Damnit I'm late for the party, oh well anyways here is how feudalism goes...

The Monarch (King) owns all the land in Graal. He hands the land out to his noblemen.

The noblemen get a bunch of knights, and make them swear homage and fealty to them. This means they are obligated to serve. THe knights usually pay this homage and fealty to them nobleman in a ceremony (which I think would be cool for Graal) They defend the land the nobleman has and in exchange the knights get a piece of land

Now, the knights get this land given to them by nobleman and FURTHER divide it, giving it to peasants. The peasants work the land for the knights, so they can buy armor and equip themselves for battle. And here is where it gets interesting

Theoretically, the Monarch controls all, the noblemen command him. However, many noblemen go to war with each other for more land and the knights fight the wars for them. So the knights that have sworn homage and fealty to the nobleman must go to war, BUT some knights swear this to more than one nobleman (for greed reasons of course). Same thing goes with peasants. Peasants can swear to more than one knight, but when it's war time they must decide...

If we had this feudalistic system it would make Graal really really really interesting. Like going to war almost every day would be the ultimate RP experience. We should have merchants and blacksmith guilds too for economical purposes.

well..i would like to be head guard,seeing as a i have experiance with it.i was official head guard of graal castle until it all changed,even before that some bad stuff happened and i had to quit to settle the stuff...and screw Lycia (or mot) and make Hype the queen!

That would be incredibly cool --- that is, if more than twenty people on New Main knew how to RP. :mad: You should definetly look into it more, if it was slightly modified than it could conceivably work on Providence....

I think the second most important idea in here (after kingdoms themselves) was forgotten.

Stefan should have incoporated contests and chllaenges like he said by which people could defeat monarchs.

I e-mailed Stefan saying I would gladly help sort the system out. Perhaps if feudalism catches on successfully then we can make a second castle which provides fief's to people

Monarchy was not defeated, it was overthrown through civil wars and rebellions... or the hier took over. UNfortunately, and we can all see this coming, the first day a Monarch is elected a group inside the kingdomw ill say "HEY, lets overthrow the MOnarchy and if you do I'll make you my new advisor and give you good ranks blah blah blah".

I think that if the King is a good one, then he should stay in power. It's no use having Kings spar for the throne just because 1) KIngs did not fight 2) A skilled sparrer (sp?) does not make someone a good leader. Every three weeks or a month there should be a general election held and the people should decide.

I wanna be a gaurd or something, just something! Oh and I dont think this has been discussed...I read like the first 5 pages and skipped to the last so I dont know. Where will be put the castle? I was looking on the map and found 4 good locations, to the left of Survivor island, theres plenty of room and is unused, above dustari castle in the red trees, or the green trees next to the red trees above dustari, or in the trees above the mining town.

The only thing Stefan said was that he was going to make simple levels for the castle and we have to "beef it up". I hope he puts it in all the trees though, like the ones just north west of bopot stadium or north of bogenera. FEUDALISM
