Oh no.. another playerworld in the making..

Okay well, I have decided to take on the huge job of making my own playerworld.

I'm going for a different look, and a different feel with my playerworld. There will be a lot of roleplaying-like things.. but the server will not be meant for roleplaying as some certain class or anything (since I absolutely hate classes) Players will have many MANY stats that can be improved through training, quests, and other means. There will be a plot, there will be quests, but most importantly, the world will blend evenly. Meaning no afro wigs or backwards baseball caps, and no go-karts and laser arenas. The setting takes place in one time period instead of random.

I don't want to reveal anything else about it yet, because nothing is finalized.. I'm not asking for help, just announcing the playerworld, however, if you want to help or become staff, then contact me over forum pm telling me what you want to do.. the only jobs open are for levels, npcs, and graphics. If you're really good with ideas and development, there is a spot open for that too.

Below is a screenshot of a REALLY EARLY tileset I have created for the playerworld. I know it isn't great yet but I'm improving it.. so give suggestions on what needs changing with the tileset (note the colors are off because I saved as gif and it lowered the color)

By the way, the name of the playerworld at the moment is Oasis, but it might change over time.

Sounds...promising. But the beginnings of PWs are always the hardest...

looks good

Uh.. the back of the roof...

Make it slant, sort of.

Hmm.. well it's kind of supposed to be square, but I'm working on slanted roof tiles too, so you could do more of a church style or whatever.. They will also come in a variety of colors such as green, red, blue, brown, and yellow. :)

The trees are going to be one of the biggest projects to do for the tileset.. I want to make realistic trees with leaves that can be put over houses and things, and then have it overlap the players so they walk under the leafy top layer

Looks excellent.

If you ever need any ideas or stories, gimme a ring.

No, I mean if you want that 3-d look you're going for.
Slant the back of the roof a bit.

Looks cool, but I must agree with Torankusu, the house would look much better if the roof was like this:

_
/_\
|_|

Torankusu 01-10-2002 10:49 AM

The house on the left just looks like a brick wall extending from the roof.

Other than that, the tileset looks a bit promising.

Smiley signs are always a good thing to have.

That's how I would like it also.. but it's kind of hard to achieve that with square tiles on a tileset.. unless the roof was made of npc images or something.. I originally had a house shaped like that but it was awkward walking behind it where the diagonal part was.. any suggestions? Maybe less slant?

When I don't have enough room on the original spot for the house, I make use of those ugly lava tiles. ^_^

Use a complete (revision, if needed) of pics1. Have alot of new tiles.
You don't need 3-d rooves. or is it roofs?

Oh.. isn't there a way to redefine all the tiles (like with 2k2 and NW)? How is that done.. there isn't any documentation on it.. =/

Here are some crappy old roof tiles I made... It's kind of easy to see what I mean by awkward tiling on the diagonal part..

Wow Thumbs up koni..
