If they aren't such a big deal, than why put up such a stupid debate as to why they should be removed? Imo, if you really care about some random person telling you that you have no life because of the hours you have spent on Graal, my first impression is that you actually don't have a life.. Maybe the emo people that are taking it so harshly really should heed what these newbs are telling them and get off Graal.

They're often used as milestones.

I have alot in total, but I don't care about them :P considering I was required minimum 4000 hours (which I passed long ago that time) as base to join Darkshire in 2006

Just ignore the jealous idiots. You really don't have to put up with people like that.

XyphosMisery 02-28-2010 12:18 AM

Hours were mainly used as a sense of progress back in the day. Now everyone has well over one thousand hours on all their favorite servers and its not as special anymore.

DesirableDreams 03-04-2010 05:47 AM

I've been harassed about my 5K hours on Graal Kingdoms before. But I dont giving a flying fk anyways, i have thousands of hours on each server. I have at least 3-5k On UN too from when I use to play. get over it. a lot of people like to idle and enjoy coming back every 15-20 minutes to messages. Just like when you keep opening your phone for a text message, its just a way to waste some electricity by leaving your computer up, but for people its a form of communication, much like texting-calling-emailing-and/or messanger services.

Noobs are just jealous.

Seriously, I don't think anyone would be jealous about someone having 20,000 hours. :p

People should be proud about their hours.

SKJF91 03-04-2010 08:30 PM

Wait.. is this seriously being considered a problem? Over 10 years of graal, and now theres a problem with hours? Hours build up, that happens.. whats the big deal?

FuManchu 03-04-2010 10:53 PM

Times change
Pretty sure hours stopped being proof of oldbieship when people started gaining 4000 hours in 2 or 3 years while people that had been playing 7 years still had that amount.

Cloven 03-04-2010 11:06 PM

The only reason such things are a problem are because people choose to act infantile and make such things a problem in the first place.

Obviously, at some point or another, we all made a decision to download, install, and play and/or develop on this game. That fact alone negates any logical reason for onlinetime to be a problem, let alone be enough of a problem that some new option needs added to rectify it.

Little, irrelevant, insignificant things like this take away both from otherwise quality suggestions & improvements, and from time to work on presumably more important endeavors.

I mean sheeeesh, are people really worried about onlinetime harassment more than they are the deterioration of the game (both technically and socially)? Seems to me that if hours played are a greater concern than staff inactivity, corruption, back-door scams, and random distribution of child pornography.. I'd say to those people: You ALL have some DEEP personal issues to work on.

So people should stop playing so they aren't harassed?

It's a good improvement because it'd be removing what many now consider a stigma and would be taking an amount of verbal harassment off the game that's significant enough for me to post about.

Harassment over hours is the deterioration of the game socially. Corruption will never ever end, especially on UN, and you can't really stop people from the act of distributing child pornography.

You can stop people from harassing others because of hours by making hours toggle-able or removing them altogether publicly. You can't stop people from massing the child porn. They do end up being banned in a hurry, though.
