Your lighting is still wrong though, as Stephen and I both pointed out. |
It's MY planet :D
so it's right |
it looks better without AA, the jaggedyness of the corners kind of fit with the apparent bumpyness of the planet.
|
riiiight
|
Elk doesn't know what you're talking about because the planet isn't bumpy, that's just his lame way of shading the continents. The fact that it looks bumpy is why I told him he should fix them.

Don't try to act smart, you'll fail.

This has nothing to do with what he said before, I don't even care. I know he can do much better work than this, this planet is a piece of crap comparing to his other work. I've also said that I'm sure that he's a better artist than I am, still I don't care. But this planet sucks. |
if you think ^^
you suck too then! |

Atleast you don't have to worry d:] He was criticising your mediocre art, not you personally. No need for you to get all personal and attack him. |
Ignore Elk. He has this cry baby whiney attitude when it comes to people not liking his work. Several times he's simply deleted the original image after people say stuff like "its ok..." or "it sucks".
Regardless, im going to continue to believe that those light spots on the Earth are supposed to show elevation, and it really matches the jaggidy non-AA circle. :] |
lol
notice the caption underneath the image... maybe thats why it isnt as good as it could be? |

That made me giggle. Anyways, continent shape aside you could add dithering to make it look better and adding different geographical features on the continents couldnt hurt as well. Why do you have to be so hostile when people give you criticisms? |
Helm said it looks okay.

Elk, every negative review you ever get seems to make you angry. You seem to think you need no help and you're a graphics god, when in reality you're far from it. You have a little talent and you know how to use it, I've seen you attempt to range out your ability to other projects that aren't this kind of pixel art and they were terrible. You post here looking for praise, and when you don't get it, you fall on your stomache, slam your fists and feet and cry like a 4 year old in a supermarket. Your attitude needs to change drastically, because right now you just make yourself look like an *******. And before you reply with some retarded response like "i am god lol", shut up. |

Edit: Hehe...had some nice idea >:] |
Right. let's stop ganging up on Elk now, ok? If you don't like his work, just don't say anything. If you think you have a suggestion, I wouldn't bother - he'll have some half-baked response.
So basically, just look at his art from now on and don't bother commenting if you can't handle a half-baked comment. |
So in other words, if we don't stop shunning Elk for being a 4 year old...he'll cry to you and you'll come to his rescrew...er rescue.:pluffy:

Stephen....I love his work. But I just hate it when he acts like a god.

Ok, I couldn't pass up on this one.

I'll answer your question to Elk as he will not be posting in this thread until someone takes his side.
Yes. |

I hate the way your double standards are so clearly evident when it comes to Elk. Somebody else submits a crappy piece of work and says "took me 5 mins coz I was bored" and you flame them about using that as an excuse for it being crappy. Elk submits some crap and says it was "speed art" and you accept that as a valid reason for it being crappy. Somebody else posts something and says they don't want comments or criticism and you say that by posting it they should automatically expect comments ans critcism because these are open forums. But when Elk does it it's okay, and you try to make us seem bad for wanting to help him improve. And you delete my comments for calling Elk out, after he instigates it by calling me an idiot, but I'm not allowed to call him an idiot back because I can back it up and that might hurt his feelings. co*kyness comes with skill for most people

****yness comes when a bunch of people go around acting like your perfect no matter what you do and even if you could do better.

This is getting ridiculous. I have read the graphics forum for a long time and it seems that so many of these threads turn in to ego battles. I don't even bother getting involved with this stuff because so much of it becomes a waste of time on the part of everyone.
When it comes right down to it, being able to pixel isn't an all-to-prestigious skill. It's a fun little hobby that holds little significant application other than that (unless your goal in life is to develope halfassed Korean RPGs). If someone wants to act as though he or she is royalty for having that skill then so be it. I knew guys that acted like they were God's gift to man because they often won local Remote-Controle Car races. Would you like to know what happened to them? After a while, everybody hated them and the men completely lost interest in the event. CONGRATULATIONS TO THEM. I'm sure Elk gets the message by now. You're not going to verbally beat maturity into him. If he wants to continue his ways then let him. These constant dork fights aren't going to solve anything. |

An important thing to remember, when posting your work (speaking in general here) in the Development forums, is that we are not perfect, our work is not perfect, and everyone has different tastes, and sees things differently.
Some people will love your work, others will not. These people who do not like your work may offer ways they think you can improve on your work. Isn't that the point of posting your work? My advice is: If you cannot handle some people not liking your work, or a piece of your work, and you cannot handle people giving you advice to make something look better, then do not post your work. We do not allow outright bashing of someones work here, but constructive critisism is allowed, and should be/is appreciated for the most part, so if you can't handle it, it would be better not to post your work. @Elk, your work is really good. So some people don't like this particular piece of work, so what. Just because one piece of work is not liked, doesn't mean you aren't good. I hate most famous paintings that go for thousands, if not millions of dollars too, does that mean they aren't good because I don't like them? No, it just means they simply are not my taste. Someone must like them, since these famous artists are...well...famous. ;) |
