I don't disagree with what you say though.

If you were replying to my post then I don't see why you brought up an article about OS's when I was talking about CPU's.

64-bit architecture is something that would eventually come along even if AMD wasn't the first to do it. AMD can't even compete on the level Intel can anymore. I mean, it took them how long to develop quad-cores?

Going with Wikipedia, IBM had a 64bit architecture in '61.

I was not saying that AMD is awesome or anything, just that amd64 refers to the architecture and not just AMD's processors.
