It's really not that big of a deal either way...it was just a suggestion to spice things up a bit. People will always find ways to lame or run. Hopefully now that points aren't lost when you die people might actually stay and fight.

I agree with having hp on the doors from the inside of the base, but not for the people in the gang that own the base.

Gang points no longer subtract when a player dies. In addition, I've redone the god awful point display at unstick me (sorry Frankie) and added a "/points" command for simplicity. I'll update the top score displays and add a way to check your personal points soon. In addition, leaving or being removed from a gang removes the points that player earned the gang. Points reset each week (midnight on Sunday). You can see the time until the reset at the point display at unstick.

Also, when a player logs out now they leave a "dummy" behind which can be PKed. It can also be pushed, pulled, etc. This should prevent logging. These only show in non-event and non-spar PK zones. In non-PK zones, players now fade out when logging.

kia345 05-17-2010 05:18 AM

What's the point of the fading? I thought it was stupid when the little fade in/out was added to GK, does Era's have any substance?

Actually at present I would say Era is more about who can be the biggest miner fatty or who can scam the biggest miner fatty.

Good luck getting a stable economy when you've got infinite money coming from nowhere and one worthwhile gun to spend it on.

In non-PK zones and events/spars it's the same general concept as on GK (purely aesthetic), but in PK zones it's used for damage after logging out. It wasn't added for the sake of players fading, that was just an afterthought. I can add an option to disable that eventually.

Removing deaths from profiles is fairly unpopular but it's bound to have more of an effect on running than putting HP on doors. Putting HP on doors will just make more people log out when they get into a situation where they know they can't run; which is why logging in spars is more common than logging in PKing. Removing deaths from profiles removes a lot of the incentive to avoid deaths.

But as long as it takes less time to heal than it does to die and walk back people are going to have an incentive to run.
