If I cared to know then maybe. I don't think I ever asked though, did I?

Even if you didn't ask, you should care about people's opinion in order to pull off something eventualy successful.

There's a difference between a constructive insult and a regular insult. What he said was just a regular insult. If he'd said, "I think [Insert aspect of server here] could use improvement in [Insert form of improvement here]." Then that would have been useful.

You can't specify what kind of criticism you're going to receive. Every person is entitled to his own opinion. Why should your server be exempt from criticism?

I'm not. I'm just pointing out that it isn't that polite.

It might not be polite, but it's a part of server creation and you might learn from it.

Nonconstructive criticism is... well, nonconstructive. Sure people are entitled to their opinion but that doesn't mean it's constructive at all, nor is it always welcomed in communities. Most art/development communities frown upon nonconstructive criticism, and there is a reason for it. It rarely helps the person out and makes you look like an ass.

This is about criticism in general, not at any specific discussion.

+1 Rep. Nice to see someone thinks the same way. :)

Well, You can take this in any way you like but I stand by what I say is that sometimes people will say things you just don't want to hear, sure it may not seem good to hear at all but if you open your mind and thoughts to their views on your work, think what would happen if you read the same exact idea with a lack of detailed explanation you're bound to get this "nonconstructive criticism" that you just think is bull****. I think you need to be more open with the outlines of what this about. I just reread your opening post and basically I got this.

"HAY, THIS IS ANOTHER "CLASSIC" SERVER THAT CONCENTRATES ON YOUR WEAPONS CHARACTERISTICS AND YOU'LL BUILD OFF FROM THERE! NOTHING ELSE APPLY NAO :D"

I think you could generate more interest if you actually have a story to present. Would you expect any different after completely reading what I said and thinking it through? I feel your ambition in your work but if you have nothing for those who don't know it all and they won't understand.

I hope you realize that you're only saying that because it's your server. Don't say it if you wouldn't say it for another server.

We've only been out for a few weeks. Sure, we will have a story, but there isn't much else to add to the description right now. You shouldn't assume we have our whole server life planned out immediately.

I would say it for other servers. Don't judge someone you don't know, okay?

It's best to have everything prepared beforehand, or at least a rough draft.

Lame defense I will say right now. Why are you even making a server if you haven't even made even a rough draft of a story (basically what bubbles said above) ? That's basically turning in a blank paper to a teacher and saying you're done. You'll fail and get an F like you have to this audience so I'm within my right to assume.

If you haven't even made a story in a few weeks than I will say right now you aren't ready to make a server, thanks for wasting your money and our time.

I wouldn't express that much importance in a story tbh.

I'd say the success of a server strongly depends on their ability to make a fun (rapid if possible) prototype of the game-play and then being able to expand upon it and provide a decent amount of content (replay-ability helps too) for it.
