Why is that? I don't talk with words like "u" "y" and other verbal expressions such as those so why are you acknowledging the fact that "My English skills aren't good."? I think I type just fine and I take my time.

Even if it were not for errors such as the earlier missing comma, your wording is simply clumsy and unappealing.

Which is your opinion.
How exactly can someone's "wording" be clumsy? Are you trying to say I am horrible at the English language and in simpler terms "I suck at English"?

Don't worry, there are others on the reporter team that are horribly worse.

Pith, what do you mean?

WHIPENIE4 05-30-2002 06:12 AM

Sure some reporters might make some silly spelling mistakes or forget a comma here or a period there, but thats on the boards if they made the team its obviously because they did a good job with what they wrote about and the wording they used was good. Some people might tend to "slack off" you could say when writting on the forums, im sure you won't find a spelling mistake in the articles they wrote though.

Why would Mr. Bear or Unixmad hire someone who isn't good at spelling when they want the reporter thing to work out?
....its cause they did hire people who can spell well and make an interesting enough article to get picked.

My article was already published on the main site. The one that describes shield crafting and it includes a picture. Stefan provided the article on it (I provided the marvelous picture).

Yes, exactly. When I am typing up a report I make sure I type accurately and without any mistakes aswell. That is also why when we have reports we post them in our private forums so that others may view it and make corrections as we go. So far the team has just been started, it will get better as time passes.

You simply cannot eloquently construct sentences.

I didn't fault spelling, though I certainly could, given that Mr Bear doesn't spell-check reports before he puts them online. What I faulted was a general ability to use English in an efficient and effective way. And as I already explained, Unixmad and Mr Bear aren't the best judges for something like this, and could realistically let someone through without them being skilled writers.

I actually posted a thread in the relevent hidden forum about this, detailing a superior way for the system to be organised. Mr Bear later deleted it in a mass misuse of his moderator powers. My personal opinion? I don't think that idiot should be put in charge of anything more important than opening a can of beans.

Oh, well trust me, if you've seen some of the posts from people that represent Graal when it comes to news, you'd be very dissapointed to and embarrased for Graal too.

I suppose Unixmad and Bear were hiring on the basis of first come first serve, and that if someone has the slightest clue what you're talking about then you're hired. I seriously do hope this is not a business tactic they emply in other areas. Graal needs the few intelligent people we have to post news, not some ordinary Joe who knows how to replace proper words with "u" and "r" and "ur" etc.

Only if he had parental supervision, of course.

Most people on the team are pretty good spellers and good with punctuation so it's not all that bad, and the ones that aren't the best have the others to pick at there small mistakes.

All in all I think the reports will turn out good.

[edit] See we all make mistakes I forgot the s on reports :( [/edit]

Simple competence with spelling and punctuation should be a bare mininum requirement. Nobody should've been picked if they couldn't string a sentence together without making mistakes. And even then, they shouldn't be involved if they can't write in an engaging and effective manner.

Amagius 05-30-2002 09:56 AM

I'll dont care about the 99 RC, I just want my Fritos!

Torankusu 05-30-2002 10:42 AM

I'm the worst.

It's an academic fact.

Projectshifter 05-30-2002 11:30 AM

I can string together sentences quite well I believe. Go Kai! Hell yeah, I agree 100% with you. The team of reporters should not just be people who know how to type, but type interesting stories that use "color" and make a bland story interesting.

Saga2001 05-30-2002 03:26 PM

i give information's! naw, i am joking, i would do this, but i am purely staffish, not playerish, i don't play...:( i am too much of a loser...

Projectshifter 05-30-2002 07:52 PM

LOL. I like dealing with players, but even more I like to make NPC's and such. I loved it when I was staff because I could just connect to my RC and still be in contact with the players, and yet be able to work without having to worry about being attacked.

LOL! Mr. Bear seemed to like my application enough to ask me for my account name, but he doesn't seem to be doing anything or even getting online?

I sent in my application a few days ago. Unfortunately, I haven't heard a reply yet.

Zach1 05-31-2002 08:50 AM

I've heard that MrBear, and unix have not talked in a while.. maybe this could mean that there is still a chance for people who didn't get a responce in their email to get a job with the Reporter Team...

Projectshifter 06-01-2002 12:22 AM

I am just going to e-mail my application to Unix now. Mr. Bear I believe already gave me a job (not 100% sure) but it wouldn't hurt?
---Shifter

Torankusu 06-01-2002 01:46 AM

i got access to the forums the morning after I e-mailed my application (to both at the same time.)

Projectshifter 06-01-2002 06:29 AM

Heh. I only e-mailed mine to Bear, but I just sent mine to Unix. I'm in the US, so I am sure that Unix is on a different time zone that is several hours ahead of mine. It is probably the middle of the night for him now. =/

Zach1 06-01-2002 10:58 AM

unix has'nt been on for about two days. dont get your hopes up for a response tonight, or most likely tommorow for that matter.

AlexH 06-01-2002 11:01 AM

I had access to the fourms the morning after too. :)
I got reply from Unix and Mr Bear really fast.
I almost died of shock at the response speed.
Especially of Unix.

=/ Mr. Bear wrote me back shortly asking for my account name. But then again, I haven't heard back yet :(

Judge_Spunky 06-02-2002 04:53 AM

I still haven't heard a reply from either, but I did only send it to Unixmad.
