i dunno, barracades, auto turrets, stuff like that.

Huwajux 11-19-2008 09:21 PM

Anyone remember that Star Wars group or something? It was a bunch of trials who focussed their gameplay style on strategy and teamwork, they were highly efficient; or for the Zone players of today, they were extremely lame.

They weren't used as frequently as today, due to hotkeys not existing at the time, so it wouldn't of mattered if more people had them-- it was who was using them.

Agreed. It's how the jetpacks are used, and with hotkeys around, they are being used way too much and way too easily.

I disagree, I saw just as many people using jetpack then as I do now. As a matter of fact it was a little bit worse then because people would glitch themselves in the air so they wouldn't get hit.

Are they gonna fix this?

For your information, they're still glitching. From what I saw two years ago, they weren't being used as much. If you saw more use, then that depends what planet you frequented and if primarily trials or gold players were on at your time.

2004-2006 Zone was pretty much the only server I actively played. As I said before, though, jetpacks are not the problem. If members of both teams had the drive to take over bases, jetpacks will not hold them back.

Correct, they wouldn't be held back. The current problem would be that not enough people are contributing to get this movement going. The jetpacks DO affect the one scenario when only a few people are trying to take bases, rather than dozens on both teams.

I jetpack through bases like there's no tomorrow.

To fix Arctic, they must give players more exp/money. To make this actually matter, exp/money needs to be more useful.

Of course. Another thing could be to make it so someone has to stand on a base for 5 seconds or so to convert it to their own team, so people can't land on it with jets and take it really quickly.

Interesting idea, I like it. Could be modified and implimented :O.

Making it harder to take bases doesn't sound like encouragement for players to take bases... As Crono said, this has never been an issue. The current issue is that bases aren't captured, period.

We should just make base lamming against the rules.

1. No actually, those who aren't base laming nubs wouldn't be.
2. Whos to say if a rule was implimented, a lock would be the punishment?

If you actually start handing out jail/bans for base laming, then the Zone development team fails to find a way to fix this.

If its just a kick, good luck kicking twenty plus people who keep coming back.

I would never let anyone hand out anything more then a single /kick for base laming. And the "development team" obviously fails, as a solution has yet to been thought up.

And you'd be surprised how quickly I could eliminate all base lamers if I really wanted to ;P *has tested kicking base lamers*.

Cuz u nub 2 halp findz de planz of teh iiirca

pooper200000 11-21-2008 03:12 AM

The development team can easily make a solution, the problem is finding one that will work without creating more problems.

A few possible solutions are:
  • Add walls to slow travel - May kill Iricia
  • Add auto turrets - Can be tricked
  • Add a longer protection rate after spawning - Could be abused, and other reasons I can't think of off the top of my head
  • Create an invisible wall - Would just lead to wall laming. This would only work on a map with entrances and exits that are so numerous that escaping the wall is easy
  • Add secret passages out - Would be for only one team and could be a warp in area that would have multiple outlets. Could not be reentered. Could not be entered by the opposing team. Exits could be proxed unless the exits were actually random.

It doesn't make sense to slam the development team, when they could have put just as much thought into it. Some problems are very difficult to resolve so some things may not have occured to them.

The development team may have also thought of something, but may have not gotten around to implementing their idea.

  • x_X i like iricia because it barely has walls... O.o, no walls plzzz
  • i saw what turrets can do at debug..... terrible annoying idea x_x sorry raven
  • could work
  • nahhhh no wall, there was 2 be something better
  • sounds preety good, why not randomly when entering to your team warp some are warped inside the bunker, that way it would be harder for people to lame 2 places at the time.

=P

If a solution could be done easily, it would be. I'm aware of this. But it shouldn't take as long as it is lol.

Its not a slam? Its the truth. Base laming has been an known issue for a long time now.

1. Exaggeration.

2. See #1.

Deas_Voice 11-21-2008 04:16 PM

if "base laming" is going to be "illigal" a jail map/level could be a solution?
and for "fixing" the base laming (on irica?), i think that the Storm Riders (with is most lamed) should have more exists

It is not going to be illegal because even the Zone staff aren't stupid enough to do that. Zone has been utterly ruined by these awful marketing schemes that Stefan has introduced, and it has 'processed' the community into becoming kill obsessed freaks and becoming #1 on a weapon instead of them just wanting to have a laugh.

I think you hit it right on the spot with that one. Half the reason people buy new weapons from the Gelat store is because they want to get 1st with it before anyone else does... although some give up fairly early in the process.

pico if my idea is stubid then how come you don't think of anything???????????????????????????????
It would be better, but you still want to lame.

Lord_Conorr 12-04-2008 03:57 AM

This thread is just silly, okay. Base laming won't stop, so it's somehting you'll just have to stop trying to fight let happen.

Then again, if you do want to 'stop it', then try killing all of the players on the enemy team instead of letting your friends kill your teamates. Gosh.

Shadow5596321 12-04-2008 04:44 AM

Wow, why do I remember seeing you base lame the holy hell out of the other place everytime you and me are on at the sametime?

Bracca 12-04-2008 05:15 AM

can't they just like zone bases so if you are on the other team and go inside the zone for more than a set time it warps you to some random place on the map. i like sitting at enemy hq but u don't get much exp for it.
