The real oldbies are the ones that have realized it's fruitless to sit and bicker about what an oldbie is.

3.Unholy Nation under Liquidice + Acidice. (Does anyone remember the skateboards or the dance npc with my Kappa Dances?)

Mafukie 08-30-2005 12:20 AM

Milkdude99 08-30-2005 12:30 AM

Well really there was only Classic at the time and Npulse came a while later and I move to Npulse to play..

AlexH 08-30-2005 12:52 AM

I remember when UN was still a secret area on Bravo Online... You had to be friends with the staff or LiquidIce in order to go play in it. It was pretty sweet back then.

bobbyk currently plays Delteria on a trial account. I never really spoke to him, but I guess I see him on fairly often.

Really? Cool, I'll have to check in there once in a while.

Anyway I would a Graal oldbie is someone who has been periodically playing for quite some time. I personally started playing the 1.28 beta version of graal right after I played that joke-of-a-java version. Anything before the big v2.0 update should be considered an oldbie.

Recognition for you guys...post if you played before v2.0
(and if not don't post here about your opinions..thats flaming and you nubs have no say,k.) :whatever:

You need to die.

Torankusu_2002 08-30-2005 06:41 AM

The earliest version I can remember playing is 1.36.

I've been around for a while. I remember Mafukie too. :p

Coast D'Iaga, or whatever? I remember that place. I met some people there early 2000, and got them to upgrade when Newmain came out. Sorry, "Graal 2001."

I think oldbie is as much defined by someones attitude and valor, as the time for which they have played.

Actually, I did start about this time, but it was october '99. What was out then? Still 1.28? And, I agree about the attitude comment.

Sonniku4 08-30-2005 06:57 AM

Hoss is an oldbie. Dat guy's been around since....... I think 1.2.
Hoss Da Boss.
Anyone seen Obby? 7050 hours or something. i don't know, is she oldbie?
I was here since 1.6 or somewhere around that.
Don't know if I'm an oldschool oldb.

Obby has been around since at least ~2001, that I can remember.

Hours doesn't really define how long you've been around.
I have maybe 150 hours on classic, but I still remember when Antago suggested profiles.

StrykerTFFD 09-01-2005 05:03 AM

I'm plenty older than a lot of you

Splke 09-01-2005 08:52 AM

pre v2. cool. zelda online ftw.

I started when Andor was around. Is that considered "0ldb13.lolzola?"

I sure hope not.

HoudiniMan 09-01-2005 10:48 PM

I'd consider anybody who remembers the old days, before the great attitude change, to be an oldbie.
Additional points if you are nostalgic for those days :(

Draenin 09-02-2005 01:05 AM

I'm not gonna go by versions, since I don't remember the exact version that I started on. But anyhow, I played 'til Graal wnet P2P, stopped for maybe 1/2 a year to a year, and resubscribed. And to give you an idea of how long I've played, I started at 12. I'm 18 now. o_o

I've been a GP on "Classic" since I was 12 and I'm 18 now. Of course not continually due to people getting me fired for "less than truthful" reasons, but eh. ;)

Draenin 09-02-2005 01:56 AM

Oh, awesome. Same amount of time. =]

Unpredlctable 09-02-2005 02:23 AM

I could never remember when I started.
Classic was always my home server, always will be. hahar.
I can remember I started after P2Ps were introduced. Maybe on a short time after, but I can't really remember. I must've been eleven years old when I first started. :p So long ago it seems.

Anyway, as others have said, the people who take advantage of the fact that they've been around for such a long time, who brag about it, and try to belittle those who started after them just because of that fact alone, you can't call those people "oldbies" really. It's the folks who know it doesn't really matter, and that it's all about the way you act about it all.

Bl0nkt 09-02-2005 04:18 AM

I consider myself a middleagebie.

Started in 2002 1/2.

Lance 09-02-2005 05:57 AM

My interest in Graal was piqued playing something like a Java version of Zelda Online (I am actually not sure what it was called. Help?) at a friend's website, but it was not until several years and a new computer later that I signed up for an account and started playing Graal proper. :)

History eversince, eh cutie?

Westcoast12 09-02-2005 06:18 AM

playing graal since 2000 man it was so kewl up until it went P2P

adam 09-02-2005 06:50 AM

All I remember was it was at least 1.28 if not earlier.

And I remember it got down to zero players online at night.

I can't prove anything. ;) Don't really care.

Lemonegg 09-02-2005 07:07 AM

I started when i was 8, that was in 98. But somehow I ended up with 500 hours on Era and 250 hours on UN. Not too many people belive i accually did start in 98. So technically i am an olbie. ^^

Projectshifter 09-04-2005 05:40 AM

The earliest version I found on my computer once was liek a 2.13 or something, but I actually started right after 2.0 came out iirc.

HarDKoRe1234 09-08-2005 10:29 AM

yeah, 1.28 for me

Clash 09-08-2005 01:54 PM

it seems this thread is made up of people posting a bunch of innacurately calculated join dates to make themselves seem cool or something. :totally square daddeo.: >:\

but none the less i will tell you my history with graal!
i am not sure what exact year i joined however it was 97/98.
i seen a entry for a java "zelda online" game one arcadepod.com, and played it for awhile and then i seen a download for a directx verison at the bottom of the page so i downloaded it.

i also remember eating taco bell tacos at the time of my first graalian java adventure. the soft kind, that you could make in the microwave. mmmmmm

also for history's sake i recall the dates of the later versions but i will only post the most significant

1.28 > earlier 1998, came with gserver for testing purposes
1.33 > dupe bug fixed with dropping hearts, late 1998
around 1.35 > kharlia released on classic overworld as the first playerworld > mid 1999
1.37ish > kharlia gains own port # > mid 1999
1.39 > serverlist - late 1999
v2 > g2k1 land > sometime in 2001. i remember kharlia going P2P because someone had decided it was a great idea to use crappy light and gani effects and then nobody paid kharlia any attention so they renamed it valikorlia only to go down for like half a year and then come back with virtue as manager (THE START OF THE PROBLEMS OH NO).

in the end
kharlia (valikorlia) was the first playerworld
kharlia was the first (and last? i dont think there were any 'gold' playerworlds besides that) gold playerworld!
kharlia i believe was the first server ever to change its name (changed back to valikorlia - the name used when it was hosted on 1.28 server)

hooray for the mother of all playerworlds - valikorlia!

Admins 09-08-2005 03:27 PM

v1.3 was December 1999 (there was no v1.28, only v1.28test), v1.4 with serverlist in September 2000, v2 February 2001 with Graal2001

bef 09-08-2005 03:49 PM

I played once or twice with Wazza on Zelda Online, I started seriously playing in v1.3 I think...

Crono 09-08-2005 06:16 PM

I think I started in the 1.3* days...I think!

edit- guess I was wrong. I started @ 1.4 ^^ good days when graal was actually fun and a new experience.

Yeah Zelda Online was always java iirc (hell, that's when I originally started anyway, good times). I don't remember if I ever saw you around (you probably used different names anyway, I know I did). That was a good 7 to 8 years ago because I remember being either 13 or 14 when I first played zelda online and then Graal when Stefan started working on the original Graal client and I'll be 22 this year. :)

I've come and gone many many times in that period though and I don't even begin to have any sort of time for Graal now that I work as a commerical truck driver (48 state over the road). Good to see everyone around though before I get back in the truck in the morning.
