I'm in for anything that will help Shawn be known more widely and cared for. He deserves it more than anyone I know.

D4rKv310c1ty 01-21-2006 06:46 PM

Good, thats one. Thanks for your input Huwa

refinoheat2 01-21-2006 07:03 PM

I didn't personally know him but from seeing his server and hearing things about him, seems like he was a great guy, and a good friend. I'm sure he will be missed.

Lord Sephiroth 01-21-2006 07:17 PM

Think we could get a message in the v4 screen on the log-in window with a little "Rest in Peace" or something to him?

D4rKv310c1ty 01-21-2006 07:45 PM

Maybe but that wont stay forever, why dont we just make something that will.

Tom 01-21-2006 07:53 PM

Yeah, just set something up for a certain time of the year, and do it every year. A small global event.
Also, Krobos knew him best, K9 does'nt know anything about him. I even know Shawn more than that X_X

Huwajux 01-21-2006 09:01 PM

I disbanded my old guild and made a new one in memory of Shawn. Those of you who were his friend and want to pay your respects, join S64. <=)

NeoJenova 01-21-2006 09:10 PM

Man... I really can't believe this happened.
I'd almost appreciate it if this was another fake graal death.

Skrobo2 01-21-2006 09:51 PM

Sorry Neo
I spent my whole day after school confirming it.
It's true.

KuJi 01-21-2006 10:22 PM

yes, check out this thread:

I think when people hang themselves is like they think about doing it.
Then try it..then get too far into it..then it's over.

Moondeath_2 01-21-2006 11:05 PM

RIP Shawn... a very good friend, game programmer, and graphics artist... we will indefinate all remember him...

So, i'm not gonna say what I dont know.
My only question is, did he leave a note? And if so, what did it say?

As graalonline being a limited but close family like community, i'd hate for us to just stand around all day saying how much we missed him. C'mon guys lets do something about it. Lets give me a REAL honoury Gravestone!!

It must seem annoying for me to be very appressed, (someone who vaguely knew him) about the current situation but I know what this community is like and you've all shown you deepest condolences so lets show how much graalonline will miss him.

Anyone have ideas for what we could do?
e.g. a Flash animation, a gfx presentation, a well developed .nw with very well scripted npc's (like he seemed like to doing). Or a webpage with all our quotes and memories of him.

I believe im only trying to help if any of you lot want to handle it differently, fine. Its OK but dammit, if he was what i've read he's made out to be, lets give him a true 'Good Bye'

Anyone with me?

If viable, the better thing to create a remembrance would be to finish his amazing playerworld.

And replace it on the hosted tab as he wanted.

osrs 01-22-2006 12:14 AM

I really can't believe it. We used to work a lot, make plans for Shangri-La.
This world makes me sad.

excaliber7388 01-22-2006 12:17 AM

I wish I had gotten to know him better, I guess thats a regret will all deaths of a person ou only knew online. :frown: RIP man, wherever you are.

Skrobo2 01-22-2006 12:46 AM

Shangri-La will be finished. But, we need talented staff to help, so that we can keep the quality up to Shawn's standard. Shawn told Malinko before he did it that he wanted the server finished, so he deserves to get his wish.

OasaTor_PK 01-22-2006 12:54 AM

Damn, this is sad. I send condolences to his family/friends, and others effected by this. I remember I was spamming on RC on Shangri-la, when he was like "Hey Oasa, do me a favor and disconnect yourself I want to finish this weapon."

Of course, I didnt, so 10 minutes later I got fired for being a retard.

God damn, again, this is sad. As someone said in an earlier post, I wish it was also just a fake "graalian death."

talkingnoodle 01-22-2006 02:19 AM

rip man...good times on shangri-la jokn around and fooling with the msg system :D

Shiftk03- 01-22-2006 02:55 AM

Sad though it may be, if this is indeed true, how come noone has commented on the suicide bit? You actually feel sorry for him taking his own life? I lost a friend to suicide. He took 52 rolls and hung himself and what did I do? I cursed him for being a selfish idiot. Nothing in life, no matter how bad you think it is, is worth taking your life for. You're being stupid if you get so wrapped up in your own problems that you don't see that stuff going on around you. Sympathising cause you lost a friend is alright, but sympathising because he commited suicide is just *****ic. Shawn64: If you are really gone perhaps you should've stuck with it.

Tom 01-22-2006 03:22 AM

Tough words you have there Shift, and it does actually make sense, seeing how im a heartless (censored).

refinoheat2 01-22-2006 06:01 AM

I agree with you in that suicide is a selfish way to die, because it ends up hurting other people a lot more then it hurt you. But, like I said, i really didn't know him that much, besides that he was a good GFXer and from what I heard, a pretty good guy. So I wouldn't be able to comment much on his personal life or anything in that matter.

KuJi 01-22-2006 08:08 AM

How would it hurt us and his family a lot more then it would hurt him.

Hes dead, his family is not.

He is just mean to those who care about him. :frown: :frown: :frown:

They call me Rabid. Also, what? :\

SoSolid66 01-22-2006 12:11 PM

Wow that sucks. I didn't know the guy, nor do I feel sorry for the guy, he's found a way out. I feel sorry for the people and friends that he left behind though.

His family & friends have to live with the fact that they're never going to see him again. Sometimes emotional pain is worse than physical pain. Not to mention he only had to deal with pain for a short time. We need to live with it forever..

refinoheat2 01-22-2006 05:31 PM

Thats what I was saying, his pain was over quick, and he wanted it. His loved ones and friend on the other hand, have to live with that lose, and a lot of times that can be hell.

After what i heard about hanging... well i wont say that here.

MrsMastermind 01-22-2006 05:42 PM

I didn't know him at all until he died but, RIP Shawn. Have fun in Heaven.

refinoheat2 01-22-2006 05:59 PM

No disrespect, but does anyone know if he was high, or drunk when this happened? Or if he truely just hated his irl life so much... : (

KuJi 01-22-2006 06:57 PM

Uhm, I know he is athiest, and theirfore believes after hes dead, theirs no after life.

Thrashsoul3 01-22-2006 07:25 PM

I don't really show respect for people that commit suicide. But I do show sympathy to all his family and friends.

Edit: and not to be mean or anything, but people who commit suicide go to hell :\

Damn american bible belt x-x

RavenofEarth 01-22-2006 07:57 PM

Well, I just lost my father on Xmas eve '05. I'm sorry to hear that he's gone, but the theory is, you mourn, but then you get over it. I may sound cold-hearted, but it's the truth. His family will miss him, but he is with Great Spirit now. So, all in all, everyone will forget about it in due time.

He always said he would never touch drugs or alcohol. He was just very depressed and antisocial.

refinoheat2 01-22-2006 09:07 PM

ok I was only wondering because thats the case a lot of times.

centauriongod 01-22-2006 09:13 PM

!pissed! Dont you people say that he only dealt with pain for a short matter of time, you people dont know anything about the situation he whas in, neither do I. But I know about how he looked at live and how lonely he whas in real life...
please think about what you say.
And I dont think suicide is disrespectfull when you think its the last way out, while it never really is tho.

RIP my friend, you will be missed. :frown:

And I wish the relatives of Shawn best of luck in these hard times.

Okilian 01-22-2006 09:47 PM

I'm going to miss you Shawn. Great guy, great friend. One of the few on UN who I fully trusted and had a great time with. He will be missed.

We look around and thank you for your time great friend.

Erich
