OMG MadWolf< I hate when people post ignorant things.
I was working on making something for Val. It's a baddy, and it's a class so I joined it to a Database NPC (required to be inside a level). I had simple sendtorc #v(playerscount); and it returned zero, when several people were in the level.
So I looked for another server, with a small playercount I could get on that I ALREADY HAD NC ON. I didn't DEMAND anything, omg... I got on, and I already had NC and levels (check rights =/). I MERELY asked if there were any levels up, so that I could place a D/B NPC in that level to TEST IT. It wasn't that big of a deal.
LORIEL set me up with access to Graal2001 AGES ago. And NO this is NOT bomy moon, it's the dev server. I got off when you didn't reply, so I got on Babylon (I think it was Bab) and tested it. Quite an odd glitch I'm having on Val, but I will get to the bottom of it.
So I am REALL upset when I get an IM from Angel saying I f'ed up big and she is going to try and get me fired =/ I don't appreciate this. Suddenly everyone is throwing negative publicity at me =/
I agree with Kai. If you don't like the GST, please keep it to yourself. We're here to help. And SB, I am not sure what your problem is. If you don't want me on your server, then fine. It's not a loss to me, as long as you're letting SOMEONE check things out. So seriously people, you don't have to try and be all negative towards the team... we're trying to do good.

Not necessarily....There simply arent enough "good" staff for all the servers that are up, the ones in private, and the ones being worked on to go around....you cant say just because a server is having trouble finding staff that the manager is bad (not owner). I have had trouble finding good lat's and scripters for awhile now, and I dont consider myself to be a bad manager.
In any case, I would never abuse the scripting team...they arent there to make stuff for our servers unless they want to, just to make sure everything is working up to par

True. Good staff are in short supply. When I started, there was a "drought" of staff. Every server needed people. Then they were abundant, but no one new has really seemed to have gotten into it =(

Fool. These are not your personal play grounds, these are developement servers for the future of graal. Nothing I do on Shifting Ages does not benefit the production of it. You should ot be able to test things on whatever world you like.

As for your comment about letting someone, well I gave Angel, Jagen, and Kaimetsu NC rights to my world because they are the only ones I can trust very well. They got a very limited rights, yes, but they still got what they needed. Currently, Angel has passed the current security I have on the control NPC.

ok, right now, there are 4 good LAT's, and 4 good GAT's online... yet none are staff. There are FOUR servers being made, where most of the staff is n-pulse players... true, all might not be good enough to go online, but still. If i can have 6 LAT's, 4 NAT's, and 5 GAT's... and my server isn't even online yet, how can you not even have a single LAT, or NAT... and only 1 GAT, who is having r/l stuff, so can't work much? I am not saying you are a bad manager... but it's like you are dieing of thirst, in a sea of fresh water (don't take this comment farther than i ment)

I am not 'flaming' n-pulse, or the management... n-pulse is my home server... it's just that i don't see how you can't find good staff, when they play your server! If you have good staff that play... but they do not wish to work for the server, then there must be a problem

anyways, back on topic... GST is a good 'idea'... lets just see if it works out in practice (i know it has been... but still, time might change things)

ok, ETD...this thread wasnt made for this, so I will say one more thing and no more.....working for a PW offline, and working for one online is alot different...I have seen alot of times people quit after the PW gets up because it wasnt what they thought it would be...it is a whole different ball game once players start playing the PW, as you will find out if your PW goes up...So people who are good at those things play npulse....so? Playing the server is one thing, actually applying for a job there is something else, I happen to know what part of the problem is, which WILL NOT be discussed here....I only replied to your incorrect post, now leave it alone...this thread isnt for this

Most people who quit after a server gets online quit for the reason that thier server isn't popular and they give up... Take cynical for example... their comanager left because they only have 8 players on average, but they'd only been up a month or two.

They logged on Frolic the other day asking for NC access and all. I didn't know what the heck was going on, but I knew they where global and all. I wasn't going to give them NC access until they said stuff like, "Knuckles, so you're declining our help...? Yadi, yada yada..." It felt like as if I didn't give them access, I wouldn't recieve any help from 'em.

