Bumping this. Stefan, fix it. If a user said he could throw together a fix in a hex editor (assuming decompiler?) in 8 hours, it shouldn't be a problem for you to give it an update to have it work. You say ~4% of Graal users run Windows 8, but realize less than that percentile can actually develop what makes you money. Who's to say those people on Windows 8 don't have potential to make something that will attract more players or maybe even get you another beloved iPhone server? If we're paying you to develop our own servers with already existing flaws in the game's engine, and your solution is to use client-RC, I'd really rethink your business plan. Not to mention the comment about iPhone servers...

We're paying you money to develop things on our own time that ultimately gives us no reward outside of Graal. The very least we would expect you to do is give us **** that works.

Hopefully this gets fixed soon. Not that I plan to use Windows 8 immediately or anything, but it would be nice for those who are.

Luckily I build my own computers so I can switch between and run multiple operating systems with ease, but most players probably don't have that luxury and bought a computer from a website, or a store which come installed with an operating system; normally windows. They all like to have the most recent version of windows so they aren't selling an outdated product, which would make sense that its population will inevitably grow as people purchase new computers... So saying that not enough people use it to release an update for broken software is lazy and incorrect imo.

Still being ignored. Again.

This is kind of late to the conversation, but considering the problem still exists, I thought I'd share something. The problem is absolutely not Windows. Things change, and generally change for a good reason.

RC2 uses an utterly OBNOXIOUS amount of garbage to run. It's no wonder it has problems. http://www.pango.org/ is the primary culprit. Why this is being used, I don't know. I'd imagine it's for cross-platform reasons, although I don't think there's ever been an external RC for anything but Windows anyway... (Edit: I was told there actually is, so that definitely explains the libraries.)

Regardless, before blaming Microsoft, you might want to take some time to understand the actual problem. Also, no, I don't have a way to fix it, nor have I cared to try because there are other versions of RC2 that do still work.

I don't think he's wondering nor does he really care. Completely understandable if you look at the playercounts.

Maybe we would have more players if he actually cared.
