Rha Playerworld

Hello. This is another thread for Rha. This time, I want your opinion on how stats for your character should be raised.

Currently, there are 3 separate types of EXP: Normal, Strength, and Magic EXP. Normal EXP raises your level, defense, speed, ect, while Strength EXP raises Strength, and Magic EXP raises Magic. If you use a weapon that is based on Strength, you gain Strength EXP. If you use a weapon that is based on Magic, you gain Magic EXP. That is currently how the system works.

This is an idea I have:
Once you gain a level, you get Points, in which you can use them to raise specific stats, like Speed, Strength, Magic, and Defense.

Which idea do you like best? The current method, or points?

BocoC 09-22-2001 10:08 PM

Please don't be afraid to answer with your opinion. I don't bite...................hard.

Enigma_GP4 09-22-2001 10:23 PM

do the second thing with points so its kinda like diablo
they're both good ideas though

Thak2 09-23-2001 12:11 AM

Current way is better. It makes more sense.

AlexH 09-23-2001 12:15 AM

yes
you should try and do it like diablo
like when you gain a certain amount of exp points you get to edit your stats by 5 points
so like if you wanted your character to be very strong you could put your str up all the time and then he would be powerfull but if you wanted him to have lots of magic you could put that up etc

BocoC 09-23-2001 12:39 AM

Well, if I do a Diablo/Redmoon/Ragnarok/every other online game type stats, where you add points in certain catagories, then the code will look nicer and not as messy in some areas. On the other hand, the current system is more life-like, in which if you keep bashing monsters with an Iron Sword, you gain lots of strength.

yes, use the current way, it makes it more life like. All the other RPGs use the point system too much.

Oh, and what do you people think would be a good Max Level? I was thinking around 100 to 200. Don't wanna go higher, or else Graal could crash from the big EXP numbers. HolyCat crashed his Graal when he had EXP like, 5.324456546 E12, or something like that. Well, post your thoughts on Max Level.

Enigma_GP4 09-23-2001 09:49 PM

I say make it 50

Merlin 09-23-2001 09:57 PM

diablo is a big suck

AlexH 09-23-2001 10:08 PM

diablo r0x0rs

James 09-23-2001 10:14 PM

gah, not anymore exp systems, try making something new...those exp systems get old fast... =/

And you would suggest what? Have every character exactly the same?

BocoC 09-24-2001 12:40 AM

Hmm. Interesting results. But, level 50 is out of the question =P I might make the max level 100, because to EXP to get from level 99 to 100 is..... (checks list) 431,370 points. I might change the EXP equation, though.

BocoC 09-24-2001 12:54 AM

Oops. I forgot. Anybody have any ideas on how playerkilling should be handled? Because I really don't want level 30-40 killers slicing up newbies..... That just discourages players from playing if they always die. Any ideas on how to handle this?

Xaviar 09-24-2001 12:57 AM

Dont let people pk unless they've gotten to level 10, and then, they can only pk people level 10 and up

BocoC 09-24-2001 09:36 AM

Hmm. That is interesting. Still. Super Powerfull people can kill level 10 people easily. Maybe playerkilling can only be Guild vs Guild based? Or maybe in only certain areas of the world, (with the strongest monsters), players can kill each other. The weaker portions of the world there can be monsters, but players cannot kill each other. Kinda like on Redmoon. The beginning place has baddies, and you can kill them, but you can't kill other people. Only until you get to the Junk Yard and places like that you can kill people. Any suggestions or comments on this reply?

Enigma_GP4 09-25-2001 04:51 AM

Im not sure about the Guild vs. Guild idea

NooseKnot 09-25-2001 05:02 AM

i like boco's idea.. treat it as a "if they can get to this point they are good enough to fight other players"

Xaviar 09-25-2001 07:29 AM

But then you still run in to the problem of even bigger people kicking the crap out of you, maybe only let the person kill people withing a certain range of levels from him, as well as the level 10 thing, so like a level 10 person can pk anyone from level 10 to level 15, but a level 20 person can pk anyone from level 15 to 25

NooseKnot 09-25-2001 07:33 AM

good idea :)

Aknts 09-25-2001 10:01 AM

Yup good idea

BocoC 09-25-2001 11:33 AM

I have thought of that. But, think of it from this perspective. Only about 5 people are in your attack range. That could get pretty boring if you are a pker. Redmoon does it kinda nice. In the areas where you can pk, once you pk, you get a pk tag. Then, even if you are in the town non-pk areas, people can hurt you and you can't hurt them. But, I dunno. There will always be a minority and majority of the people. What I am trying to do is find a way to average that gap without placing restrictions on what player's can do. =/

entravial 09-25-2001 01:56 PM