It kind've scared me for alittle, I didn't know what the heck was goin' on =o. So I gave it to 'em =x. I guess they don't need it now... so..

#1. how is it different? either way they are doing work... we have people making towns, and quests, and NPC's, and we got a tileset made, and everything... if a server is up or not, either way, they have to do work... and if anything, when MAKING a whole new server, you have to do a LOT more work, than you do just maintaining one. (talking about development staff only)
#2.i would understand that... so people aren't staff on n-pulse because they don't like it? 0.o' and if you are talking about my staff... most all are either my close friends, or guild mates... they wouldn't leave me

it's not that people can't find anyone to work on their servers...it's that there's no one GOOD enough....
When i was hiring lat's for UN i got at least 25 applications and only about 4 were decent....only one of them good enough to be hired.... :|

Seems to me the majority of the people don't have a problem with the GST. It seems they have a problem with ProjectShifter only.

Project Shifter was just on delteria. Seems nice enuf to me.

Not everyone has a problem with him. There are a few that work well with him, it's just there are others that don't want anything to do with him for whatever reason.

Well I don't know. I'm a very outgoing person usually. People either tend to love me, or hate me... lol. I am not sure what SB's problem is though =/ I thought we were cool until he started bashing me on Debug RC the other day and Stefan threw a fit!
Moongod and I made up, we're cool now :) He deserved an apology long ago.
It probably goes to about 4 months when my dad left. I was having a real hard time and was a jerk to some people. I have repeatedly apologized now though =/ But people feel that since I now have "power" (it's not really anything, so get over it! =/) that I'm an easy target. As Konidias said, no matter how good a person with power is, they will always be disliked and hated and envied. I dunno, I mean, I have worked hard, and it's been a dream of mine to be able to do something like this.
Arg, I know Graal2001 is NOT BM's Dev world. I was like the 2nd person on when Loriel got it. I came on to TEST something that didn't work on another NPC Server. It seems as if the NPC Server of Val has a few bugs I will have to ask Stefan to review.
But to anyone who has a grudge against me, I say, let bigons be bigons. Forgive and forget. Move on with life and forget the past. So SB won't let me on his server, and MG probably won't ever give me NC, that's not a big deal. There are more than 20 other servers that would like my help :)

Please send me a forum PM or an email. We're setting up a system for managers to log into the CP that I designed for the GST. I need to modify it, and add users. Also, I have an EMERGENCY email address that goes right to my cell phone. It's private so it ONLY goes to managers.

Yea, but that's what makes every server diffrent.
And if your going to make a GST help all servers since there arn't alot of good ones... Then why not do the same for GAT's, or LAT's.

I mean, seriosly... The help sounds fine... but lets not blow it outta proportion.

Well, it is also about money. More efficient scripts and security saves money. It isn't about making the servers themselves more appealing, it's about helping them with what they can't do in most cases. Or perhaps where they don't see errors. We've all been scripting for quite some time, we know our in's and out's of things. There is already a global gfx group, but then levels, that's too much opinion to really do.

I would like everyone to stop judging the GST for their "power" (Which isn't an issue, it isn't even there). We're here to help out as much as we can. I'd rather you get to know me and realize I'm a "prick" than listen to a few people who dislike me and say that I am a "nice guy". make your own opinions, that's what freedom of choice is all about.

Knuckles, the site is located on Angel's server. I'm going to talk to Stefan perhaps about hosting it on graal online's server perhaps, but it's MySQL and PHP. Nothing graphically fancy, but hard-coded to do exactly what is needed :)

We logged on and I have had level 4 RC there forever. Long before you were even involed with frolic. Anyway when we logged on I explained who we were. What we were doing. and you Could refuse our help at any time.

Did you say that you guys would still help, even without the NC access?

It sounds like the only problem he had, was that it sounded like if he didn't give you NC access, then you wouldn't help them... (both of your stories match)
I guess there are 3 options...

1. don't accept any help
2. accept help, and give NC rights
3. accept help, but do not give any NC rights

did you make sure he knew that he had the third option?
(just wondering)

Dude, there's not much we can do to help if we don't have NC access. How are we supposed to find security holes if we can't see the scripts?

I don't suppose any of you remember a few days ago, when the massive hack offensive was underway?

