Btw I really don't get you referring to it as a RP server and not a PK server... I really think that line has become quite blurred on GK and it's hard to put a label on the server.

It's easy, just read the description of GK in the wiki. Perhaps you are right that line became blurred, but it that really a reason to destroy it more and more?

Whatever Stefan is the manager and if he think it fits he has his reasons. I've just shared my thoughts.

So why it make sense to hide helmets and cloaks but not weapons and body armour? I miss the logic.

I know this is going to come as a surprise to you Sam, as I would guess from your previous statements you've not put much thought into your posts, but a user who wishes to RP can.... in fact... show their armor. If a community of users wish to RP they can all selectively choose to display their items rather than hide them.

If anything, this opens the door to the majority of users who don't LOLRP and wish to have decent looking characters.

It's not a surprise to read that from you Stephen as I never saw you RP.
Stefan can make disable all stats on armour and just have a tableau to change the stats we've earned. Now we do not to take care anymore for any look, we can choose whatever we want to wear and being all equal looking.
This hide improvment set back the server a lot.

Really? That's probably because you've only been playing six months, or something.

Yea, all of those different heads, bodies, and hairs sure don't count.

I never got an answer for the question I raised, Stefan. Would it be possible to make body armor and shields hideable as well?

(Hiding the shield would disable the player from holding it out.)

It so happens that graphics are not required to RP.

This is coming from one of the frequenters of Valikorlia, Graal's flagship roleplaying server. Make note of that.

You might want to point out which ones those were.

I admit to only be playing since 2003, but I still feel the need to provide an exmaple for my previous statement.

Say I want to RP a character on GK that has a streak of blue, pink and green hair (Though I'm not sure why I'd want to). I could RP this character without the actual hair GFX, by stating in an OOC statement if it ever arised (or was talked about) ICly. Thats what we do most of the time on Val - or is often done/said by staff, but most people still get uploads. However, it can be done.

Draenin 11-29-2006 05:52 AM

The only thing image appearance actually effects is weapons, because they have range. It's not like the shields actually work.

ReBorn_Spirit 11-29-2006 11:35 AM

A nice addition would be the ability to set your shield to stand on your arm or on your back. I really do not think I would even want to carry a 75 pound shield on my .. ever.. for that matter.

I could probably help with the Gani problems with the cloak being over the shield, it looks so much better on the side view when the shield is overthe cloak like it should be, though now I have my cloak invislble.

Sam just because we have the hide option for a few things don't mean it will affect rping on gk...in fact i see very little..the only thing it will do is bother pkers.

I've said what I wanted to say about this topic, beside this I don't think PKers will be bothered by this, 'cos its irrelevant for PKing if its visible or not.
