It isn't an Era clone Era stole their ideas mate.

How old is utopia? Era was a UC server in 2002, possibly just before that.

Utopia was created in 2003.

Era DID take some ideas from Utopia, such as some events, but Utopia stole most from Era. Era's taken very little from Utopia, but it does bug me when people will get on and be like "OMG THAT GUN IS A COMPLETE RIP-OFF FROM ERA!!!!" when we made the gun 2 years ago, and it sucks, and they made one a week ago.

I really have to agree with that, Chris.

I think people automatically assume the most popular playerworld is the leader of all the innovations. However, stealing ideas from the competition happens and there's nothing that can be done about it. The only way to stop idea thievery is to change the theme a bit, which Chris is planning to do, correct?

Correct. It will still be modern, but less of the theme of just killing people. I hope to have more to the game than PKing/sparring.

Also, a few other ideas I'm not going to reveal yet.

Era clone... That name that is plastered on every modern server...
It makes me go insane... Stop labeling every frakin server that has a gun. Yes some servers are a complete cutout of Era, some are not.

Why the hell should you care if it is or not? You can always just decide not to sign on any of these servers. I'm sure we'd all be better off if you didn't aswell.

Some people tends to skip the last part or skips the 3 last

Well most modern themed servers end in a sort of era clone, and utopia definitly started as newbie project by some people who don't like how era is running atm, so I definitly still count utopia into that scheme.

When Utopia was successful, it was actually better than Era in my opinion. The problem is, there's no way it could go hosted/classic because of the abuse & being close to a clone.

But yes, I am remaking it. I guess I will have to rename it so people will stop coming in with these preconceived notions of how it is an "era clone".

Bravo Evolved was far from an Era clone. It would have worked but MD decided to have KINGDOMS on a MODERN server.

Heh, ya... Bravo Evolved was NOTHING like Era. It was more like a classic/modern server. I don't think they even had guns.

They didn't, until MD decided to add them against Darkon's wishes, which resulted in Darkon (and GlubGlub I think?) quitting and the server turning into ruins.

There were two Bravo Evolved versions. One was indeed an Era rip off, but the other is what we all remember. The one with sidewalks you couldn't walk on and stuff.

That's when it died, I think.

I do remember the era clone bravo evolved, now that you mention it. :(
