On the whole myspace thing, most of the advertising = spam. Sure, you can actually advertise on it, but no doubt it's too expensive. If you spam, its against the ToS and they can fine/sue you up to $50 for every person that its sent to.

Fair point.

I'd make the server to break the molds, but 1) I wouldn't get the support I'd need and 2) I'd get shut down for not following the rules as they stand. On my own server. -_-;

To be honest if I'm to purchase a server I'm going to do what ever I want with it besides some nasty photos and such. The worst that can happen is Houdini crys and you possibly get shutdown for a few days. :)

Tyhm 06-23-2007 03:46 AM

No, the worst that can happen is Unixmad decides it's unforgivably anti-Graal to allow free passes and deletes the server, bans the account, and refuses to refund the hosting fee. Since I've yet to hear otherwise, I'm reluctant to attempt any such thing; besides, he has a point, the last thing he needs is for someone to allow "Free" accounts to all, then open an EBay store where he sells his own server's "Premium" stuff (equipment, scripted saving, whatever)...

Whoever said killing trials is bad, is completely ignorant.

Trials dont think they have to pay for the game since it takes like 2 hours just to get all the basic stuff a p2p has. Its time these trials are turned off. I hate them stinking up the servers. And should show them they need p2p which guest accounts was a good idea.

zokemon 06-23-2007 05:51 AM

On Maloria, trial accounts couldn't talk! ^_^

Anyways, this is why I never spilled the beans on The Graal Reform as I didn't want it to turn into a huge public debate where Graal Administration would just go "oh that thread is to huge and is just full or flaming and spam" and ignore it.

If you guys want this done, do as I am and make it happen:

Go to classic servers and provide all the levels, graphics and scripts for these trial areas. If enough classic servers conform, Stefan/Unixmad will take notice and just may move towards this idea.

Graal is a huge boulder, it is way to have to push alone. If you want to get it to roll the right direction, carve the path for it to go!

If enough people (mainly capable developers, preferably with current jobs on classic servers) are interested in joining me in my quest, I'll make a thread about it listing what kind of things should be done to accomplish our universal goal.

God damn, Zero, put it up already. It's not happening =/

Put it up? The thread? Or did you mean "give it up"?
If the latter, I beg to differ!
My advise is only being literated from the big man him self.

zokemon 06-23-2007 06:24 AM

*sigh*

Anyways...
Let me just clear up what defines a Gold Server:

A server that is overseen by Graal Administration for content and quality control. This does not mean a gold server has to be managed by them.

lol. Oh well. There goes that idea. I'm starting to think twice about advertising my book on there now. :(

You need a Gimme to make it work. "Pay $40 to play our game!" won't get the myspacers playing, but "Free to Myspace members!" will. Even if the Free isn't as good as the Subscribers, they'd have to be able to couch it as "Hey look, a Even Free-er than IMVU or Zwinky Graphical Chat Client!"

But it's gotta be better than what they're selling, 'cuz now we got people leaving as soon as they realize it's Pay to Play.
Free to myspacers????????

And you know I actually tried that IMVU chat client. What a load of crap and waste of time it was, and it lagged horribly with my DSL. Graal doesn't even lag like IMVU does for me.

Well...it seems Unixmad will be busy dealing with those pathetic Antigraal fools so probably no input from them :(

Just add in server ops to disable (by default) sendtext() and requesttext() and it will solve load of problems.

How will this resolve a thing as I said I got instantly hired to almost every dev PW by not even showing work and got a full nc. It seems if they get control of any server they can take down graal so this will just add one more step which is just removing a server option.
