I had $450 USD taken from my PayPal account. Is it possible that this is linked?

Chris 11-07-2005 09:59 PM

Did you register on Velox's website?

xAndrewx 11-07-2005 09:59 PM

Is your account on that list?

LilNiglet 11-07-2005 10:04 PM

Indeed it is.

Also, Emily, I take great care in where I register. Graalians.com seemed like a legitimate place to go.

Chris 11-07-2005 10:04 PM

Then the chances of the two being related are high.

xAndrewx 11-07-2005 10:05 PM

Then yes, if you don't have a clue where it's gone.

LilNiglet 11-07-2005 10:06 PM

Seems like I found out where my money went, then. I'll inform PayPal and the authorities, but I'm sure they won't do crap.

Googi 11-07-2005 10:06 PM

Graalians.com was actually a pretty good site.

Chris 11-07-2005 10:07 PM

Sorry Tupper. :frown:

Meh, that sucks.

It partly was.

Not directly.

It's not like Graalians.com was saying "Hey, if you register to this site, then we'll steal your personal details and/or Graal account/money!" upon registration.

And as most people have established, it wasn't the expected thing to happen, despite the probability that it could happen.

He hasn't been seen since. Goodluck trying to contact him.

Graalians.com wasn't a bad site. In fact, I thought it would probably get big. It sort of did, but for all the wrong reasons. They were reasons not made clear to the public. The website was not run by a legitimate individual, rather than hacked into or otherwise, so his methods were unethical. Stealing accounts through methods like that and using Paypal accounts to send money to himself is illegal, if I am not mistaken. Whether or not I advise you all to take any sort of action upon it, though, is completely up to you.

Mykel 11-07-2005 10:53 PM

This thread is a few months too late.
[This was in reference to Gambet's post, but the threads were merged, so the timing is off.]

Googi 11-07-2005 11:17 PM

Haha, Gambet is making security proclamations now?

Regardless, they should have used a different password for their own security.

I do not doubt this, but most people would not think of that prior to registering to something.

Lyndzey 11-08-2005 12:06 AM

The accounts on the list have been banned temporarily so that users who do not see this thread will change their passwords.

If your account has been banned, please submit a support ticket.

It formerly existed as a separate thread. It was not felt as separate enough to merit its own thread, so it was merged into this one.

I wouldn't call that an argument, as we don't really disagree with each other..

Yeah, I get your point.

napo_p2p 11-08-2005 12:46 AM

It also seems that VC had 'wrong' password attempts logged, as some people who did not have their actual password stored there still had their accounts stolen (some people may have tried logging into graalians.com with their normal password by force of habit).

jake13jake 11-08-2005 12:53 AM

i actually have uhh
******** (Graal)
************(***) (Money/Email)
********(Graal Forums, AIM) <---(I probably would have used this password)
*******(University)
*******(Yahoo! Mail)

heck.. I almost feel like not *ing my Yahoo! Mail password. That password has been in existence since my first computer when I was 10.

OasaTor_PK 11-08-2005 02:49 AM

I used my gmail for this site, my graal account is on a hotmail, which is uberleetly passworded, with a no relation to oasator, which has my kittens. Use different passwords on dif sites, heh I rule.

Methril 11-08-2005 03:14 AM

Stefan, are you going to, or have you already contacted paypal in support of Graal Online users?

protagonist 11-08-2005 03:17 AM

Wow, two threads collided, and coherence was the fatality.

Holy crap. I hope legal action is going to be taken?

Lyndzey 11-08-2005 03:27 AM

Velox has already contacted Paypal and is attempting to contact the two people who he stole money from.

Brad 11-08-2005 03:30 AM

man you gotta admit thats one sweet plan

Methril 11-08-2005 03:31 AM

That's not what I asked. I asked if Stefan (or I suppose another representative of Graal Online) had contacted paypal in support of it's users.

Don't take this as me being rude, I'm not trying to be rude. Thanks.

I don't know the answer to that, but I do know that the money has been returned to the two users.

I don't quite understand the point of this. Why would Stefan contact PayPal? No one is taking you to be rude, it just doesn't really make sense for Stefan to contact PayPal.

Kamuii is right, I think, the responsibility to contact PayPal belongs to the victim of theft, not Linux Cyberjoueurs. Velox has already returned the money as Lyndzey said and it is Trooper and Sage's choice whether or not they want to try to press charges.

Don't confuse this with a statement from GraalOnline Staff. This is just my guess based on what I know.
