Not a good idea, what if you get one of those virus's that tear up your hard drive or motherboard or something? Cant just reformat then

I never knew there were mobo-frying virii....I guess they overheat your computer or something? or perhaps overwrite the bios with random bits?

Before i got Norton i got a virus that wiped out my hard drive, nasty stuff.
But even so, Norton isnt 100%, my sis who uses the same comp, but not my rc or graal account, opened her msn and an email about *be my friend*
Next thing we knew Norton was disabled and everything started shutting down.
I was able to log on the net and use msn and that was it.
So with the help of a friend we tracked down the virus, started
Norton in safe mode, quarantined the virus, and we were back in business.
Could have been a heck of a lot worse.
Now we dont accept anything, and all emails are deleted if we dont know them.
I also refuse to use Outlook Express now to protect myself.

Do your kids got graal?=

Spark910 01-30-2003 10:01 PM

Yes I think she did say they had used it before.

zell12 01-30-2003 10:04 PM

Oh well, I hate buying things. Norton is one of them. I just don't go downloading trainers like half the idiots that play graal do. And I don't use hotmail, so the only email I use is my isp one and I don't get spam there. :)

Megamaniac 01-30-2003 10:45 PM

For those of you who won't pay for Norton...

I recommend this.
It's a free Anti-Virus program. I use it, my Dad uses it, heck, staff on campus use it.
AVG Virus Protection

A virus can, however, flash your BIOS, leaving you with a blank and worthless motherboard. :]

I've also heard of viruses that cause overheating in computers, but I've never actually seen one so I think it's speculation...One fun way to wreck havok on a computer is to take apart a floppy disk, and spinkle gunpowder or crushed match heads on the surface of the magnetic disk...haha I tested this one day and seriously screwed up a junky 286 machine...hahahaha

I dont know who this ***** hacker is. But if he trys and messes with me ill make sure he pays.... The only hacker I have a problem with is Ubermass or Ritcher donnie he was a ebil Sanstrata hacker or staff member with level 4 rc.

*shakes finger*
CheeToS's way of breaking floppy drives.
1. Get floppy disk.
2. Get nail polisher remover.
3. Apply nail polish remover to disk.
4. Open floppy drive.
5. Put disk in floppy drive.
6. Watch smoke.
:D
