I've put some thought into this.

Hop onto Era and ask yourself: What makes one gang different from the other?
Here's what I'm seeing:
  1. Generic "warehouse" theme in every base.
  2. LC and BB's gang gun is practically the same.
  3. Hardly an effective ranking system in any gang; I've asked several
    Black Holst leaders how long they've been in, and I get
    responses like "9 months".
  4. "Old" gang members that come on after months
    and expect to get ranked exceptionally high.
Here's what I propose:
  1. I say that there be a unique theme to every gang-- Examples;
    One "warehouse" themed gang, base located inland Era city; One
    "ship" themed gang, base located on a ship on the shore; and
    one base located in the sewers.
  2. A certain uniqueness to gang guns-- I've seen some creative
    gang weapons in my time; Tachi had sewer elixers+petrol bombs,
    Los Carteles had the Hypershell(a gun with overbearing spread),
    Black Holst had grenades, and even their current Black Holster.
    Each gang should have a weapon that makes them unique, not the
    same gun with a new graphic. We could honor old gang guns by
    making them event items.
  3. Ranking system- It should be mandatory that each gang follow a
    ranking system. By this, I mean that each member should work for
    their ranks. I was in Black Holst for 6 months before I got promoted
    for the first time-- that's just how it was back then-- You were rewarded
    for your loyalty.
  4. Erase current gangs completely. If you're going to make a "new Era",
    make a new Era-- period. Create new gangs. This way you can work
    from scratch and you won't have to deal with players from previous
    gangs going "Our old base was better", or "I was leader of this gang,
    so I'm next in line to get it". It'll give Era a fresh new feel, and make it
    evident that things have changed.

I'd like to see PK-friendly bases. By this, I mean bases that aren't
cramped; bases that you can move around and dodge bullets in.
Some bases look nice, but they're not PK friendly; while some are
PK-Friendly, but look horrible. It's almost like the LATs flip a coin
and say: "Do we want to make this base look nice, or do we want it
PK-friendly?" We need to find a middle ground.

It's hard to mimic the gangs like they were back 4~ years ago. The community has changed way too much. Kids join gangs now just the use the gang gun, or maybe they hop a gang because their friend can get them a high rank. There are a few changes in my opinion also, that I would like to see in gangs if we want them to get better.

- Get rid of gang guns. There's really no reason why gangs should have a special gun. They wind up being overpowered. If gangs have a gang gun, it should be more like what it was in the past. Complete ****. You only had it just to say "I own a BB Magnum." It was more like a symbol to your gang, not something that you would use in sparring / pking. It will cut the people out that join gangs just for the gun, thus creating more loyal members.

- By script, limit the number of recruiters a gang can have. This way the leader doesn't toss out recruiting rights to all their friends. This would mean that the leader has to put people that will do the best job in the position. Members will want to work harder and prove themselves to become a recruiter. It's too easy these days.

Meph's lack of reference to the Morano Family (best example of the newer gangs in my opinion) is a bit disappointing.

I think gang guns should only have aesthetic differences compared to more common guns. For example I remember BB had an M4 at one point, it should have performed the same as the M16. Morano Thomspon should have performed like the AK47, the BHer should have performed like an AP7, etc.

Just a quick thought.

Prove to me that Morano is more than just a bunch of people with hats, a small base, and a thompson.

Morano used to have a structure and that RP act to it, now it's just a bunch of people what meph said.

Oh, and guys, there's a Gang Application out on Era. It's on the news tab. Due Friday, 10/17/08. You MAY submit old gangs.

No offense, but making an application was a real dumb idea. First off, I find it kind of insulting that under my control, I told you we were going to leave it at 3 gangs, for a good reason too. Now that I'm gone you go off and make one just because you can. There's no reason at all to upload a new gang.

No matter what, the gang is going to fail. After a few weeks the hype will be gone and nobody is going to give a **** about them anymore. History repeats itself.

I don't mean to criticize you so harshly, but this shouldn't be happening.

One thing I have to say if you do go through with this (although I strongly suggest you just leave it alone and not do this x.x)
Do not give the new gang a gang gun

Refunding money is flawed and having to un-taglock the gun is just stupid.

Just my opinion.

Uploading a gang and a few weeks later being deleted would be repeating history. The gang system needs a total re-haul before new gangs are brought back. Amsel is going to do nothing but waste time right now.

The gang app is allowing people to resubmit old gangs as well, so that will be an advantage to anyone who resubmits an old gang. The main reason for raising it up to four gangs IS the fact that we're trying to waste time, especially now that management changed when we were actually getting close to the reset. Now we need to kill at least an extra week, and probably a lot more, while keeping players busy on something or another. This adds a little bit of excitement, plus more people will start getting involved in the gangs and keep themselves entertained that way. It isn't a crack at your management, I didn't say "oh hey, frankie's gone, let's undo everything he did" it was just my idea and TSA approved it while you didn't.

letting old gangs being revived is just stupid. morano's reputation was completely ruined because people wouldn't let it die and kept bringing it back just to fail again. people now remember morano as the gang that sucked ass. not the gang that was really awesome to be in back in the day, lol.
