...spyro? well wasn't trying to create something cute tho :P

DustyPorViva 05-27-2008 10:50 PM

I think the polygons on the wing structure(the 'arms' going through the wings) could be better spent on the rest of the body, as I think the depth they portray could easily be pulled off with the right textures.

It looks like it has a male reproductive organ hanging from its chin.

... well was thinking like this (see pic), will use alpha layer on the textures later.

I was just saying how you could create a hit series of video games.

Galdor 05-31-2008 06:40 PM

Well guess I'm done with the modeling part of the dragon now, might not show that I did much but I redid the wing and arm as I had messed it up on some places xD 1180 faces atm.
Gonna try to uv map it now :)

edit: added a fancy wallpaper-ish render xD

Stephen 05-31-2008 08:48 PM

That's a nice one, you should add an additional poly above each eye so it's a little more rounded.

Are you going to texture him? Does he have a motion skeleton? You should work on that and animate him :)

haven't learned that stuff yet but will give it a try for sure =D

Robin 05-31-2008 09:32 PM

Should donate some of these models to Graal 3D :D

Galdor 05-31-2008 09:51 PM

well don't really need to donate any stuff to g3d as I'm already staff for it xD

Galdor 06-09-2008 07:03 PM

well got bored of the dragon xD
might make a new one tho, already started some on a concept.

so hot :)

Shakram 06-09-2008 09:31 PM

yeah really cool and amazing texture i like the style :)

Elk 06-09-2008 09:34 PM

wow awesome!

DustyPorViva 06-09-2008 09:38 PM

Needs knots or something. Right now it kind of of looks like the Like Likes from Zelda, but with little legs. I think it's because of the way you've skirted the bottom of the trunk. It needs more 'tree-like' qualities.

what do you mean?.. knots? xD
It's very low poly so needed some sort of stuff going on in the texture to not make it look boring, didn't mean to make it looks like zelda tho.

Galdor 06-09-2008 10:37 PM

umm... I donno about that xD

TheFisherman 06-09-2008 11:50 PM

I think it would be pretty easy? I'm not sure though because I suck at 3d modeling, but couldn't you just make a bump coming out of the tree and draw out a texture?

Shakram 06-09-2008 11:58 PM

i think this anime style is ok
there is no need for details in the tree :O
realistic 3D sucks ^^

Thanks to Glador for the Tutorial!
Unfortunately I did not buy it and could not save it to apply the handgun graphic from era. The tutorial really helped me a lot!
Era anyone? xD

Who said ANYTHING about realistic? A small detail does != realistic. It simply would make the tree look more like a tree instead of a brown dress.

Jeffyy 06-10-2008 12:41 AM

How much is Milkshape btw?

Galdor 06-10-2008 12:43 AM

yes ur logic is undeniable guys of course it would look like a tree if it had 1 bump or if I made a knot of the whole thing but w/e xD
i'll just play around some more with the texture and see if I can come up with anything.

My point is that right now it hardly looks like a tree at all. It just needs better definition.
This would be the best type of knot to do(my original suggestion):
http://nycphoto.interactivenyc.com/a...6/_MG_0768.jpg
Minus the bad wood.

Shakram 06-10-2008 02:31 AM

he has to play around with the texture on the roots thats all
nobody needs details on this to see that the thing is a tree
how more details he use it will become easier too see the copy paste if
he use the tree more than 1 time in a place
at all i saw a lot of 3D trees but never saw knots on them maybe 1 in 100
knots are ugly and an abnormity
so i hope galdor keeps this clear anime style

DustyPorViva 06-10-2008 02:55 AM

:/
Just because you can pass it off doesn't make it right. Most of the time you don't see knots on 3D trees because they are very skinny... a knot would be very fitting for this style of tree. Because 3D objects are often rotated, it also wouldn't look that repetitive.
I also don't think this is very anime-style at all... looks very... painted, more than anything.

Do you see any knots or shall i find bigger trees :O
you can say what you want its normal that trees in mmos dont have details skinny or not
even if you rotate them you see the copy paste effect easily
and with anime i mean this comic thing because the most textures are painted
even if they look real

Pfffs.... That's not even a successful game...
