i would be honored to apply :) ps you might remember me as Gulthex ;0 |
Edit: reread the thread,
great work with all the new updates, can those who is interested to try "flash" graal get access? yay @ android + new development tools! (also, i very interested to try out the android version, i got an HTC Desire Z ) |
As a staff member, I would really like to know what your plans for PC Era are.
|
Free to Play is possible when server and content have been transformed to bring revenues with items and features.
Graal Classic/Era Iphone servers have been transformed to fit Free to Play. So before switching to free to play, servers will have to introduce Pay items/heads or features. Quote:

Android will get a native client and will not use the Flash Player. So Yes it will be touch screen version like the iPhone/iPod/iPad version.

I am happy to hear that Graal is moving into the worlds of Facebook.
Great update. I hope to start playing it soon! |
Let the haters hate. I believe that this will only create a positive effect on the PC community (in time). Facebook is such an awesome networking tool. I haven't played the iphone version of graal yet, so I can't necessarily say if it's a good or bad product; but the PC version of graal is definitely not ready to "release" to the public.
Good advertising + bad product = High playercount with constant decline Bad advertising + good product = Low playercount with little/no decline Good Advertising + good product = high playercount, possibly increasing each week |

Great job!
Thor probably will be infuriated with the facebook players now :asleep: |
way to crush my hope, i was sure graal was going to be free again when i saw the title "graal free to play..."
|
It's easy to create a Graal Online Facebook account if you're concerned about your friends commenting on your achievements - mine is facebook.com/wdmgraal :)

Curious about the outcome, hopefully it draws in more people. Does anyone else find the thing that displays your friends and guild ugly as ****?

And to think I was actually expecting something interesting.
Great business plan here. Just look at how retarded the average Facebook user is. Throw up some micro transactions for custom hairstyles and the money will be flowing in like crazy! >The reason I will never be a facebook member. |
I really hope we don't get bombarded with nameless pc:###### accounts as a result.
|
excellent :) i look foward to testing :)
|
Can we get some more info on the new dev tools?

I don't understand. Is that a "new" server for Facebook, or is that the current iPhone server?

iPhone server apperently.
|
So what does this mean about the client/downloadable graal? Is it going to be rendered useless once facebook graal hits?
Are all the servers on current PC graal going to be reset? Are we going to lose the ability to sethead/body etc? |
Obviously, he's playing the iPhone server on facebook. Doesn't mean on release they'll have the same servers..
|
1) So just to sum everything up it sounds like there will be a total of 4 different era servers and 4 different classic servers. iPhone, Facebook, PC, and Andriod?
2) Playerworlds will have a chance to become free to play once they create some type of cashshop for their server I assume. So for example how on the iphone server you can purchase gelats, house, guild, or what not if you do something similar to that for your server that your server will become free to play. 3) Staff still doesn't get compensated for their hard work. We bring the money into graal and we make graal but we get nothing in return except a better game lol. So even if you don't have an iphone/driod/facebook this will still end up bringing more players to graal once servers are set up to be free to play. This could also encourage players who have quit to return to graal. The iphone servers gets about 1k+ each roughly so having a facebook servers and driod servers will probably tripple the ammount of people on graal and increase their revenue. So its good but could of been better. |
Happy about the Dev Tools...
Mixed feelings about Facebook app. Seems kind of silly to have so many servers... Graal Classic for iPhone, Graal Classic for Android (unless adroid plays on iphone server), Graal Classic for Facebook, and Graal Classic? Tbh, seems like a kick in the stomach to Thor and the like working on Classic pc. "You're hard at work recreating the server? Oh, well, were just gonna release 4 identicle servers full of reused content. Kthxbai." Unless of course you talked it over with the team at Classic...I somehow doubt that tho. |
Due to the release of 'Flash Graal' do you have plans to publish it on kongregate.com?
|
There are many directions a free-to-play server could possibly take: Facebook, iPhone, and Android. Now, if only there were some sort of motivation to create a free-to-play server. I do not see why any decent developer would want to create a quality free-to-play server for free.
The only reason iPhone Classic and iPhone Era were created is because they had PC counterparts to copy directly. New developer tools will be nice, however that alone will not motivate developers to create new free-to-play servers. Many people may feel that more servers is a bad idea, because it spreads out the Graal population onto too many servers, but when iPhone Era was released, iPhone Classic did not lose its playercount at all. This is because iEra was advertised as a new game in the app store. So, the iPhone Graal community was expanded, not spread out. Creating new free-to-play servers with different gameplay styles would increase the Graal's base playercount. Which, in turn, would amount to more cash flow for Eurocenter. I just do not see it happening without developers having some sort of cash payment as incentive. |
The motivation is a larger playercount? Graal no longer offers unlimited classic accounts anymore right? So if you make your server capable of being free to play then it simply means more players for your server. For example Era, Zodiac, GK, Zone, and Maloria all could apply to be a free server by making cashshop items?
Also any current server in development right now would want to apply? Doesn't mean your starting from scratch and free server I am pretty sure he meant pc graal not andriod/iphone/facebook because you could already try and apply to be an iphone server. |
