No, I'm not. You were clearly the only one that mistook it, unless I stand mistaken. At least, you were the only one aloud that mistook it, I'm sure there's other people that mistook it too. But that doesn't matter because they aren't the ones bashing Scott because of it.

Scott committed plagiarism.

So what if he did? Dude, no one cares except you. This isn't an art museum, and the last time I cared to notice, the world doesn't evolve around you. It's unecessary. Just get off his nuts, ok? You're an admin. Act like one.

anyone for an argument?

alarid0 02-19-2004 08:25 AM

*getting....angry...GAH*

Seems you used the pic and deliberatly avoided to mention the fact that you didn't draw it.

Yes, this is plaigarism, and you know it. Don't try and stretch the truth, don't scramble for answers defending it, don't try and get anyone to believe you because *big shock* NOBODY DOES. You're making no remotely believable way to justify it, and you just don't want to admit it. Give up, fess up, and shut up...please

I do not see any writing, words or ideas here. This so is not plagiarism. Although he did not create the design, and he never claimed he did, he still created a `pixel' version of it. Give Scott some credit for his work, yes? Or go troll another forum.

*shrug* I was going to say that, but I'm sure their probably going to come up with another ******* excuse for that. The only thing I can think of why they're doing doing this is because of jealousy, especially now that Scott can't defend himself.

Alarid: *middle finger* Right here, buddy.

I dont mean to sound ****y and no offence to scott but I nor alarid nor zen have nothing to be "jealous" of. We are very good artists who can do just as good if not better and how dare you give the finger to not only my staff member but one of my best friends.

Actually I was not going to respond again because I knew Scott was getting banned.

The fact is, when using somebody elses work to make your own, it is OK as long as they are given proper credit (and in the case of gfx: permission if possible). I had good reason to suspect that Scott was intentionally leaving out the fact that he copied the character exactly from somebody elses work, even the shading pattern is mimiced.

Loriel, if you'll notice, in the same post I had stated Scott had committed plagiarism, I was talking about claiming written work as your own immediately before that. I was making reference to that example, connecting the two ideas. Besides, the meaning is close enough to what actually happened. :)

When he first came to the community (or whenever it was that I first became aware of him in the community), he was only a web gfx artist really, and was caught presenting works of art as his own from other places on the web. I received a complaint via AIM from another user and sent me 2 links to compare. Except in this case he wasnt attempting to replicate another peice of work, he didnt even edit it.

My original intention was not to start an argument, but I wanted to point out to him that he needed to clarify -- And when he wouldnt, I did it for him.

There is no excuse.
