As requested, the full list of restrictions on trial players.

Can't purchase a car
Can't participate in gangs or parties at all, including raiding
Can't participate in a business
Can't kill players to level up their health
Can't purchase a locker
Can't own their own house

Can't level their strength (carry more items, move quicker with items, more damage with certain melee weapons)
Can't participate in any team events

Can't place bounties, and can't accept bounties and kill others
Can't participate in seasonal events such as snowman building
Can't use the casino
Can't use powerful guns

Can't have bonuses from Bounty Hunter, top gang player, and the spar complex (which tracks sparring stats)
Cannot participate in Auctions
Limited upload/customization functionality

Perhaps this helps. This is the best I could glean from personal knowledge and what Zach told me a moment ago. Red things no longer apply to Era. Green are still (probably) implemented, and I put the business bit in yellow because trials can technically be hired and mine for businesses, just not stock.

Tim_Rocks 09-23-2012 03:35 AM

Seems fairly accurate, uh, as for businesses though, when I updated the business systems I made it so pc:##### accounts are the only ones limited from businesses (hiring anyway, not sure about stocking).

It is very excessive which is why a lot of them aren't in effect today.

I should have provided more context. I had to bend over backwards to get Stefan to even respond to my emails about observer mode back when I was managing Era. I wasn't going to let observer mode stay around because Stefan and I didn't agree on what constituted reasonable restrictions for trials. The easier route (and the one better for Era) was to get observer mode removed ASAP and then deal with the trial restrictions.

I removed a lot of the restrictions after that because Stefan wouldn't (and didn't) notice. He's made a lot of money off the gelat shop while ignoring things we'd asked for for years, so I don't feel bad about that, either.

That's the best point about this anyway. Removing some of the restrictions again didn't harm anyone at all.

What you cannot do on Era without observer mode: AFK forever.

lag_PKer 09-23-2012 02:25 PM

Lol @ that guy calling me an idiot because I said Era's players are extremely unfriendly (it's true).

Thanks anyway for the restriction list. You guys don't have to be so hard to get along with.

Era is dumb because Zelda doesn't have guns.

Hello,
If it were up to me I would force Zodiac into playing a level cap of 55. This level cap would enable useage of most armor anyway so they wouldn't get slaughtered in 3 seconds but it would disable them from being able to use the top tier weapons.

They would in fact get slaughtered in 3 seconds as CMPs account for a huge difference in combat. God help you if you can't even get the +15% damage and the defense CMPs. You're already at a major disadvantage, but to add insult to injury, you'd have a lower stat cap, unCMP'd skills making them weaker than they should be, and even more so if your skills are any element other than Fire as you will be unable to set your embrace.

With only that, you're already assured to lose almost every fight. But that's not it. We haven't even covered the fact that level 60 weapons tend to be about twice as strong as anything level 55 and lower, and the options for level 55 accessories are extremely, extremely limited. With the level 60 accessories likely to be far better anyways. It's at this point that you can kiss your chances of beating any level 60 player goodbye. Lastly, you would be excluded from many of the level 60 dungeons that provide better drop rates for armor, so you're probably going to be stuck paying out of pocket for it.

I haven't been a trial on Zodiac for a long time, but I do know that you cannot benefit from EXP buffs. And the fact that many of the prestige classes are locked to trials is enough to make them plenty envious.
