Why not instead of making you upgrade the account it resets every 30 days...

Err doesn't this defeat the purpose of a trial account? If you can keep resetting it what’s the point of upgrading? Then where is the money flow to keep Graal going? That is nothing more than a disaster in the making that way. Guys this is a business and a business cannot survive without an income coming in to keep it going. "Free Graal" was nothing more than a marketing ploy to gain a player base. Graal was never intended to be free as any Game you play either online or on DVD, money is the only thing that keeps it alive. Want to kill Graal? Make it free again till it goes bankrupt then it will be gone forever, then who loses?

30 days is too long moongod, id say 2-4 would be long enough.

I just posted that because most trial software is 30 days.

Sort of bringing life to an old thread, but I personally think saving on classic is a cool idea. But if you want to get more than 4 hearts, get a new sword or shield, etc, you need to buy an account! Basically you get very VERY limited features to give you a little taste of Graal. Another option is a small trial server showing things Graal can offer where you get the aforementioned 30 days to experience many things (there'd be an RP place, modern, etc so the player sees all the different themes)

Even though that'll never happen it's fun to think about it.

Right you are, Ken!

Why is it that all the good servers (classic/2k1) have slow managers?

Galdor 07-27-2004 08:57 PM

YESH! bring back my newbies to classic!
make classic "free"!

Skyerus 07-28-2004 12:15 AM

Let them payyyyy.

After the trial expires there should be a kiddie server for those who truley can't afford graal / have no way of paying for it. It could be a simple place ( heck it dosn't even need an npc server) hence it would cost less for graal.

Why would it cost less to not have an NPCServer...?

TonyRivers 07-28-2004 03:40 AM

I am just assuming that since pre p2p we were not allowed to have them I presumed this was because the cost money or they took more space or something. But I really know very little about them I am just guessing.

URBANLEGEND 07-28-2004 12:32 PM

Good thread revival XiLe. -.-

Ima layout it out plain and simple:

TRIAL ACCOUNTS ARE FOR TESTING THE GAME TO SEE IF IT WORKS ON YOUR COMPUTER NOTHING MORE NOTHING LESS

But if Stefan really wanted trials to save he would of never went p2p to begin with?
If trials are gonna save it shouldnt be on a server like classic. Like already suggested make a world for trials only. Hell, As far as im concerned Trials should only have access to one world to test the importent things.

Moon God's idea is good, but I think the rest of you are misunderstanding the point of a trial account.. :\

:edit: Urbanlegend's bold face is my point..

Tyhm 07-29-2004 12:11 AM

Nah. I like the idea of it going trial-free again. Mind, not You can save, but "You can write down a complicated password to save your progress up to the second sword, at which point you get nagscreened to upgrade whether you like it or not, by which point you should be sold on the idea of paying $20 to have Graal for life." Newbies are happy, Classic's happy, The Upgraded have a lower caste to pick on again, Unixmad gets more money out of the Server Sized Advertisement, everyone wins.
