There are a lot of graphical glitches like that one, with a lot of errors saying "Problem locking DirectX surface for writing" in the F2 window. Graphics work properly in OpenGL mode, but it's noticeably slower (OpenGL isn't well supported by most drivers yet). I get stuff like what you see in the screenshot below, and also strange graphical corruption (like cars on Era showing distorted bombs from spites.png)

edit: added Era screenshot

Yes

I'll go into Graal with the DirectX 10 beta hopefully installed and take a few more in a bit.

I tried to log on before, and I got the same errors, more errors etc..

Then I tried an hour later, logged onto Delteria and received no problems at all, it's totally random.

The name change seemed to work for me. I just took out the 4 in the .exe name. But I'm having problems with my graphics. On every server, the animated flowers keep flashing and causing a lot of lag.

**UPDATE
It just crashed out of random :( so the name changing thing didn't work, i guess :o

Please everyone who has Vista try following:
Rename Graal4.exe to a filename with at least 9 characters before the dot (e.g. Graal4bla.exe) and then start it and try to open the PMs.

Didn't help :[

Did it still crash with an error, or just show a blank PM window and freeze? If the latter, disable HTML in PMs.

Sometimes it doesn't crash at all, it's just stuck as an invisible process.

Admins 02-24-2007 12:01 PM

It can sometimes freeze when an external program is started (e.g. a link a PM). The problems with the tiles might be the same problem like with the classic bodies sometimes not being drawn correctly, will try to fix that soon.

Hmmm I am wondering if the new Nvidia driver is fixing some problems may be? They have just released the first non-beta driver two days ago.

A small Idea

Maybe you can try configuring the file so the compatibility for it can run as a Windows XP Service Pack 2 module?

Devil 03-07-2007 01:46 AM

You mean right click on the program .exe and choose Windows Service Pack 2? Nah, it's already been tested I think.

Delta2004 03-08-2007 08:41 AM

Yeah, that doesn't work.

I have had no freezing issues but, I do have graphical glitches and an error while exiting Graal, I have to end it with task manager, the graphics drivers are up-to-date, but this is a laptop, nVidia GeForce Go 6150, Vista 32 Bit.

Oh, so you gave up with BeOS? >_<
