Honestly this thread feels like its turning into a Logic V. Art debate, we should stop now before it completely derails from the point of the thread.

Anyways, awesome coloring by Elk. O and about the pillars and outlines, this should look better.

Now all this needs are some semi run down and corroded statues of this past ancient civilization

Agreed, looks good. ^^

DustyPorViva 12-17-2010 10:25 PM

It might look better to have the water down some instead of right up against the floor.

I could make it go down a lil bit I guess, but not too much or else the player couldn't swim to that door.

Defiantly! :D

Once Its winter break I will try to finish up my complete temple set, including all NPCs, baddies, and the outside of the temple.. For the outside I'm thinking of architecture somewhat inspired by Angkor Wat... Will be challenging..

Anyways if time allows me, and my computer stops crashing so often, I'll start some statues and what not this weekend..

4 or 6 pixels would be a massive improvement.

I would actually go with 8 to 10 pixels personally.

I did a quick marking of where it could show most presented by rainbow indicators different color for every pixel.

I marked it for 10 pixels but again I'm seeing 7-10 being the best range but that tiny spot about a tile big could probably use a 4-6 perhaps like dusty said. Experiment on it mentally and see what fits best.

It would feel weird just posting what I changed with the water level, so I included some older graphics I made.. Since I don't really have time to finish the ruins tiles until winter break, I have a little time this weekend, I feel like I should polish or scrap some of my older tiles... So here is what they look like now, I'll do some recoloring and editing to them I guess..

The perspective is wrong on the walls next to the tree. Other than that, I like your style, even if those cliffs are not really my taste :)

Dnegel 12-19-2010 03:47 PM

I like your tree

Matt 12-19-2010 11:20 PM

I like it. ^^

Yea I really hate those cliffs, I'll remake them from scratch.

Fulg0reSama 12-20-2010 05:42 AM

I like demonspawn's artwork, keep at it.

See what I mean? Even if it's a small error, it'd be better if it was fixed :)

the lines that I highlighted in yellow and green are not supposed to "circle around" the wall, the perspective is slightly wrong for this part.

Why are they not, they are in front of and beside the wall. Makes sense to me.

So this wall would have a base, kinda like a statue? It's not the first impression I got from it. If it's supposed to, then it could use some improvements.

I don't know what's wrong with that. It's something I do quite a bit.

You're saying that the wall should somehow cover up the floor? That would be even more wrong.

Liberated 12-20-2010 07:58 PM

He's talking about the fact that the lines infront are 1 pixel apart, and on the side, the vertical ones, are straight next to eachother, apparently creating the illusion of an elevation when there wasn't intention of it being there.

From what I can see, the lines that I highlighted seemed weird to me.
If you imagine it in "3D", here it is

Attachment 52075

In yellow/green = How it actually looks like to me, kinda
In Red/Pink = How I thought it was intended to look

This is how it looks to me, and also how i feel it is intended to look:

edit: more like this.

kia345 12-20-2010 08:57 PM

That's what I saw too.

Demisis_P2P 12-20-2010 09:30 PM

Yeah Liberated is definitely right, that is what I saw too.

salesman 12-21-2010 12:54 AM

I thought they were borders that went up to the top of the wall =(

DemonSpawnn 12-21-2010 08:28 AM

Walls I made a few hours ago, I'm unsure about them, They were supposed to be for a building (needs a roof) but I feel like they might look better as inside tiles..

O and before you jump to conclusions the pallete for the wood was used by request, to match the other tiles for a server, it is not mine. But the other colors are.

I see what Soala means, and to show you what he's talking about:

Elk 12-21-2010 09:54 PM

I think I have the same thing @ Crystia...
http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/7...ensewerani.gif

But I don't see it much of a problem...

anubis_wing 12-21-2010 10:28 PM

I came......to these forums to say that was an amazing post.

Torches need animation imo.

O my.. I have much to learn about brick textures..:oo:

maximus_asinus 12-21-2010 11:32 PM

Amazing tiles Elk, but that little flow of water in the crack makes absolutely no sense. Where is the water coming from? The hole? The sidewalk is elevated so clearly it isn't coming from that sewer.

Blame it on humidity.

DeCeaseD 12-22-2010 02:11 AM

@Elk, that's really nice. Except that little stream flowing from the big hole into the water line. It makes no sense? The stream looks like it's falling off the walk-way into the water, yet it's doing the same for the big hole. Where's that bit of water actually originating from? o.O
