So far, I'm liking it. Everything seems to be smoother. I like the playerlist, which means I'll probably have like 100 neg rep points coming my way.

The only question I have is about the GUI that tells you 'Connecting to X' and such.

Psht, I been using it. Works great for me on windows 7 64 bit.

The only problems I've seen go as followed:
The colored GUI bars on GK were layering underneath the actual numbers. For some reason the quote box in profiles won't let you space to the next line.
I've also noticed when you hovor over people on the playerlist it tells you they are in a different level then they actually are.

These are such small things though. I'm pretty sure I will continue using the new client because of non-lag issues. :P

LordOfPi13 10-03-2010 08:38 AM

Maybe make the microphone/voice chat work in this client (not that much of a scripter so i shouldnt go in detail =p)

Luda 10-03-2010 08:56 AM

I wonder if any of these suggestions/complaints will actually be listened to.

So unless for some reason 10 second timers are finishing way before 10 seconds with v6, I doubt this is a bug with the client. Era staff need to take a look at logs to see if it was just a one time thing, or if you were frequently beating the 10 seconds.

Yeah I did the logs and only once did it do this, I did try to explain but I don't think Chris understands :(

Masa 10-03-2010 12:47 PM

I do understand, but there has to be some explanation.
Dead serious, I wasn't doing anything other than carrying donuts; no third-party program was involved. I'm kind of at a catch-22, here, because it seems there is no way out of it, other than considering the improbable.

I mean c'mon, I have no reason at all to speed up the "sprinkle donut" process.
Drop logs of the time I picked up the donuts would coincide with the ToRC flag, yes?
That's all I got, man.

Since it did only happen on v6, I figured it was an issue with the client.
If the detector just happened to "slip-up", I guess I'm just up the creek with no paddle.

Admins 10-03-2010 03:39 PM

Normally speed checks should not auto-ban, only be used when someone is reported as speed-hacker to see if it can also be techincally be proven.

Crono 10-03-2010 04:21 PM

font is still an issue (hard to read, much worse than v5...why?), forcing people to use ingame playerlist is annoying (vast majority of people use external), and there are still the small bugs like windows opening on your mouse x,y, Graal not starting fully stretched out, etc.

you have to get everyone to constantly repeat it, stefan did fix a lot of stuff in the other thread. maybe skyld will compile a list since he has a lot of influence ^_^?

xAndrewx 10-03-2010 05:23 PM

When changing theme and closing graal and re-opening, the playerlists reverts back to the default blue

I just got jailed for 30 days on Era for attempting to carry 2.9k plain donuts to be sprinkled.
Apparently, it flagged that I was trying to hack my speed and given my jail/ban record, it isn't easy to prove that I didn't do it.

Basically I just picked up a bunch of donuts, decreasing my walkspeed from about 1.08 to 0.33. I attempted to walk toward a table to "sprinkle" the donuts. Something triggered ToRC saying I was hacking my speed.
"Masa (Masa) has been caught hacking his/her speed [delta: 9.615432977]"

Should a fix be found, make it a priority to unjail me.

You are correct, this is a false-positive which has been reported to Stefan (and which he's acknowledged).

On Mac (and possibly Linux), when you resize the client it increases the FPS so the interface elements move smoothly rather than moving jaggedly since they move at a slower FPS than the OS. This causes it to catch the increased FPS and call you a speed hacker. Point the Era staff to the post below (or this one) and I'm sure they'll unban you.

Time: 30 day(s).

I was caught by Era's speed hacking protection, which involves the server sending a message to the client, the client waiting 10 seconds (scheduleevent), and the client then returning the message. If the time is significantly less than 10 seconds, it's considered to be a speed hacker.

Skyld can also confirm with the Era staff as he's tested it with Chris.

e: I contacted Era staff and they've unbanned you.

ya font and windows opening on x,y is EXTREMELY annoying.>_<

Mark Sir Link 10-03-2010 05:36 PM

wish playerlist would save size/location so I don't have to move it every time I log in.

Switch 10-03-2010 05:48 PM

Getting on for this.

knightfire35 10-03-2010 06:10 PM

A few things I've noticed that happened to me:
-The key to open options no longer works, so I had go through the start button
-Can't change font
-Not a huge fan of the new playerlist

Besides those, it seems to be running smoothly.

jkldogg 10-03-2010 06:51 PM

Bug/Glitch

On Era when you use the player list and view history my character says the account name of the person in game that i'm viewing history.

If that makes any sense. ;)

It is 'external'. If there's functionality within the old external playerlist that the new one lacks, then that functionality should be introduced to the new external playerlist. There's no reason to keep two different kinds, especially now that the new playerlist, by default, uses external windows.

