If it allways uses the same graphics it could all be server side and that would work.
Dreamcast would be the best for it.
FF11 is online with updates weekly ( I think weekly I know constant updates)
(well it will be)
softwear is only going to be like $10.00
but online fee's will cost alot, atleast it will still work.

If it was on a DC, or anything that has internet capabilities, you'd just go online with it. Or if it was for 64, maybe it could have a telephone/broadband plug on the cartridge or something, but you'd have to connect it thru a external modem. (Can't put a modem on a cartridge, I don't think...)

HAIGH!

Well Phantasy Star ONLINE is gonna be on GAme Cube so it has to have Connection Capabilities on that :)

Yea, Nintendo announced that the GC was going to come with a broadband modem some time ago. Altho, I wish I had PSO right now. I'm bored and the only online game I have is Sega Swirl, cuz it came with the browser cd.

Torankusu 07-04-2001 02:00 AM

Ok, But how would you watch TV and play graal at the same time?

Get another TV.

Agelaos 07-04-2001 03:51 AM

umm, why?
but ok.. b/c Stefan will be rich than, so he will remove the banners in PMs :)

Not any of the online games made/are in planning
really have a concept like Graal. Those games
are based on hude data stored on hard disk
or CD, and on finished content.
That's not really dynamic, for dynamic
stuff you need a hard disk and small data.

Admins 07-04-2001 04:53 AM

Not to mention that 3D is really a problem
for dynamic online games because
you would need to download several
hundred of MB to see new levels,
all the 3D data and textures

TrueHeaT: Graal GBA would be the best idea.
Anyway there is already part of a Graal GBA tileset done but it won't be made anytime soon.

G_yoshi 07-04-2001 11:42 AM

I say, make graal GBA, but wait until after nintendo has released the linkup cable for the GAMECUBE so you can connect the GBA to the GAMECUBE and use the modem to get online :D And in case you didnt know, nintendo will be supporting roms...but i am not sure how they will do it. But then again, the GBA uses C++ so it would be possible to play NES, and SNES games on it :D

konidias 07-07-2001 01:14 PM

Yeah.. back in 1999 I think it was.. Stefan was making Graal for the gameboy color... I have the rom actually =)

It's sorta fun you get to pick different players and each player has a different skill.. It even has pachuka in it lol.

It's a pretty good transition from the pc version except a few things are missing.. it's fun though and brings back memories of old graal.. I wouldn't mind playing Graal on a gameboy advance over the net.. that would be quite fun on roadtrips. =D

That'll be interesting! :)

graal eats the leather of my boot
in other words i dont like you

FatherDante 07-07-2001 11:12 PM

Yeah, Graal3D might hit the same wall. 3D levels are hefty business, so online users would take a long time to download, and the server would take a big strain from it, I'd imagine. :\

Now... maybe if Graal 3D would actually continue development, then we can talk

its funny at GRaal Underground i was doing an interview for them with an admin and this came up there IS plans to bring it out as just a normal game on GBA but i cant remember if its stefan or a player project.

and as i said before....what would be the use of emulators? Emulators take and interpret the code so that it can be used on a PC/MAC. Otherwise...everything could be played on eversystem....think about it for a moment....the Nintendo 64 is different from a PSX....by far. If what you are saying were true....you could just simply do a transfer from the 2 and they would work......but that is not true....that is what game porting is for.....the way a game is programmed in one language is taken and then interpreted into another language....

Please...next time, refine your idea on this matter. The only system that uses C++ is the GBA....the rest have a special language...that is 1 reason why the Sega Saturn sucked...cause it was hard to develop for. It is also the reason why it takes so long for third-party developers to port a game from one system to the other....

Exactly.
