Hm, question. Is 3DMAX similar to Lightwave? When I used to take computer animation we learned the basics of lightwave..basiclly all the "tools" in the modeler and some in the animator.
Well, if I remember right, 3dMAX costs about 2,000 bucks, could be wrong though, but it was expensive.

I used to edit a little too, I was waiting for "Emma" or whatever that thng was called to come out, but I got uninterested, along with my transmogrifier stopped working. The Sims textures were pretty basic, sometimes.. I made a few "Stephen" Sims in my time ;) (by editting their face)
Really? I just lost my CD :(

make the game more graalish? That's stupid.

We wanna try and improve the graphics, we went from classic (big head with small body) to (original human 3d 2d gfx (kingdoms)- now lets go beyond that and make it 3D.

((which theyre already doing))

I'm really looking forward to the release... I'm gonna upgrade my VIP once it's released :D

How about a graal character that can be viewed in any angle that looks exactly the same as those loveable zelda pudgey characters :D

Next step is to start the alpha testing and have a few other Graal staff (non Cyberjoueurs) access the server and help us correct the biggest problems.

I will not give a timeline right now but we plan to open the 3d engine to playerworld creators that are interested to work in 3D and also release a demo world as template.

For all other player we are working on a nice 3d project (nothing to do with the screenshots we have released last year), it's really based on the Graal style and also take a lot from what have made the success of graal.

it's very hard to give a timeline but we will probably be able to show screenshots in February and release something before April.

For the technology we have used part of torque but we have rewritten lot of code and we are also not using torque script but the new graal scripting language.

Saying that Graal3d is torque is like saying that most games are renderware engine, torque is a nice middleware but nothing without lot of work and rewriting.

We are mostly using torque because it saves us lot of testing for all the 3d card on the market. Compatibility is the most difficult task when you make a 3d engine.

The only reason I upgraded, is because there was an old thing on the main site saying that VIPs could test Graal3D, and I upgraded, and we can't.. Thats false advertisement and kinda pisses me off :\

I mean the tools, interface, and such. I got used to Lightwave so I want to know if it will be easy for me to adjust to 3dMAX. If so, I'll "get' it. (dont ask how you pirating things you)

marcoR 01-12-2004 08:20 PM

When I first started using 3DS Max I considered suicide.. not joking - but that thing is a snot to get used to, and the rendering will eat you alive. I mostly used it to learn about 3D stuff, and make art... now I use a perfectly legal version of Bryce 5 :)
