Bell is one of the most mature, levelheaded, and logical people you will ever meet on graal. I do believe one of her most enduring traits is her incredibly good judgement, which fits in perfectly with her position now.

I did not know popularity made you better at a job; I thought it was skill. Silly me!

Its deals with a persons background. Thats like asking why being a Nazi in Germany has anything to do do with becoming presidents in the US.

Background goes beyond popularity. Bell has maturely handled players and situations on classic even on its more popular days. Background and Popularity are not linked.

Ah yes, the eternal "Of course I promoted my friend, I know him, I know he can be trusted" debate.
Is it wrong to be friends with those you trust?
Is it wrong to trust your friends?
Is it wrong to promote people you trust?

If I recall correctly, it was ruled that preferential treatment begins and ends when an admin deigns that they trust their real-life friends more than they ever could an internet staffer - primarily because it's not valid in the first place (see the many OMG MY BROTHER HAXED ON MY COMPUTER IT WASN'T ME! issues).

We were lucky in the LAT. We could always point to a skill set and say "Of course Floydian's second in command, his stuff's awesome". GP, etc., you have to go off a service record.

Which is why Bell (assuming it's been absolutely verified Bell is the same Bell that has always been Bell) is well-suited to global administration - it's not a question of preferential treatment towards Oldbies, it's a question of promoting the most experienced candidate. Yes, that means Newbies and The Unknown won't have the same shot as Oldbies, tough noogies.

Why do you think popularity instead of thinking personal relationship with the community. Don't treat it like highschool lol. Anytime people run a spot in the state or country or even business they try to develop a relationship with the people that they are going to be serving and working with.

Stop the useless ramblings before your points, it's annoying. So she is most experienced for the job? Please explain to me how?

Tyhm 02-11-2007 01:40 AM

"Experienced" I say and not "Qualified", as I can't speak for the latter.
And Experienced applies because short of Peach suddenly appearing, it would seem Bell's got the most hours of adminship stretching the furthest back, assuming you discount PW Owners, which you ought, as they're admins of their servers 24/7.
Now, if you're willing to bring proof to the table that someone with more Experience applied and was denied this job, let's see it and I'll recant my claim that Bell was the most experienced applicant.

Thats kind of hard to do dude, since it was an "In House" hiring, and no one was allowed to even apply.

Devil 02-11-2007 01:43 AM

Andy speaks for me. He is correct, I can't provide proof someone was denied, because it was done in a bull**** manner.

Tyhm 02-11-2007 03:07 AM

That much is a valid complaint - OMGWTFBBQ, You just hired someone and nobody even gots to apply, BS BS!
Which is why in the LAT I established the (menial and painstaking) practice of announcing each hiring season, taking applications over the course of a week or two, distributing them among the surviving LAT Members, tallying up their votes, and announcing the winners (while, to avoid embarassing them, not mentioning publically how many people didn't make the cut).
Ironically, I once applied myself as a LAT while still the chief. I was the only one who voted for me. :-D

Devil 02-11-2007 03:12 AM

Wtf? I don't care. As I said before, quit your ramblings and just say your point in the future.

Rapidwolve 02-11-2007 04:14 AM

Bell, wth? Are you new or something. Sorry if an answer to this was posted i didnt read all posts.

Devil 02-11-2007 04:22 AM

No she isn't new to Graal. Another old person, old as in with age aswell.

kia345 02-11-2007 05:48 AM