You know what I mean by "external" (i.e the old one) and there's an obvious reason why most people prefer to use it over the "internal" one. You seem to be one of the few who don't get it, which isn't a surprise really because you don't even play Graal.

Admins 10-03-2010 07:45 PM

Well is there any other reason except the 'window opens at mouse' why you prefer the old playerlist over the new one? Both are docking, show player info when hovering over a name, support multiple selections etc.

Well, here is another problem people have with the playerlist I think:

- Each time a PM is opened, it actually populates their task bar with more windows. It would be nice if it would be possible to open a window externally without it showing as a task tied with Graal. For example, in V5 when someone opens a profile, it opens a new window but that new window is not added to the task bar. Would be nice if we could get an option for this, like "displayastask=true/false".

- I have suggested this one before, "alwaysontop=true" would cause the window to always be displayed on the top, and when Graal is minimized, it would be minimized, then when Graal is un-minimized, it would be un-minimized and brought into focus. This feature would make the playerlist seem much more natural, and also with the profile system.

- Another problem is that bringtofront() or showtop() aren't bringing external windows to the top of Graal.

Other than these scripting issues, I can't really imagine what else could be bothering people about the playerlist. I actually prefer it over the v5 playerlist after using it for a while now. The only issues are the ones I stated above and the mousex/y thing.

Admins 10-03-2010 08:20 PM

About the GUI look: we have said several times that we can set a new default gui look in v6. If you know of good .wba styles then we could make one based on that.

DustyPorViva 10-03-2010 08:24 PM

I think the main problem with the new external list is that it's running at 20fps instead of 60fps, and it is noticeable. But this has been stated multiple times.

Also, I posted about it before but if you highlight text you have to keep the mouse in the text box when you let go or it stays in highlight mode. Very annoying.

Ah yes, this is a quite annoying thing. When you highlight text, if you mouseup inside of a different control, the original one never receives the mouseup.

Another example of this is if you right-click someone to open their profile, then GraalControl never receives the mouseup event. It would be nice if the original object you clicked on, also received the mouseup (I mentioned this in the windows v6 beta on the main post).

Most wba styles are just as ugly as the blue stuff we have now.

Not really. But the playerlist being all external and stuff, something fitting the style of Windows/your window manager would be cool. I noticed that when checking out the external F2 log, the white background contributes to the Windows-ish look. I assume it'd be possible to inherit an OS style on startup..?

It's mostly aesthetic and also the fact that the ingame is running at a noticeably lower framerate.

Attachment 51777

Which one looks easier to read? To me the old one is superior in terms of readability. There's better contrast between text and the background (colors included), the font is crisper, and the dividers between staff, guild, etc are divided much more effectively.

I recently had a survey taken here, on UN, and Zodiac to see which playerlist the actual players are using.

Forums:
Ingame: 10
Normal: 37
http://forums.graalonline.com/forums...hp?t=134260108

UN:
Ingame: 21
Normal: 52
(Voting house)

Zodiac:
Ingame: 26
Normal: 83
(Checked via NPC)

Just so you know I'm not the only one who prefers the normal one to the ingame one.

You say I don't 'get it' like it's a bad thing. You don't seem to 'get' why I and others prefer the 'internal' playerlist, either, and attempt to ridicule me for preferring it.

As for playing Graal, I'm one of many seasonal players. ;)

I honestly can read the blue one better. If it's really a matter of aesthetics, it shouldn't be difficult to create a GUI profile mimicking the look of the old 'external' playerlist.

There should be a default profile for the Playerlist. I tried using a Windows classic WBA that I found and the client GUIs in-game looked awful but the Playerlist looked similar to the external v5 version.

If we changed it to look something like this would it help anything?

I ridicule you because you have not pointed out a reason as to why the external playerlist is not superior, considering its purpose.

Yep, fix it yourself mentality right here. We'll mess it up, you worry about fixing it. np players.

Honestly I can look over the performance drop if the playerlist could atleast look like the old one. By that I mean the dividers, spacing, font, etc. Then it should be ok.

I'm going to try to include it as a default playerlist skin because it really does work nicely.

Here's how profile windows look with it.

So as you can see, it really is possible for these systems to look nice. Just need to apply a new theme.

Any way to get that just for Graal and not my entire computer?

EDIT: The playerlist shouldn't show stuff like "Jail, disconnect, summon, etc" when you right-click someone if you're not staff.

Yes, download the WBA file, navigate to your Graal folder, go to levels > guistyles. Drop the WBA file in there. Navigate back to your Graal folder. Delete FILENAMECACHE.txt. Restart Graal. Press F3. Select it for your theme.
