When I made the thread OSL had several scattered around. This does ocassionally happen and I think announcements can simply be placed on under some kind of notice board on that wall in OSL which has the two coke machines.

Frankie 02-05-2009 05:08 PM

their point is not only to get rid of staff blocks in osl now, but to prevent clutter in the future.

Nataxo 02-05-2009 09:48 PM

Current Staff blocks:

Two at unstick me.
like 6 at redfox club.
3 at a SR house.
3 at the eggroll shack

DuBsTeRmAn 02-05-2009 10:31 PM

Dont forget the mall, Oh and when the hotel was closed.. Around 50-75 blocks at the door..

salesman 02-05-2009 11:04 PM

Yea but those were actually "blocking"

Andre2006 02-05-2009 11:05 PM

Those staff blocks at red fox are to prevent people from getting in, and im sure its the same with the mall, though I think they should really remove the "link" to the level so nobody can get in, then theres no need for those blocks ^^

salesman 02-05-2009 11:06 PM

It wouldn't be hard at all to create a system for setting doors to allow staff only, or no one at all (if that's what you want).

DKH89 02-05-2009 11:07 PM

angel and deo didnt want people in the mall till it was finished and instead of wasteing the time with a script to kick them out we went with blocks. i dont see why its a big enough deal to start a topic with 6 pages

Andre2006 02-05-2009 11:08 PM

It's not a big deal at all.

I'm not being mean or anything, but it takes literally two minutes to open the level, freeze the door script, and then reupload it. No staff is ever working too hard to spare two minutes.

sure it is.

I know when I was staff I used to block buildings off with staff blocks all the time. I didn't really think twice about the presentation of the level. now that people bring it up I see that it would be a nice improvement to replace staff blocks with other forms of limitation for specific areas.

what looks better? a door with staff blocks placed in front of it or a door with a sign that says "under construction" ?

you can do it just as easily as a staff block. have it so you say a command and click a door to change it's graphic to a door with a sign on it which also breaks the link. not hard at all.

BlueMelon 02-06-2009 12:54 AM

Just maybe 2 staffblock would do the trick to block the door off.

Nataxo 02-06-2009 12:56 AM

Who remembers the amount of staffblocks blocking the hotel door? it was hilarious, I should've taken a picture lol

=/ i wanna smack u for saying this lol. <3

people use there cars to get in.

when the hotel was up we had 2 rows of block from eevery angle and people still got in. I was busy with the levels and just never took the time to add the script that kicks everyone out. Like sales said it would took 2 minutes but w/e, blocks arent a big deal

this topic went way to far

Hi, I'm not Sales.

If you're actually working on a project, and not just making a quick fix, it's always better to disable the door script.

DKH89 02-06-2009 06:30 AM

oh sorry mange lol i couldnt remember who said it =p

CharlieM 02-06-2009 02:11 PM

You don't even have to put a script in, You open the outside level, and you see the little gold box at the doorway? Remove it. but save the x,y if you are lazy like me.

Most if not all of Era's doors are level npcs with a certain class joined, which just needs some variables set to function as a warp. I don't think there are many regular level links left on the map.

What few were left were removed when helicopters started to be worked on.

salesman 02-06-2009 09:40 PM

I abused the crap out of links + helicopter :D

I use Arial size 13
edit: graal always has so much text everywhere that it's really a nice break when you have smaller font.

I think Chris made a scrolling messages thingy, but I'm not sure if it was supposed to replace staffblocks or not.

Still don't see whats so wrong about good old fashion signs. Especially pieces of paper with "Notice" printed visibly on them.

Is it necessary to put 200 blocks, just to prevent someone getting inside,
couldn't you maybe just disable the link and/or block it with BLOCKING tiles.
