Perhaps there could be an NPC run big train that can carry multiple people to a set destination?

What would having special people do?

All we need is them to put in permanant tracks. Why would they need to lay more tracks or destroy any if they are already there?

And Graal has no definite time setting. It's its own world, not a repeat of our own history. And the trains would be better underground because they would not clutter areas.

Sjc2k1 06-09-2001 02:16 AM

Stefan, if you had the time to script it, why not make a passenger train that could carry people around. Of course they'd have to pay a small fee, but it would be faster then the hand car, and you wouldn't have to do any work.
It would be cool to see some new job that went along with trains. Maybe you could work as a loader and load things onto freight trains or something

i agree with this statement made by spearman but i also think there should be like trian stations and special train lines and only some like railroad workers can lay tracks i also think they should be able to cut trees down then lay the tracks usin the wood and gettin the iron from the mines

Fai 06-09-2001 02:18 AM

Oh stop it with the paying to use things. They should make the handcar cost money to buy, but after you get it you can get around faster. BUT before they add any more things to buy, they should RESET MONEY.

Because as new places turn up, we need them to build more tracks. And the tracks might become old and we need them to build new ones.

And I'm not saying it does, I'm saying that since we have some many idea's in graal that come from the real world, and keeping them in context with the real world is sometimes a good idea.

An underground subway system would just ruin the mystique of it.

omni-m00gle 06-09-2001 03:25 AM

Make underground levels which we can build tracks only so we dont clutter the main levels. Once underground itll have special places to get to..let's say..Antora..Then youd come out of the hole and youd be in Antora.

vergil 06-09-2001 03:29 AM

wow looks like a land slide :) I think a group of people should have to plan out rail roads and make sure its where the people want them. Also not make them so ugly like the corners hardly connect right and it looks.. ugh.

FxChiP 06-09-2001 03:37 AM

"Special" people should NOT be able to build railroad tracks. Because "special" is pretty much just another word for popular as far as Graal. That would mean only people like dozer, deetto , Gameo, IceHawk, etc would be the only ones able to build railroad tracks. Why? Because they're popular, and that makes them "special".

I say that it should be free and the railroad workers should clean the mess up.

Fai 06-09-2001 03:44 AM

If a new place is added, Stefan should just add tracks to that area. That is all that is needed.

Otherwise it is just letting specific people have fun.

Fai... with all your posts, all you propose is that there is absolutely nothing on the G2k1 world and there are no staff members. Give everything time, you're throwing the dart at the board before it's even set up.

Fai 06-09-2001 04:03 AM

I just don't see the point in giving special people the ability to have fun with train tracks only. Even though they can do the same thing better by just having stefan add in tracks.

Yeah

TCNDAN 06-09-2001 04:23 AM

ONLY CHINESE CAN BUILD TRACKS

HEY THEY WERE BETTER THAN THE IRISH.
HAHA WE WIN
YES WE

IF YOU HAVE NOT PICKED IT UP, I AM CHINESE.

OK CHINESE BUILD TRACKS.

=Jinn + some others

annr 06-09-2001 04:25 AM

ew, i would not want to pay to be able to use railroad/etc

FatherDante 06-09-2001 04:41 AM

There's no good way to choose a team of railroad builders because it's so easy ANYONE could do it. :\

Admins 06-09-2001 06:33 AM

No I think there will be no team,
better directly add the railroad tracks with the
level editor

Fai 06-09-2001 06:34 AM

YAY DOG

Huggles 06-09-2001 06:35 AM

Stefan Make it so it costs pearls to make them..... Then there wouldnt be so much messes and bomys can make a profit from it!

Its fun creating these rails...
Just need some limitations

Fai 06-09-2001 06:36 AM

Pearl Railroads...

Huggles 06-09-2001 06:37 AM

Yes make it unique...... I mean graal isnt like real life so why not? It would defintly make people choose wisely to make roads instead of messy ones dont you agree?

T-Squad 06-09-2001 06:42 AM

Stefan you should make a graal strategy thing for wars...use the same system as railroads where you place things, but only you can build things and command them to like attack enemy buildings, and such...it would be very useful for events and kingdom wars..not to mention something very cool...people in kingdoms could have commanders to comand units, and builders to build things...not that this has to do with railroads ;-)

annr 06-09-2001 10:51 AM

i mentioned this in another thread. but. becoming a lumber jack and using the wood to build them might be neat.

Tyhm 06-09-2001 11:44 AM

You can purchase tracks at a shop somewhere.
Lay only the ones you have (turns are more expensive than straightaways! And crossroad pieces are way more expensive!)
You can only lay a railroad piece over an existing railroad piece at the end (in case you find out you're running right into a mountain and need to turn), or connecting to a "live" railroad piece. A railroad piece is considered live only if it connects to a station on the other end. Simple linked-list form would work for storing that....this piece connects to that piece, the end of this piece is a station....

That way players can't do huge loopy things unless they spend a LOT of money on it
They have to connect to at least one station/preplaced track

Kinda like Pipe Dream....anyone else remember that game?

Spearman 06-09-2001 11:47 AM

Yes...not as addictive as ski free

Tyhm 06-09-2001 11:51 AM

I once edited the embedded BMPs in SkiFree....^^;

AGH! I hate that game! I can never get past the yeti!

Spearman 06-09-2001 11:54 AM

What did you change them to?

Tyhm 06-09-2001 12:18 PM

*ahem* Women of low moral fiber who were improperly dressed for the clime, if you take my meaning.

You turned them into zorbies and made them wear bra's, right?

Tyhm 06-09-2001 12:33 PM

Well, basically. The Yeti chick WAS blue like that.....

toad1413 06-09-2001 02:10 PM

Geez Tyhm. Can I have it?

You would have to team up with someone to do it... or, if it was set to you can only get a limeted number of tracks per graal day...that way we wouldn't have tracks popping up all over the place because it would take a while to build them.
