maybe I post my dad's story, he was a vietnam refugee during the war.... He being the oldest son of 9, had to take care of the family and be a "leader" (vietnamese custom). He started going to college in saigon, yet he left for the US, the day after he left the north vietnamese army attacked saigon. HE has been through hell and beyond...He sat on boats for half a year with thousands of other people, only eating rotten shrimp and rice, he spent some time on waike island, and finally made it over to the US. This whole time all he had was a bag the size of a bowling ball bag, he had with him, his official documents, 2 pairs of underwear, one pair of paints, his shoes, and 2 shirts. He started going to college into chicago...then went to graduate school in berkely, paying is way by working around the clock and never having the luxuries of many other college men... He eventually was able to apply to the communists to have his whole family sent to the US. (you couldn't leave unless the commies said so) He finally recieved a Ph D in math from berkely, and now makes over a little over 100k as a radar engineer for raytheon.

If this can, I hope this is an inspiration for you people that feel abused or mistreated. I'm sure you have more than nothing, which was pretty much what my father had...Hang in there, and never give up.

Evildred144: we dont do anything a normal family does.. we cant order dinner out , go out and do stuff as a family or even see a movie. We cant afford it. Basically We are just surviving.. and I never said I was ungrateful for my computer.. I thanked my grandmother all the time for it Because My parents didnt have the money to get me one and they barely have the money to pay for the internet. This summer I had to help my dad paint this womans House because we needed some extra money. I really want to go on vacation one year because Ive never been on one... but its still gonna be a few more summers. Of course I dont blaim my Father for being poor... The reason were poor was because When my father was in 11th grade he had to go to 11th grade during the day and 12th at night because He needed to get a job to support my grandmother.. she had alzheimers ( cant spell it but she died of course... :( ) so he had to take any job he could.. Which was being a custodian at a elementry school. My fathers very smart and Was a straight A student. He just couldnt do anything with it because of the situation. - . - I said before I had it bad and compared to alot of familys I do.

I used to be very depressed and thought about suicide but I always decided not too do it because in judaism suicide is a horrible sin and it would not be worth leaving what seemed to be a bad life, just to go to an even worse life in hell for awhile...
and because even though my life seemed horrible I still loved my grandparents and parents and I didnt want to inflict pain on them... finally last year my mom took me to a psychiatrist cus she knew he was a good one cus that is the one she goes to,
and he perscribed a medicine called welbutrin for me.
and I am back to the same happygolucky kid I was when I was little.

Konidias you have to understand someone who is depressed like that there brain functions differently then normal. In every brain there are these things that release this chemical which is what keeps you happy and lets your brain sense enjoyment and crap, in some brains there are faulty parts and it releases not enough or abnormal amounts of it. thats why I take my medicine because it alters the release of the hormone so that my brain functions normally. Also you said to consider how people living in a thrid world country feel, its not that simple. If you werent allowed to be sad because other people have bigger problems that would be redicilous. Because yes America isnt a third world country but when you see that everyone else is being accepted and having fun, and you are cast out and seem deprived you are upset, sure you arent as deprived as people in a third world country but in that third qorld country most people are deprived and its their normal life, while as to your brain it seems as if everyone else isnt having a crappy time and you are. Its all caused by chemical imbalances in the brain and whatnot, so its hard ot understand if you dont have those imbalances, but you shoudlnt laugh at someone because they do and they were going to kill themselves, because doing so would be like laughing at a blind person or a mentally challenged person.

My life is good. My dad makes 150k a year and my mom doesn't have to work but she works as a secretary so shes not bored. My mom had to goto rehab once for a month for taking pills and alchohol. She wasn't as bad as she thought. I get almost whatever I want due to the fact I'm an only child and I love life. I get good grades and I plan on trying to get into NYU when I graduate.

A psychologist is someone who talks to you about the problem you have, they logically tried to help you get through your psycho problem (eh best way i coudl explain it) a psychiatirst is someone who perscribes medicines to correct the chemical imbalances etc...
not all of them are fools,
some are very good, although I dislike psychologists cus they are never really helpful. And about the money thing, I dont think he hates his parants cus they dont fork over money. I used to get upset like that too but it was I just got upset because my parents didnt have any money to give me,
I go to private jewish school so they spent what money they had on education, even so I still need partial scholarship. I was just upset that while all the poeple I knew got what they wanted and did what they wanted, I couldnt. My life is getting better, and my parents are making more money, its just they have both unfortunatly been screwed over jobwise before, my mother several times, and also other things got in the way of jobs, my mom used to be an alchoholic etc...
anyway now I barely ask for anything and when I do my mom either gets it for me or tells me when she wil be able to get it...
anyway its not a amtter of being spoiled or ungrateful, its chemical imbalances.

My dad got layed off and couldnt get a job for like a few months, and that sucked, but my mom works, so we were ok, he just recently got a new job. He doesnt make too much like over 100k or anything though, maybe like 75k tops, but my mom and dad both work so we do okay. suicide is kinda selfish.

Medicine like anti-depressants usually makes depression worse because people feel they have to rely on drugs in order to live normally and to some, that just depresses them even more.

Tons of people have chemical imbalances in their brains, there are ways to fight it off naturally though.