Any server using a triggeraction which trusted the clientside code was easy prey...

The only solution was to explain to each NAT Admin the problem and fix the exposed code as quickly as possible...an impossible task for Stefan and a handful of scripters with no power on these servers.

...I do not recall hearing of a GST prior to this incident...and yet people wonder why it came into being, and fear those within.

Exactly, and I didnt even know about the triggeraction thing to start with...until Jagen told me last night.

(1) How can we help exactly WITHOUT NC? We can't see the NPCs, we can't view the coding, we can't make new things or bugs. Basically we're there with RC, and that's it. It doesn't do me much good to spend 20 minutes explaining HOW to fix something when I could go in and do it in 30 seconds and they would understand after that.
(2)Angel, I really don't like you having an outburst that like. Chill out, seriously. I never freaked out when I get accused of things. I calmly explained the situation. I think Knuckles whole thing is when you said "are you refusing us?" or something with the words "refusing" and such in it. I knew you were just asking, but he took it the wrong way. He will give us NC if he needs us, I will try and continue to talk to him, and hopefully get read rights to check things out if something goes down. but he's got my emergency contact so at least he's got a way to get ahold of us.
(3)The Global GATs are supposed to do this type of thing x-x But they don't, oh well. At least that's what I was under the impression of.
(4) We're here to help. So why not work with us and make your jobs easier, and our jobs easier. Or give us read rights. Come on, no offense, but I'm willing to venture that the 6 of us can make equal (possibly better, no offense) NPCs than are what are on your server. We've all been working for a long time, so cut us some slack please :)

He wasn't I doubt. MoonGod I think said how he didn't want Kai on N-Pulse, or something, but they sorted it out, then MG said he would be more than happy to have Kai fix up N-Pulse. And so.... He wanted to fix up N-Pulse as MG said he could, and they sorted out their problems.

Spark please don't post things that are not true it is a good way to lose friends, things like this is exactly how rumors and trouble starts between people and a PW. I never said Kai could not come to Npulse. If you had done your homework the only one I had a problem with was projectShifter , he said he was sorry for his past actions and I accepted that. We are still not ready for him to work on the NPC server but even he is welcome on Npulse. And for the record I would rather have Angel AND Kai work on any of Npulse's problems. I don't have a problem with Jagen and he has the rights , I just don't know him is all, Kai and Angel I do. But even at that Jagen is welcome to do what he deems fit to do, but I would still like to see Angel and Kai there whenever they have the time. If your not sure about something DON"T POST IT :grrr: , your cooperation in this would be appreciated, Thank You.

Never say never , I didn't say you would never get on Npulse NPC Server or if I did it was before we talked so right now we must decline your offer unless an emergency comes up I will let you know by that email you gave me. Everyone who is reading this PS will have to build up trust again with us , it can be done and at some future point I am sure we could work together again hopefully without the results we had last time.;)

I say your all retarded if you refuse this help they are offering. They are not only speeding up the playerworld making it take less CPU time, and also making your playerworld more appealing, but they are also making it safer.

They should have the control npc access (rw) as a mandatory right, anything else they get will be just for helping the server when needed.

Oh, and for those of you saying stuff about PS, you can all shut up because you are either over protective of your server or just jelous your not on a dev team yourself.

Zell/Cali, you don't know how much that means to me. A lot of people have expressed support for me privately, but you're the only one that has come out and supported me. Thanks man, it means a LOT you don't even know.

Zell I had good reasons for my actions and PS can back that up, we have talked and it has been resolved as far as I and Moonie are concerned, mistakes of the past will be left in the past because I believe he is truly sorry for what he did. I am one of the very few on Graal that can relate to his problem at the time because I to at one time was in the exact same position as he is now so I know how he feels. This is no excuse for bad behavior but we all make mistakes and everyone should make allowances for this as what it is and let it go as we have. Everyone should have a 2nd chance if they deserve it, so try not to hold grudges. ;)

Who is Damix? He had a Global Graphics tag on the other day and was massing all sorts of offensive stuff on UN the other day. I asked Nemesis about him and Nem said he is not a part of Global.

Damix sounds familier... I thought he was part of the GGFX too.
