I just can't get mines to render anything like it. It may just be because I'm using 3ds' crappy default cel-shading material.

Can't find ANY screenshots of the items in-game though :/
