-Picks up coffee and takes a sip- I can't believe how long I have gotten up, drank my coffee and read the forums. I can't believe how many years Graal has been such a major part of my life. It's been a strange... and fun ride through the many stages of Graal, I hope more fun times are to come in the next ten years. |

If you mean the second, then more likely 1999. If you mean the first, then probably 2000. |

I do remember that I kept trying to get my levels accepted by uploading them online, and Classic kept denying them, so I sent them to NP, and Geozgirl contacted me asking me to be a lat. Pretty sure it was on the playerlist. |

Then it was probably 2000. I think in 1999 we were still manually entering the port number for N-Pulse. It was almost the same as the port for the main server, but one or two digits off (like 14900-->14901) And there were classes like "Nightblade" and "Healer". I don't remember the others. Also, let it be known and respected that N-Pulse is sharing a fair share of a "GraalOnline history" thread, as it should be. |

If this game was once very good when it released then started to keep fading and fading in the coming years following with playerworld development and management, staff, etc.. i doubt the next 10 years wont be very bright. Real talk.

Happy birthday graal, and also grats Stefan.

And I think the people in charge got too ahead of themselves while doing stuff, and just ended up with an overwhelming amount of crap to fix. The transition from Graal Classic to Graal 2001 went smoothly. G2k1 lasted a good long while. Near the end, there was some debate about "new bodies" and HP system, but luckily, it was near the end already. So all was fine. Then it was time for Graal 2002. Looked nice. It felt nice. People such as myself who didn't like "new" g2k1 bodies somehow still liked GK bodies and movement. Actually, it seemed to be very similar to the greatly anticipated "Graal New World". After some while, things started going bad on GK. Bugs were found, but people had already abused them. Things were done to "balance" the game, but really created a terrible in-balance. Now we're still here in 2008, essentially, still playing Graal 2002... or you can say Zone is the new main server: A game about using a gun on a battlefield to shoot enemy teams and capture bases. Sounds like a first-person shooter really. Graal shouldn't try to compete with Half-Life :\ We need a new Graal server. A main server. Graal 3d seems to be the next thing, but that's been taking forever; and the idea of Graal going 3D doesn't really seem to interest many of us anyways. Progress can be made without going 3D. Some of us were lucky enough to see Zero's server Atexia AKA Gileada. Now THAT is the next generation of Graal. That's where 2D Graal should go. Me and some friends kept ourselves occupied playing on there for days, and the server was still in early development. We were using the in-game online level editor to build a castle. It wasn't like making graal levels either. This was totally user-friendly and kept simple. Too bad nobody is working on that server anymore :( Would sure like to see it revived somehow So, it's not about progress, but I think it's that generally we have to get some new stuff. I got bored of classic servers when I got into G2k1. I got bored of G2k1 after a while, and eventually got into GK. Zone caught my attention a little, but it just isn't the same. Now there's nothing new. Classic was replaced by G2k1. G2k1 was replaced by GK. And now GK needs to be replaced by something else. |
There are incredibly much servers that have quite a nice concept, but its just...People dont like to develop a server to the end.
Zodiac is one of the first things that I find a refreshingly new thing. A classic MUDlib. It works, look at the playercount! Zodiac is, although horribly done in graphics and concepts, one of the best things that could happen to Graal. Some projects, like Horrified's Horrification, are new as well, but I notice that he already gave it up, while he had such great idea's. And afcourse Zero's projects, which I find awesome in all ways, should be finished and playable, GO GET TO IT ZERO! :( ((Why did he stopped Dev anyway?)) My point is: There isn't enough good DEV talent out there. There are kiddies who can script like nobodies business, or GFX or LAT for that matter. But they all lack ambition and a common sense. Thats why I find the Developer's Circle a great idea. If someone asks me for help regarding concepting or leveling, I am always willing to help out. HINT HINT! :) |
